PURPOSE BUILT
From Formula 1 to the Tour de France and even the depths of the ocean, TUDOR’S watches are made to endure every challenge.
Precision is at the heart of sport, where timing is everything. From a Formula 1 driver’s unparalleled skill, determination, and instincts to a world champion freediver’s ascent to the surface after a record dive, timing is critical to their success. TUDOR’s founder Hans Wilsdorf set out from the beginning to craft robust watches offering superlative timekeeping in physically challenging situations. Today, Tudor has established partnerships with some of the top players, teams, and athletic organizations around the globe. These relationships inform the brand's authentic approach to its sport watches, making them truly purpose-built tools. Here, we take a deeper look at these timepieces and the sports that have informed their designs from the inside out.
DAVID BECKHAM AND THE BURGUNDY BLACK BAY 58
Tudor and soccer are such a perfect match, it feels like they’ve been in partnership for decades. However, David Beckham has only been a Tudor global brand ambassador since 2017. That year, he joined Tudor’s “Born to Dare” campaign and helped to position the Black Bay as a brand with a rugged and stylish edge, appealing to a broader audience.
The new Burgundy Black Bay 58 is a classic steeped in heritage – drawing its inspiration from Tudor’s 1950s divers watches. While it may seem like an out-of-the-box choice for Beckham, the athlete is in fact a certified scuba diver, and he's dabbled in freediving. Like the pro-footballer, the latest Black Bay 58 is equal parts performance and style with a rich burgundy color scheme and, for the first time, a 5-link bracelet with a T-fit rapid adjustment clasp.
INTER MIAMI FC AND THE BLACK BAY CHRONO PINK
Tudor doubled down on its work with the sport of soccer in 2024, becoming the Official Timekeeper of Inter Miami FC (which is – fun fact – co-owned by Beckham himself). For the occasion, the brand built on the Black Bay line with a special edition in the team’s signature colors: pink and black. The bold chrono maintains the performance you’ve come to expect from the Black Bay line, from the 200 meters of waterproofness and 70 hr. power reserve, to the manufacture COSC-certified movement. The pink dial and crisp black bezel are the cherry on top of this sport model.
FREEDIVING WORLD CHAMPION MORGAN BOURC'HIS
AND THE PELAGOS ULTRA
Circling back to David Beckham’s foray into freediving, we make our way to another sport matchup for Tudor. The soccer Hall of Famer joined forces with longtime friend of the brand Morgan Bourc'his to train in the art of freediving. Bourc'his work with Tudor has been going strong for over a decade. It started with an ad for the brand’s most serious diver, the Pelagos, and has since led to other collaborations like the more recent “Dare to Dive” campaign. Compared to the Black Bay, the Pelagos is optimized for pro divers. The latest introduction to the collection –the Pelagos Ultra – is the most technically capable yet. It features the signature titanium build and now a whopping 1000-meter depth rating. The lume in two colors (blue and green) enhances visibility in low light conditions, and a totally redesigned three-link bracelet with a T-fit clasp, safety catch, and diver’s extension with a new visual indicator system.
GIRO D’ITALIA GRAND TOUR AND THE PELAGOS FXD CHRONO “PINK”
The initial Tudor Pelagos FXD Cycling Edition features an all-black design with relatively subtle red and white accents. However, in the subsequent additions within the partnership, Tudor has gotten increasingly bold. Earlier this year, the brand introduced a new pink version in honor of the Giro D’Italia Grand Tour. Tudor became the Official Timekeeper of the iconic three-week-long race back in 2023. Inspired by the Maglia Rosa, or “pink jersey,” worn by the winner, the Pelagos FXD Chrono gets a splash of hot pink around the unique tachymeter scale, as well as the chronograph registers and the pink striped strap.
FABIAN CANCELLARA
AND THE PELAGOS FXD CHRONO “YELLOW”
The most recent release within the cycling realm celebrates the Tudor Pro Cycling Team’s Tour de France debut. It marks Fabian Cancellara’s return to the Tour for the first time since 2016 in his new role as team owner. He is the winner of multiple Olympic and World Championships. In 2022, he took ownership of the Swiss Racing Academy Team then tapped Tudor as a partner soon after and rebranded to the Tudor Pro Cycling Team that led to the first Pelagos FXD Cycling Edition. This latest model takes the bright yellow color of the 'Maillot Jaune' (yellow jersey) worn by the Tour race leader, to give the Pelagos FXD Chrono its most audacious look yet.
VISA CASH APP RB FORMULA ONE TEAM AND THE BLACK BAY CHRONO “CARBON 25”
We revisit the Black Bay Collection and another high-speed sport: Formula One.
Cars, racing, and watches have long gone hand-in-hand. Like many watchmakers, Tudor first got involved in motorsports back in the heyday of the 1960s.
Today, the brand is putting its support behind the young Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team. For the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25,” functionality remains at the forefront with a lightweight case rendered entirely in carbon fiber. It houses an impressive COSC-certified manufacture movement for ultimate precision in timing every aspect of the race. The design is topped off with the team’s signature blue in accents across the dial and in the stitching on the hybrid leather-rubber strap with a “tire pattern.”
