CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS 7th semester

Rhythm, repetition, transformation and geometry were the important priciples in RHYTHM the evolution of the design. Theme rhythm is chosen for the design because it symbolises any art form. The concept iss evolved right from the zoning of the site. REPETITION The shapes that together form squares are used in different elements in ascending and descending progression. Site and landscaping are so designed to encourage student practice and gathering places. Pargolas with tendrils and extended roofs are used as shading purposes. Seperate parking lots are provided for auditorium, hostel and guest rooms. Stepped seating areas and plants are in rhythematic pattern all along the academic block. PRACTICE PLACES LOCATED STRATEGICALLY ACCORDING TO THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE SITE

OAT is reached from academic block through gallery that has wall planters to stepped seating areas.All the priciples followed are aesthetically justified.

Common amenities and infrastructure like market place, community hall and school are provided abutting the road for easier access. Proper green spaces are provided as per the SFI of the site. Three road types are incorporated to seggregate vehicular and pedestrian movement. Light and ventilation are the main charecteristic features of the whole design process. Orientation of the blocks are also dependent of the core features. The slum is developed to be self sufficient on its own creating job oppurtunities within the site. It has employment in sources like market, water treatmentplant, school and community hall. Clusters are designed to have maximum perimeter of the common walls thus cutting the cost in huge extent, maintaining privacy

Common amenities like school and community hall are provided for the residents of the slum. Community hall is used for their marriages, meetings, festivals and their usual functions. Since education for all is the key for the next generation it is situated within the site viscinity since there are no schools around for 15km radius.

ADMINISTRATION BLOCK

THESIS

It is a proposed site for IIM, Trichy by the Govt. of India. Site is divided stragically to accomodate all the requirements of a state of art management institution. All the blocks are seperated from one another to have the luxury of future expansion. All the blocks consist individual parking. Roads are planned in such a way to have good inter connectivity. A central spine road is focused towards the retention pond through which all the supplementary roads branch out to the respective blocks. surplus green pockets are provided for better interaction and healthy atmosphere. Dense green spaces are used as buffer spaces from each usable space. 1.Academic block: The motive in designing the academic block was to create ample interaction zones. Staff rooms and classrooms, Seminar halls are seperated with central green zone used as interaction zone. A studio and 80 capacity seminar halls for large gatherings is seperated from main block. Workshops and computer lab is also branched out. 2.Admin block: It meets all the requirements for the function of IIM with all necessary offices. It ACADEMIC BLOCK consists of a courtyard space The main admin offices are seperated from the staff administration and regular office staff spaces such alumini office, placements section etc.


MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT CENTER (MDC)

3. MDC: It is placed at the start of the site for the convinience of the outsiders attending seminars. It consist of rooms, syndicate rooms, conference halls, dining and kitchen, gymnasium, multi purpose rooms, laundry and pantry. A set of seminar halls are attached to the block with surplus green spaces around

4. LIBRARY : It is placed ideally and centered to the academic, hostels and staff quarters. complete glass towards the south floods in light and ventilation into the user place. Sun’s path is the motivation for its design. It is equipped with conference room, audio visual room and internet facility for the students and good amenities for the working staff at the block.

4.FOOD COURT: Multi-cuisine foodcourt consists of inddor and outdoor dining with a mezanine floor hosting hobby rooms and activity rooms for leisure. It also is equipped with a study room in the first floor central courtyard gives a lively feel to the user. It is the most soothing spaces of IIM HOSTEL FOOD COURT


INSTITUTE FOOD COURT : REGULAR KITCHEN & DINING, OUTDOOR SEATING, STALLS OF MNC FOOD COURTS, TOILETS AND STORAGE . MULTI LEVEL BLOCK.

6.COLLEGE FOOD COURT: A courtyard with outdoor seating divides the retail sellers and the institutes food. Both faculty and students have the same dinig for interaction purposes. Ample amount of storage is provided. Block is situated ideally near the academic block.

