Kim & Gen go to Geneva,
Our interview with Kim Ingram and Gen Lisle on their amazing trip to Watches and Wonders .
by shivani vora
The entire city focuses on the week of Watches and Wonders. The Watchmaking Village
Switzerland
Geneva’s Watches and Wonders show, which debuted in 2022, is where the future of timekeeping is unveiled — a gathering of legendary maisons, cutting-edge technology, and impeccable artistry. For our owner, Kim Ingram, and store manager and Rolex Liason Gen Lisle, who have both attended in previous years, the experience was both inspiring and enlightening. As official guests of Rolex, they were among the privileged few to discover the brand's 2025 models, a topic that has generated much buzz in the watch industry for the last year.
From the latest Rolex debuts and emerging watch trends to their favorite mo ments in Switzerland, Ingram and Lisle returned to Oklahoma with stories — and insights — worth sharing.
what were some of the new trends from rolex?
kim: The most significant trend for Rolex and also in Watches and Wonders was the Rolex Land-Dweller, which is the first new Rolex model since 2012. It’s huge because it’s built with Rolex’s first high-frequency mechanical movement, marking a technical leap forward.
gen: The design is also striking because it’s vintage-inspired. It looks very fluid between the case and the bracelet as if they are one.
kim:: My favorite watch was the Daytona with a new turquoise dial. It's very striking and is suitable for any gender. This one will get you a lot of compliments when you wear it.
gen: The focus on dial colors was significant for Rolex this year. Besides the Daytona, Rolex's Oyster Perpetuals are now available in lavender, pistachio green, and beige. The brand took us by surprise with its dials, which are in fun, genderless colors, and the tones are muted.
in addition to the show, did rolex host other events?
kim:: Yes. We were invited to Rolex headquarters in Geneva, which is an architectural masterpiece with its glass facade. The inside is just as distinctive with its wood floors, green marble, and gold accents. What’s really cool is how there are signs everywhere paying homage to the brand’s long history. One that I’ll never forget is a quote in French from Rolex’s founder, Hans Wilsdorf, on a green marble wall. It’s translated as “Above all, do good work.”
gen: Once we got there, we were wined and dined. We started off the night with a cocktail hour in the lobby. The best part was when Luca Bernasconi, who is the president of Rolex in the U.S., led us to a glass gallery where we saw a watch restoration workshop.
From there, we moved to an event space, where we sat down to a formal multicourse dinner with Rolex colleagues from the U.S. But the night wasn’t over after dinner. The scene moved to another room that had been transformed into an oldtime speakeasy. A live band entertained us with songs from the 1920s and 1930s as we mingled with other guests and Luca.
could you tell us about how geneva transformed in response to the show?
gen: The entire city focuses on the week of Watches and Wonders and plans activities around the show. We experienced many of these. I loved the Watchmaking Village in the city center, where we had an opportunity to participate in a watch assembly workshop. I learned a lot about the process as a result.
how did the atmosphere at the show compare to previous years? did you notice any shift in tone or focus?
kim: This year saw the highest number of attendees in the show’s history, and it was a very high-energy event. It was fun to walk through the show because all the brands offer a unique experience, and the celebrity brand ambassadors often make appearances.
Roger Federer is a brand ambassador for Rolex and came this year, which was very exciting. Van Cleef’s booth was a standout for the decor alone, which looked like a forest wonderland.
gen: I’ll never forget IWC’s booth —the brand had the Formula One racecar from Brad Pitt’s “F1” movie; it was the car that crashed during the filming.
did you see parallels between what’s happening in fine watchmaking and what’s trending in high jewelry?
kim: For sure. Precious metals watches, especially models crafted with 18-carat yellow gold, are very highly sought after right now. This uptick has also happened in the past few years with yellow gold jewelry. I see this with the jewelry brands we offer at the store - our clients are increasingly interested in designer yellow gold jewelry.
The meticulous craftsmanship that goes into precious metal watches and designer jewelry is hand in hand.
what takeaways do you have from the trip about rolex that you’d like to pass on to your clients?
gen: Rolex is a highly desirable watch brand, whether you’re a serious collector or buying your first high-end watch. The brand is built for a lifetime.
kim: Watches and Wonders brought to life how Rolex sets the standard for watchmaking in Geneva. The brand is the industry leader and made the Geneva show the grand event it is. It’s nice to be able to share this with our clients.

A Trip to WATCH COUNTRY
Exploring the villages within the famed Vallée de Joux, Switzerland is time well spent.
While driving around the mountains and valleys outside Geneva, it’s hard to believe that many of the world’s most famous and fabulous watches are made there. The biggest names in the industry—Rolex, Hublot, Breitling—are located in the little villages nestled in these verdant, rural Swiss valleys in and around Geneva. It is in these villages that renowned watchmakers work their magic, all the while viewing grazing cows and church steeples outside their windows. The first watchmakers, legend holds, were farmers who used the many months of snowy winter to hone their watchmaking skills, and today the industry flourishes in this same quiet, bucolic setting.
The village of Le Solliat is home to arguably the most famous watchmaker of today: Philippe Dufour, as well as of yesteryear: Louis François Reymond, the watchmaker to King Louis XVI of France.
Mr. Dufour’s atelier, in a former schoolhouse where his daughters used to attend classes, and which he shares today with a cheesemaker, is right next door to the farmhouse where Mr. Reymond made the King’s timepiece. Driving around this village and others, it’s easy to find the farmhouses where watchmakers are at work, Mr. Dufour says— just look for homes with an extra-large expanse of windows, since excessive natural light is a necessity for executing the intricacies of this profession.
Mr. Dufour grew up barely a stone’s throw from where he works today, in the neighboring village of Le Sentier, where he attended the École Technique, which has trained many of the current and future watchmakers. When students graduate, they have merely to head down the street to find work at Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin. Or they can go a few kilometers farther, to the village