SARAH HIRINI AND THE BLACK BAY CERAMIC
For our last stop through Tudor’s sport-fueled timekeepers, we return to the field. The brand’s work with the captain of the Black Ferns Sevens rugby team Sarah Hirini. She became one of New Zealand’s first contracted female rugby players in 2013 and has since led her team to become Olympic Champions in Tokyo and six-time World Series winners. Her model of choice is the Black Bay Ceramic, which boasts a slew of features from its lightweight ceramic build to its dually COSC and METAS-certified manufacture caliber.

Umberto Cazzola perpetuates his family history and the goldsmithing lineage of the Vicenza region through FOPE’s signature 18-karat gold collections infused with the brand’s proprietary Flex’it technology.
BY cait bazemore
n Italy, in the town of Vicenza, also known as the “City of Gold ” is where our story begins. Its heritage, where artisans crafted with the precious metals, dates back to the 8th century BC with the Paleo-Venetians. The region later formalized its specialization in metalworking in the 14th century with the formation of the Vicenza Guild of Goldsmiths. These traditions continue today with Vicenza continuing to be Italy’s leader in gold jewelry design, production, and innovation.
For the Vicenza-based FOPE, innovation is at the core. The brand was founded in 1929 by Umberto Cazzola, Senior, just a few years before the outbreak of World War II. After the war, what had started as a modest artisan workshop with around 20 employees expanded under the next generation of family leadership, guided by Umberto’s son, Odino. During this time, FOPE invented a new world-first technology for flexible gold watch bracelets and became a key supplier for Swiss watch brands in the 1950s. “Global crises never halted FOPE’s creativity,” shares Umberto Cazzola, Junior, grandson and namesake of the founder. “In my generation and the next, we evolved into jewelry makers and developed new technologies that have come to define our brand today as a leader in the industry.”
Odino’s children, Umberto Cazzola, Junior, and his sister, Ines Cazzola, carried on the family business, with another monumental innovation emerging in the 1980s. Here, FOPE introduced the development of its iconic Novecento gold mesh chain, a soft weave obtained by hooking the components without the use of soldering, which has since become a central part of the company’s design language. When you think of Italian fashion, you might immediately envision very bold and maximalist designs. However, FOPE takes a different approach. “Our aim is to create more subtle, understated, and timeless luxury that can be worn with ease in everyday life, no matter the occasion,” confirms Umberto Cazzola, Junior.

HAL DAVIS
Into the new millennium, FOPE has continued to set the standard for gold technologies, perpetuating both the legacy of the brand and the legacy of the famed goldsmithing region. In 2007, the Italian jewelry house patented a groundbreaking advancement called Flex’it. We see the evolution of Flex’it beginning to take shape decades prior in FOPE’s experimentation with the flexible gold bracelets used in the watchmaking industry. Flex’it marries this concept with the brand’s trademark Novecento gold chain by integrating microscopic 18-karat gold springs into the mesh’s construction.
For FOPE, inspiration has always come from the rich history of metalworking in the Vicenza region that it has called home for nearly a century. However, the brand has also always been forward-thinking and focused on the new technologies available. Combining such a deep lineage of artisanal goldwork with contemporary innovations is no small feat when upholding the integrity of the brand’s minimalist and timeless designs is at the core.
It took two years for FOPE to master its proprietary Flex’it technology successfully, and according to Umberto Cazzola, Junior, “the most difficult part of perfecting the Flex’it technology was designing the springs themselves, specifically in 100% gold from the region.”
To do so, FOPE enlisted a team of expert engineers in its state-of-the-art Vicenza factory to design and build a unique machine to execute the technology. The result is exceptional 18karat gold jewelry that is elasticated and completely stretchable, comfortable, and effortless to wear. It encompasses various types of jewelry produced by the brand, ranging from bracelets and necklaces to earrings and rings, each with its unique style and design, which takes different lengths of time to create and complete, depending on the intricacy of the composition.
Now, FOPE’s Flex’it collection is considered the brand’s signature unisex line of jewelry, worn by both male and female clients alike, from collectors to celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Poppy Delevingne, and Colman Domingo. Because of the gorgeous restraint and simplicity of the designs within the flagship Flex’It range, the pieces are easily layered together, worn alone, or incorporated with other jewelry in the wearer’s personal collection. Today, the Flex’it collection includes both 18-karat yellow, white, and rose gold pieces, which further adds to its versatility and overall wearability.
In case you still need more convincing of FOPE’s value proposition in the world of precious metal jewelry, you can also shop with confidence. Aside from offering a unique spin on traditional gold jewelry, FOPE’s designs are also made with respect to sustainability. In 2014, the brand became a certified member of the Responsible Jewelry Council, guaranteeing the quality and traceability of its gold and diamonds as well as the ethical production of its jewelry. FOPE jewelry is available for purchase online directly from the brand’s site or at a variety of authorized retailers spanning more than 50 countries worldwide.
“The most difficult part of perfecting the Flex’it technology was designing the springs themselves, specifically in 100% gold from the region.”