7. FACULTY HOUSING: Each unit consists of 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room with minimum circulation space. A small patio is incorporated at the midlevel of the staircase for leisure. Both the bedrooms consist of attached bathrooms one of which opens from the living area also. 8. MARRIED HOUSING UNIT: It is 80 sqm unit with one bedroom, kitchen and living room for married students. It consists of small meeting point in the corridor for interactions and also consists of a patio at midlevel of the staircase for leisure.

8181, A semi detached house designed to have utmost privacy and individual liesure spaces. Plan is made to suffice all the requirements with ample open spaces. Thought process was to create more common spaces in the layout to create social relationship amongst the dwellers. Double height windows are provided to absord more light and air into the living space. Building foot print is put to minimum to have more nature around 8181.

Market leasable area merged with Row housing together named MarketRow for the project. Entrance and parking are split on either sides of the site catering to each facility individually. Row houses recieve south sun in surplus. Large curtain wall provides good amount of light and ventilation. Approach to the design was to reduce circulation space and increase living space in the units. All the units open into terrace garden from second floor which is roof of commercial space. Commercial block is planned with simple and easy maneuverability.

Existing grage space is planned to be renovated into day care center for toddlers of age from 1-6yrs. clear view points for caretackers to the children is focussed with good recreational facilities within and also in the site are provided. A dining hall, medical assistance, video interaction room with ample number of toilets are provided for best health of kids.

The residence is built to sensualize and rejuvinate the senses of mankind with copious space of deck and habitable area. It is designed giving significance to west elevation upon clients request. Most of the activity spaces are concentrated towards west like living room and open kitchen. An huge garage is attched making it form t-shape. Road is towards the garage and rest of the residence faces towards the fields. Egress is provided to lightup the bedrooms in the basement level. Sky lights and ample number of openings are provided to let in natural light and keep the warmth in the interior space.

JJ RESIDENCE DESIGN CREW

RANCH HOUSE Ranch house is angled between garage and living area to suite the site topography. Angled entrance is welcoming and has its own gradeur. Garage is interconnected to the house through a vestibule through office space which leads to kitchen and storage. Adjacent to the kitchen is a great vaulted living room which is very well lit and open to scenic views. All the trees are restored in the site. All the day activity is concentrated at the centre on both the levels and night activity towards west of the house. A cozy deck opens out from the living area with nice stoned feature walls enhancing the beauty of the facade.

THE ‘U’ DESIGN CREW

MIXED UTILITY DEVELOPMENT

The project ‘u’ consists of seperate commercial and residencial blocks sharing common recreation space inbetween them. Both these blocks are joined together with the help of a bridge overlooking into the recreational zone. The commercial block consists of a day care center, cafe, sports retail and a restaurent in the ground floor. Restaurents’s seating is extended into the recreational space which is englufed in a glass block. The commercial block’s floor plates slide one upon other. Cantilivered portion provides shade at the entrance and on the top it attains lavish deck space which opens out into office spaces and fitness center.

RECREATION SPACE


The reisdential cluster is designed to get good views of the adjacent roads and outdoor space. Windows are punched out to give a platform to sit with a niche on the inside. This helps in the facade treatment of the block. The residential cluster is connected to the commercial block on the second level and consists a seperate core for its own use. Recreation zone boasts of a projector screen for public viewing during game seasons. A indoor rock climbing wall is installed alongside childrens play area. Since the project is in Des moines most of the activity is planned indoor inside a glass shell to protect from the peak winters of the place. According to reasearch of that place most of the citizens wanted an indoor recreation area during their long winter season.


URBAN GREEN LINE DESIGN CREW

MIXED UTILITY DEVELOPMENT The concept of urban green line sprouted with the implementation of green elements like roof gardens, vertical gardens in the project. Major mass of both the clusters face towards south towards Martin Luther Kings parkway. The appraoch was to create neverending bond between mankind and nature. Both the blocks are joined with the help of a green line filled with various kinds of species in nature. very minimal amount of space is used for the construction of mass not compromising the interior space. Most of the site is preserved of existing nature and adding more beauty to it with hardscape.

