ASSOCIATION UPDATES
ODSS
Andrea Kunkel, CCOSA General Counsel & ODSS Executive Director While we write this, ODSS is just a few days away from the deadline to submit nominations for its Maurice Walraven and Director of the Year Awards and applications for its Jimmie Prickett Scholarship. When you read this, we’ll have announced the winners.
For years, we took for granted the opportunity we had to spend time together in person. Although some of us may have the opportunity to attend the CCOSA Summer Leadership Conference in person, we’re hopeful we can all safely gather together, later this summer, perhaps, to catch up with our ODSS colleagues we’ve missed so much. We’ve saved up lots of praise to heap not only on our award winners, but also on those colleagues who’ve worked so hard and so inventively over the past year-plus. The next celebration won’t be the usual, and it won’t be one we’ll take for granted.
We’re waiting to hear whether the November CASE national event will be held in person. The July Legislative Conference will, however, be held virtually. We still anticipate holding an in-person ODSS Best Practices Conference in 2021-22, but our favorite venues aren’t taking reservations until they’re able to see that COVID no longer poses a threat. We hope to have more news about a date in late summer. Looking forward to seeing you soon! ■
