DAY 04 26th JAN (SUN) MEXICO CITY Welcome to Mexico City, the nation’s vibrant capital city! One of the most populous cities in the world with over 20 million people, it offers some of the finest museums, galleries, restaurants, and archaeological sites in the world. This morning, you will explore the city center including the Zocalo (Main Square), the National Palace, the Metropolitan cathedral and Temple Mayor. In the afternoon, the tour continues to National Museum of Anthropology. You will have time to explore the La Ciudadela Market – a paradise for souvenir hunters with arts and crafts from all over Latin America. Have an early rest tonight!

The exterior richly decorated façade and interior gold alters of San Francisco Javier Church next door are prime examples of Mexican High Baroque. Then continue to site of Teotihuacan (2,000 years old) with some of the most imposing ritual sites in the Americas. Here, you will see the renowned Pyramids of the Sun and Moon during our guided tour. Then drive about 50 min back to Mexico City. In the evening, you will enjoy the famed Ballet Folkloric performance.

DAY 07 29th JAN (WED) LAKE ATITLAN / ANTIGUA In the morning, explore the Indian communities surrounding the lake and understand their livelihood. After lunch, drive 2.5 hours to Antigua. Check into your hotel in the beautiful colonial city of Antigua. This is among the oldest and most beautiful cities in Americas, set amidst 3 magnificent volcanoes and rich in handsome colonial buildings. The highland area around Antigua is the heart of the descendants of the Mayan and we will experience the evolution of the ancient culture in the many old towns, villages and colourful markets.

Overnight: Palacio Dona Leonor, Antigua Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 08 30th JAN (THU) ANTIGUA Today, we spend a full day to enjoy Antigua Guatemala, an earlier colonial capital of Central America, founded in 1543. We will visit Capuchinas Convent, De La Merced Church, the Cathedral and the Zocalo. After lunch, go on a walking tour of the Old City and visit San Antonio Aguas Calientes. The rest of the afternoon is free at leisure to explore this beautiful city.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the Copán Museum and you may enjoy the environment and atmosphere of Copán Ruins. Copan has been called the “Paris of the Mayan world”. It consists of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchers. Enjoy the impressive 63 step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and masterfully carved Stella. Tonight you will enjoy a presentation and dinner at home with the Archaeologist, David Sedat.

DAY 10 01st FEB (SAT) COPAN / TIKAL In the morning, you will visit the legendary Archaeological Park of Copรกn. After lunch, transfer to airstrip for 45min charter flight to Flores. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to hotel for rest. Visit a smaller and secluded ruin Yaxha where you will enjoy beautiful sunset view.

It is among the worlds travel wonders and rank with Chechen Itza as one of the top Mayan archaeological site. Visit the ruins of Tikal including more than 3,000 structures extending over six square miles - palaces, temples, ceremonial platforms, ball courts, terraces, plazas, avenues and steam baths. The view from top of Temple IV is spectacular.

Overnight: Las Lagunas, Tikal Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 12 03rd FEB (MON) TIKAL / YAXCHILAN / BONAMPAK / PALENQUE A truly adventurous and exciting day today! Drive for 2 hours and take boat down the mighty Usumacinta River to the mysterious ancient Maya site of Yaxchilan. This incredible boat ride through the rainforest with its huge trees and abundant wildlife makes you feel like you are in an Indiana Jones movie! The tremendous archaeological site of Yaxchilan, situated on the riverbanks, rises in levels to temples with breath taking views of the rainforest stretching far into Guatemala. Bonampak, home of famous Mayan murals. Their ancient colors remain clear and vital, making them an excellent representation of Mayan art. At the end of the day, drive 4 hours to Palenque for overnight.

DAY 13 04th FEB (TUE) PALENQUE This is rated by many as the greatest of all Mayan sites! Started as a farming village from 100 B.C., Palenque offers the visitor an excellent example of success in Maya architecture and sculpture, displayed in buildings such as the famous Temple of the Inscriptions, which was the final dwelling of the powerful king, Pakal; the magnificent Palace, with its tower and stuccos; the North Group; the Temple of the Count and the group of the Temple of the Cross, the Temple of the Foliated Cross, and the Temple of the Sun, which still hide some secrets for the investigators. Visit the Palenque Museum displaying finds from the site.
