ducing 204 horse power and 185 lbs per foot of torque. The new Lexus gets 30 miles on the highway and 21 in the city for an average of 24 miles per gallon. 18 for 27 362 yards 4 touchdowns day at Blackshear field. It marked the last game to be played in the 66-year old complex before a new one open in 2016. The Panthers fans can bill this one as the great one who got away. Gibbs started his football career with the Studewood Cobras and later starred at Booker T. Washington high school.. Knowing all the time this kid had special skills the staff at Alcorn State University watched closely as Gibbs with 10 of 11 passes in the Fiesta Booker-Bryant Memorial Classic his junior year winning the Rising Star award in the game they lost. But in his senior year Gibbs lead the Eagles to a 14-13 thriller of a win in the annual classic and walked away with the MVP. When we talked with Gibbs at Delmar Stadium following that win he told us he kept that Rising Star award near his dresser and he would say to

Sport and snow modes for those of you in cold weather states. The double wishbone suspension front and multi-link rear suspension gives you full control of the vehicle at all times. Power smoothly meets the pavement on optional 18-inch aluminum Alloy wheels Liquid graphite finish surrounded by front P255/40R 18-inch and rear 255/35R 18-inch summer tires. We are talking about Road grabbing performance rated tires here. Night driving is enhanced by high intensity discharge head lamps low and high beams and LED daytime running lights. Duel chrome exhaust tips gives the new Lexus an old school look at the rear but don’t be fooled by it because with the all flowing lines you know you are behind the wheel of a 2015 vehicle. Over the years Lexus has not only shown its luxurious side but is now showing styling to go along with it. This is a winning combination when you thrown in the fact the vehicles are some of the most technically sound vehicle found anywhere in the world. When you are behind the wheel you get the air plane like cockpit style with all buttons and knobs at your finger tips without even

moving your shoulders. Safety is at a great premium with the new Lexus as it has 10 air bags for driver and front passengers knee and side plus rear and side curtains. Lexus Enform Safety Connect automatic collision notification stolen vehicle location SOS button and enhanced road side assistance for 1-year trial available. According to the NHTSA the Lexus gets a 5-star overall ratings including 5-star for rollover.

Most vehicle in this call gets only a 4-star rating and some actually gets only a 3-star rating in rollover. The massive stance wide track vehicle is ready for whatever you dish out and then some. coach Fred (Air) McNair. “Talking with coach McNair each day has been a tremendous blessing for me because he is always talking about little things such as ball placement. That reminds me Gibbs was putting his balls right under his receivers chin snap and dead center between their numbers. “Sure he is always coaching me up to be better on each snap of the ball”. Gibbs added he cer-

tain has aspirations of playing in the NFL and coach McNair can help him get there!

We spoke with Gibbs when we could get him free from all the people getting their hugs. “I feel we played a pretty complete game coming out with 40 points in the first half and adding another 30 something in the second”. Gibbs praised head coach Jay Hopson for stressing the importance of playing a complete game. “Today we pulled it all off and how about Little Bethis (Arron Baker) a walk on a year ago and carried for 15 times gaining 149 yards and scoring three times. “We feel like we have a three headed monster of an attack but there’s always room for improvement, but I’d say with receivers who have been together for three years and gaining new backs has been a blessing for us”. When asked if there is pressure being the leader on this squad. “I’m blessed to be in the position I’m in right now with a great offensive line helping us good backs and good receivers what more could a QB want? As we continued our conversation with Gibbs we asked what is it like working under QB

In the classroom Gibbs is a Mass Communication Major with dreams of hosting his own radio/TV show. “Last spring I had a radio show and hopefully I’ll get it again this spring, but I love attending Alcorn State University and playing for the Braves of coach Jay Hopson.

Fact is the 2014 Lexus LX 570 still manages to stay around and those who have one would NOT TRADE IT FOR ANY VEHICLE. We test-

ed the LX570 with is powerful 5.7 Liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine that produces 383 horse power and 401 lbs per foot of torque. This engine is mated to a 8-speed sequential shift automatic transmission with electronic throttle with intelligence plus a torsen limited slip center differential. Let us not forget this vehicle is very capable of

many off roads maneuvers. For example the LX570 is equipped with 20 inch 5-spoke wheels with liquid graphite finish and P 285/50R 20-inch Mud and Snow tires. Handling for this vehicle is surprising good due to front independent double wishbone suspension and adaptive variable suspension and active height control and yes it has electroni-

cally controls shock absorbers and stabilizer bars front and rear. One of the most impressive things is the unit power assisted rack and pinion variable gear ratio steering. This system makes handling unheard of great. As you would expect the Luxury package comes with such features as semi-aniline leathertrimmed interior with contrast stitching. The driver and front passengers have heated/ventilated seats as well as the second row. The center console has mounted cool box and a rear center armrest greets rear seat riders. Sound come from the proven Mark Levinson system with 19speakers Reference surround sound with DVD audio and DVD video playback. Yes this

big baby also has Intuitive Park Assist with wide-view front and side monitor (camera on front grille ad passenger side outside mirrors. Many standard features on the new LX 570 such as rain-sensing wipers and Lexus Memory for front seats and easy access system for driver seat. The power sliding 2-row seats and illuminated running boards with tow hitches with ball mounted. With a price tag of over 89 Grand the new LX 570 gets 17 miles per gallon on the highway and 12 in the city for an average of 14 miles per gallon. It would be safe to say it cost a bit to drive one but it’s certainly a quality ride!

