Important information regarding play in the Ladies Member-Guest Tournament:
If for some unforeseen reason, we have a cancellation within the three days prior to the Tournament, it will be resolved as follows:
We will call the next team on the waiting list.
If that team’s handicap coincides with the team that withdraws, they will be placed in that flight. This will continue through the waiting list until we find a team that places in that flight.
If no team with a handicap for that flights is available, each team in that flight will play against par. A marker will be provided if a team must play against par.
If a team incurs an injury or illness during the Member-Guest Tournament it will be resolved as follows:
A member of the team may elect to play the match by herself.
If a member of the team decides to play alone, she must play the remaining matches by herself. The player cannot change her mind once she has played this way. It is with the commitment to play all the remaining matches the same way.
If the team chooses not to play, their opponents will play against par.
FORMAT The tournament will be Four Ball (Better Ball of Partners) Match Play. Teams will be divided into flights based on combined handicaps of each team. Play will be off the low handicap in each match. Flights will consist of six teams for 18 holes and four teams for 9 holes. Each 18-hole team will play the other teams in their flight for a total of five matches, two on Thursday, two on Friday, and one on Saturday. Each 9-hole team will play the other teams in their flight for a total of three matches, one on Thursday, one on Friday and one on Saturday.
SPEED OF PLAY
We expect all tournament participants to strive to keep up with the players in front of them. If a team member is “out of the hole,” we ask that she “pick up” to improve pace of play. If you do not complete a hole, your score for that hole will be what you most likely would have had.
SCORING
All matches will play the full nine holes. The outcome of the match is determined by the number of holes won (1 point for a win) and tied (1/2 point for tying a hole) for a total of 9 points per match. No minuses for holes lost. The Pro Shop will issue scorecards for all matches.
TIES Ties for Flight Winners and/or Runners-Up will be determined based on the results of the Match played between the teams that are tied. If that match resulted in a tie, a sudden death match of cards will start from the first hole played in their match will decide the winner.
WEATHER The committee reserves the right to delay or shorten the Tournament, including cancelling a round, if inclement weather prevents playing a full schedule. Please be aware of our on-course Weather Alarm System: One long 15 second blast: Play must be suspended. Mark your ball and seek shelter immediately. Three consecutive 5 second blasts: Resume play.
It is the player’s responsibility to remain in contact with the Golf Shop (843-838-8250) during weather delays. We suggest you carry your cell phone in case of questions related to weather conditions, but please silence it unless there is an emergency.
SHOOT OUT RULES
The Shoot-Out will include the first-place member-guest team from each flight and will be played from designated yardage based off the individuals handicap indexes. In addition, a “wild card” entry spot in the Shoot Out will be given to any team that won all their matches, but not their flight. Handicaps will be 50% of the combined team total handicap and strokes will fall as on the card. Teams will play alternate shots after selecting the best of both tee shots.
The Shoot-Out will be played on Cotton Dike #18 as a Par 3. The individual hitting the tee shot will hit from a yardage based on their handicap index. The team will get to choose who hits the first tee shot, then the team will play alternate shot until the ball is holed. All teams will be playing alongside one another, if there is a tie(s) for low score on the hole, those teams will go back to the teeing ground and repeat. The player who did not hit the tee shot in the first round of the shootout will hit the tee shot for the second round also at a distance based off of their handicap index. We will repeat this until a Champion is crowned. The winner of the Shootout will be the Overall Member/Guest Champion.
Shootout order – 9 Hole Shootout then 18 Hole Shootout. All played on Cotton Dike #18.
POSTING OF SCORES Please ensure all participants hole-by-hole scores are recorded on the scorecard. The Handicap Committee will post the 18-hole scores as tournament scores.
