katse lodge katse lodeg is located in Katse Village, 250 km away from Maseru City. This facility will be a point of departure for visitors to a greater hospitality within Lesotho Tourism region to proclaim Basotho cultural identity, In particular, the project is aimed to enhance the lodge`s appeal as a tourist destination.

The concept of the main building is mainly derrived from basotho traditional shapes, which are the shapesthat are mostly found on basotho grafts and this shapes could also be found on the surrouding landscape, inspired by the mountains and valleys of the mountain kingdom. the dominant shapes include the triangle and a circle. All the opening are intented to be large and double glazed so as to capture the beatiful sarrounding scenary.

liphiring lodge Liphiring lodge,located in Machache Maseru, its a 30 min drive from the main city Maseru. This facility is aimed to expose how rich in history the mountain kingdom is through its neighbouring bushmen caves that are full of how the past life was in this place.

The only thing that came to my mind when designing this lodge was the history of how people(bushmen) in the passed lived here and the practices they have during those times. This is where one of their main daiy activities came in tho my mind, ( hunting). the concept of this building came from the animal skin.

They will streach the skin (ho thakhisa) with sticks to let it dry then later use it in many other ways. This is where the main structure of the building was born. The process is much explained with illistration on the next page.

Maseru mixed use creatives hub (live work)

Mixed-use centers are a lot more appealing to the latest way of living and lifestyles, they have got that 24/7 use and feel, where you can walk from your residence and get on the street, go shopping and go to the bar or restaurant, and you don’t have to get in your car. They have a lot more curb appeal. Given the remarkably changing demographics of Maseru and the change in its people’s lifestyles and cities demands, the increasing need for sustainable buildings/development

and a need to bring people’s habitable spaces closer to towns they work and live in, shop and entertain themselves in, there is a huge underlying need to start building cities/buildings that address the people in the cities’s immediate needs and lifestyles stated aboveGMixed-use buildings where one can walk from their apartment upstairs to their office on floors below and maybe a restaurant and shops on ground floors without having to get in their car.

Given the above, was required to design a mixed-use structure that is cognizant of the above need, structure that is technologically modern and addresses its intended purpose and is reflective of the current lifestyle demands and needs and that is architecturally sound and pleasant,The structure should be very modern but should incorporate and play around with elements and materials that pay

homage to our country’s vernacular heritage. i did have freedom over where and what your design should draw form from (and theme), and should have a strong sense of “hi tech� feel to it. I did explore and understand principals of architectural design / elements of both modern and vernacular architecture and allow these to guide and govern my design feature-wise and structurally.

These include, though not limited to the state of the environment regarding solid and liquid waste, litter and illegal dumps.

The obvious impact is usually incidents of diarrhoeal diseases and aesthetics. Aesthetics has a direct link with tourism potential in the area and the need for economic diversification such as Lesotho Durham Link who provides accommodation and related amenities to both local and international tourists.To this note, the capacity of the local authorities to clean the environment throughout the city, especially Maqalika Dam area is limited.

African Gospel Church Located on top of a plateau Auplas Tsoelike, the project takes its inspiration from the earth mount (seholo) to the topography of the land. The surrounding landscape offers a strong contrast of colours and depth, creating a rich changing background from day time tonight time for the church’s settlement.

The Church has a concrete structure and uses white crepe finish for its façades. Its dynamic shape follows the adjacent curved road that crosses the site. The dialogue between the outside and the inside space is emphasized by the play of shadows and light that creates complexity and depth in the reading of the space.

Its elements are thought to reflect harmony and tranquility in this place for prays and celebration.

Maseru city bus shelter Maseru as a capital city in Lesotho has a few bus shelter that are pre-cast concrete, you will find most of them in the west part of the city. The new design will bring new modern feel to the city; these shelters are designed for the comfort of those who prefer to use the public transport system to reach their destinations instead of their motor vehicle.

This assists with the saving of the greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere, and there for saving the environment. The shelters will also help to generate income for their repairs through their capability of advertising on them.The shelter will not be connected to city electricity grid as they will be generating their own power during the day. This will provide power for the advertising space that will be lighted during the night.