“The enduring worth of our jewelry goes far beyond monetary value alone.” Greg Kwiat
THE BEAUTY OF KWIAT’S NATURAL DIAMONDS
From rough diamonds to proprietary cuts to final ring settings, every step matters. When you own a Kwiat Tiara Diamond, provenance is always a point of pride.
For more than a century, Kwiat has been among the top jewelers setting the bar for diamond quality and jewelry design. “When we talk about the quality of our diamonds, we’re talking about the extremely high standards we have for cut,” says Greg Kwiat, the CEO of Kwiat and a great-grandson of the founder, Sam Kwiat. No other brand maintains such strict parameters. “This has been the guiding principle of our company since 1907,” Greg continues, “and it remains our North Star: our diamonds should always be cut to be as beautiful and brilliant as possible.”
These impressive standards were the impetus for the 2023 launch of Kwiat Tiara Diamonds, a collection of seven iconic shapes perfectly cut to optimize the brilliance and beauty of the natural stone. The proprietary shapes include Kwiat Cushion, Kwiat Round, Kwiat Emerald Cut, Kwiat Radiant, Kwiat Oval, and Fred Leighton Round — an old European-inspired cut named for the company’s sister brand, a renowned house of antique jewels. Kwiat is also the only source in the United States for the coveted ASHOKA diamond, an elongated shape with a unique faceting pattern.
a cut above the rest
When it comes to diamond cutting more broadly, there are two primary components to consider: brilliance and weight. Since natural diamonds are sold by carat weight, the prevailing line of thought throughout the entire history of within the diamond industry has always been to maximize weight whenever possible. However, Kwiat takes the opposite approach. “Whenever you’re cutting a rough diamond into a polished stone, there’s always tension between preserving weight and cutting the most beautiful diamond possible,” explains Greg. “At Kwiat, we always – without fail – favor cutting the most beautiful diamond, even if it means a lower carat weight.”
a diamond in the rough
In recent years, knowing the provenance of your diamond has become the ultimate status symbol. But following your diamond throughout its entire journey — from the mine of origin to the planning, cutting, and final design — had not been possible… until now.
By leveraging nearly 120 years of experience, Kwiat is uniquely positioned to evolve the diamond industry, differentiating the way it purchases, cuts, and sells diamonds.
With longstanding relationships across all layers of the supply chain, Kwiat can track each natural stone through cutting, polishing, creating the setting, and mounting the diamond, while eliminating middlemen along the way. It’s all part of their Mine to Shine program, a highly personalized way to buy a natural, conflict-free, and ethically mined rough diamond — chosen, cut, and crafted just for you. “In an industry like ours, knowledge and relationships are really part of the secret to success,” Greg says. “This directly translates to
the sourcing and transparency we can provide to our customers through programs like Mine to Shine.”
Throughout the process, Kwiat captures 360-degree videos of the dia-
mond: planning, cutting, and polishing, as well as designing and crafting its setting. Completed rings are delivered in a keepsake velvet jewelry box, complete with GIA and GCAL reports, plus a Kwiat Tiara Diamond Report and a Certificate of Authenticity, along with a q12 code leading to the full video of the diamond’s journey.
By ethically sourcing diamonds from known origins, Kwiat instills confidence in the investment you’re making. The brand is also supporting the economies of mining regions, benefitting schools, hospitals, and other community resources. In addition, with each purchase, Kwiat donates to the nonprofit organization charity: water, which provides a family in need with clean drinking water.
a lifetime of beauty
No matter how you cut it, every natural diamond has two origin stories. There’s the most literal, the mine from which it was extracted. Then, after it’s cut, polished, set, and mounted in a breathtaking engagement ring, a diamond writes a new chapter as a symbol of joy and love.
“Over the years, I’ve seen what we call ‘the life cycle’ of a piece of jewelry from the day it’s first given, then worn and appreciated for many years, before ultimately being passed on to the next generation,” shares Greg. “Once it becomes a part of someone’s life, it begins to take on meaning through each moment it’s worn: a wedding, the birth of a child, a graduation. When I see someone wearing jewelry that’s been passed down, it’s done with such pride in the memories and love represented,” he continues. “That’s why the enduring worth of our jewelry goes far beyond monetary value.”
Each Mine to Shine purchase is delivered in a bespoke jewelry box, which includes a replica of your rough diamond and a QR code leading to a video of your diamond’s journey.
A nice off duty look is a gold chain with a few personal pendants. The key to not coming off like Mr. T is getting the proportions right, like a slim metal chain with delicate links.

Most artists use paint as their medium, Niveet Nagpal creates his exquisite masterpieces from colorful gemstones and diamonds, sourced from all over the world: rubies and sapphires from Myanmar, alexandrite from Brazil, emeralds from India, purple garnets from Mozambique and more. Often, the stones—handpicked by the award-winning master jeweler for their incredible size, beauty and uniqueness—become the inspiration for his signature pieces.
“When you spend time with a truly exceptional gemstone, that’s when the beauty reveals itself — when the love, the connection, and the magic happen.
