This coed, K-12 Quaker day school in Philadelphia took the suggestion and followed the college model in the redesign of their 2-color magazine into a full 4-color one using double page spread features as well as varied and interesting departments. The magazine was repositioned for all-school readership appeal rather than an alumni-only audience and soon became an award winner. The community response was overwhelming. Upon receiving the first issue, an alumnus from Sweden was prompted to write a congratulatory note to the head of school and express his wishes to return for reunion. Penn Charter has seen continued success with the 4-color magazine in subsequent issues. The type treatment for the banner of the magazine drove the design for the logo that was used for the viewbook, the capital campaign and subsequent school-wide branding. Designed by David Beagin.
