We have just started delivering fresh fruit and vegetable boxes in the local area to those who are Elderly, shielding, isolating or those who are struggling to shop- including NHS Staff and Key workers. YMCA Thames Gateway is opening their Temple Hill Nursery from 8am – 6pm, Monday-Friday for children of key workers. This is also during the Easter holidays. An after school service for those still attending their regular school setting may also be available on request. Enquiries can be made via emmamiddleton@ymcatg.org In addition, we are offering a weekly telephone call to over 18s who would like someone to speak to. This could be someone who lives on their own, someone who just needs someone to talk to throughout this situation, a single parent or even checking on someone whose main carer has gone to work in a key worker capacity. We recognise that many carers may be working extended hours and might not be able to see parents or others that they care for during this time, we will happily give them a regular call and check in with them and let the key worker know how they’re doing. We’d ask for the person’s name, contact number, best time to receive a call (Mon-Fri daytime) and confirmation that they are over 18 to be emailed to emmamiddleton@ymcatg.org and we can set this up – we will let them know who will be calling and what number they will call from so they know it’s us.