The concept originated was to have identical blocks on either side of the site overlooking upon the green line from all the sides. The block is ataggered onto the southern side to gain more mass onto the abutting road to get a vast view. An angled entry is chosen to give a welcoming feel to the user. A basemnt level parking is given through which lift cars individually travel to residential and commercial spaces. Each residential floor plan is planned to have least amount of circulation space. Common space between the units is used for liesure activities and barbecue parties of the users, this space overlooks upon the urban green line on west and east facades. All the children bedrooms are designed in playful shapes at the edges of the units. The 4th and 5th floors are priviledged to have an additional common space for small gatherings. All units have an opening into balconies to let in the light into the habitable space. This project reduces the utility of artificial light. A retention pond is incorporated to restore the rain water and harvest for the site and also to increase ground water level. A jogging track is instilled around the pond at a safe distance for recreational purpose of the residents.

East facing villa emphasised on utmost grandeur with traditional elements and grand entry from the foyer defines the dignity of living. The super luxury villa constructed in classical style is a real head turner. It is designed for a small family with all possible luxuries incorporated in the layout. Both the east and west facing villas are designed with intrinsic care and replicating the same elements being used in both of them in the same site to maintain harmony. Classical style merged with nature is the perfect combination to go back to the begining of our civilisations. The aim was to define luxury inspired by the construction of forts and castles of late centuries and reviving back the ideas to modern era.

TRININTY CONCEPT

Trininty is developed to the cater to the luxury class with sustainable elements incorporated into the project. The aim was to create a apartment unit which is DESIGN EVOLUTION open to the views of 3 sides around it. So with this as the concept the evoulution of design started. It consists of terraces for each floor individually for each flat at all the levels with roof garden. Lobby space is also used as drawing room to have a chat with the guest at each level. Each level consists of four individual flats with lavish layout. Glass is installed all around the living space letting the light flood into the space. Top floors consist of duplex apartments enhancing the grandeur of the apartment.

TYPICAL FLOOR PLAN: Four elliptical units are arranged tangent to eachother. The space between the flats is used as coomon terrace space between them. A floor plate alternates one on anothers with 45 degree deflection creating terrace space amidst it. DUPLEX APARTMENT: The same method is followed as the typical but with two levels in the unit with additional space.


Site consists of 4 blocks with plenty amenities around it like tennis courts, basketball court, skating rink, badminton court, retention pond, solar panels space, retail store, walking track, interaction zones and surface parking. It also holds a luxury club house with swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurent and bar, jacuzzi and spa and a common multipurpose hall for the society. All the car parking is in the basement SITE PLAN level serving for all the blocks individually. drop offs and minimum surface parking is provided for immediate needs. Club house is the focal point for all the blocks which is situated at the center of them all. It is designed to be climate responsive conserving artificial enrgys from being utilised. Terraces at each floor also consist of solar panels which get good sun light at all times.

CSI CHURCH LOCATION - PULIVENDULA,INDIA

FREELANCE

Church project is actually demolishing the existing church and constructing a new church for larger capacity. A mezzanine floor is added to accomodate more people. stilt floor is provided for parking facility of the congregation because there is no space left around the site. Along with the fellowship area church also consists of a kitchen and guest rooms for pastors coming from different place in the stilt and office space, library and pastoral commitee rooms in the first floor. Toilets are provided as per standards. Church is planned to be barrier free design so that old and differently abled people can access the prayer hall easily. It consists of 2 staircases, lift and a ramp to meet the need. It is a cost effective construction with minimal expenditure on facade and details. It is more simple and elegant in appearance.

IT CAMPUS LOCATION : HYDERABAD, INDIA It campus is located in prime locations of hyderabad near hitec city. cityscape at that location is more of modern style so a contemporary approch is taken up in designing the concept. According to the path of the sun from east to west towards south the block is assigned to take the same path. alternating operable windows with fixed windows are installed in the curtain wall to gain more light and ventilation. Cross ventilation was a criteria in designing. A central void is attained in the flow for interaction space in alternating floors which is common for both inside and outside blocks. within the block walls are curved to spill out spaces during work time to catchup a little with nature. All the blocks in the site are molded accordingly so that they coexist along with the nature.
