PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August #1 Announcement

It‘s been a while since we last made an updated press release and for that we have good reasons. Over the next few weeks you‘ll be able to find out exactly what we have been doing. For now, this announcement will be kept rather short and to the point. IRC Channels The most important update will be regarding the channels. Firstly we‘d like to apologise for the delay in the application process, it‘s been a very long and stressful time for both teams and admins. To help develop CyberGamer we have decided to base the IRC channels around the upcoming leagues and ladders. Today we will see all current cod.start teams transfered to cod.academy. The cod.academy channel will effectively become the equivalent of the cod.start channel. With all the teams moving over to academy, we will close down the cod.start channel. You may be asking, why would we do that? The simple reason is that we want ALL teams to be participating on CyberGamer, this will be very beneficial for the CyberGamer overall as well as the COD4 community. We have the ladders in place, specifically the CGa ladder (CyberGamer Amateur Ladder) however teams need to step up and make it active. Relying heavily on IRC is something we are trying to avoid, as it is an old program which is neither user-friendly, nor accessible, and we believe that focusing on our new leagues to determine skill level is a step in the right direction. Invite and preinvite will remain the same however we are no longer taking any applications as we have an upcoming league specifically for the teams in these channels. It will have a promotion/relegation system therefore all academy or any other team outside of these two channels, will need to participate on CyberGamer if they want to get in on the action. The requirements for cod.academy have been adjusted and the applications will remain on TEK9. The next announcement will contain details relating to the leagues/ladders, for which we have some great news!

Vita Nova Pickups We have replaced the Vita Nova Pickup service on IRC with our new PUG/Pickup service on www.CyberGamer.org. Nearly all of the currently VN Pickup administrators have also moved over to CG PUGs and with the increased activity we have also added multiple admins to ensure they are maintained to a high standard. Thanks to our partners, Immortal Servers, they have also provided CyberGamer with multiple servers for the upcoming leagues, ladders and of course, the PUG system. They have recently branched out to Germany for a more neutral server location, favourable for all teams around Europe.