THE LEGACY, LIFE AND LOVE OF SYLVESTER (CHUG) ARMSTRONG In my wildest dreams, I would have never imagined that losing the man of my dreams would be a major transformation for me to endure. The beautiful life that Chug and I shared was one of a fairy tale that you would read about, view on television or even dream about. Chug and Traci’s love story was really a match made in heaven and a gift from God. The friendship we had together, helped us to always work through obstacles, unite us as one, and assisted us in developing a genuine love for another that no man could separate nor divide. The love we shared helped me to become the women I am today. Chug would always tell me, “Your Grandmother did a wonderful job raising you; you just needed me to come into your life and tweak you a little.” Then Chug would go on to say, “Traci you are wise far beyond your years!” Chug understood me and accepted me for who I was and I did the same for him. Yes, we both had our faults and flaws but together none of those things mattered, all that was important was making one another happy, building each other up to be better individuals and to show an admiration for one another that will last a life time. Being married to Chug (Sylvester Armstrong) was an adventure and a journey. We shared many wonderful vacations, hosted numerous yearly parties, enjoyed the company of each other on the golf course together, and developed meaningful loving friendships from people who loved and supported us and many times would comment on how they longed for the loved we showed and had for one another. Everyone including myself who encountered Chug would have to listen to his two favorite topics, Football and Golf. So whenever a crowd was around Chug took to opportunity to talk about his legendary football games, him being the best quarterback, how no player has defeated his scores, and how his teammates where down for the challenge, especially one if his favorite players and close friend Thomas Chrisman. After we listened attentively to Chug’s football stories, he would say, “Baby Girl can you play the video for our guest? So after the longwinded talk about the Jack Yates Football team, we then had to encounter the Thanksgiving Day Game Video, where Chug and the team lead Yates to an outstanding victory! We watched and watched again, but we were always supportive, elated, and honored to see the stars sparkle in Chugs eyes about the happiness and joy the game of

Football brought him. I can recall on one occasion our Pastor and close friend Dr. F.N Williams was over to the house for dinner and Chug went into his spill about his playing ability and the 1962 Turkey Day game and then of course, he wanted to pull out the video and play if for Dr. Williams and his wife, and the Pastor looked and said in a joking manner, “Chug we’ve seen it! Every time we come over you show it to us!” Following, we all had a big laugh! Chug, being his proud sarcastic self said, “One more time not going to hurt you, every time you come you gone watch it! You understand!” On a sincere note, watching Chug on that video was amazing, unbelievable for me to witness, and most of all it made me proud to learn of his major accomplishments, love for the game and it really help me understand and appreciate that being married to Chug not only was a blessing but also a honor that not only I but others held with high prestige and respect. Not for him just being the “Quarterback” but him being an extraordinary man, friend, Deacon, husband and father. Chug was a friend to everyone, he knew no strangers. Not only did I admire and praise Chug for the individual he was as a sports figure but it was also often surreal to witness how others in the public sector would meet him and say on a constant basis, Wow! Are you Sylvester Armstrong the Jack Yates Quarterback? Chug would immediately stick his chest out and extent his hand and speak in his rare distinctive tone,” Yes that would be me.” Then Chug would go on to ask them a thousand questions. He loved to talk. I would often tell him, that he was one of the noisiest persons I knew, and that it was not appealing for a man to be so nosey. Whenever I suggested that message to him, Chug would always get a big laugh out of it and say “Girl you should be ashamed of yourself. “ He loved to laugh, joke and he was always jolly and so optimistic no matter the circumstance. This was just a few of the qualities and attributes that Chug clearly was born with and followed him his entire life. Being his soul mate and life partner, I too began to benefit from those witty attributes Chug had and they soon rubbed off on me as the years grew. To those who knew him well when they ran across him from his Jack Yates error, they would quickly respond to him and say, “Chubby Checker nice to be in your presence and you were some kind of Quarterback.” Chug would smile and those big eyes would glisten and he loved

every bit of the praise and recognition. Unfortunately, when it came to Chug’s historic football legacy, I did not have to opportunity to share in that portion of his life. However, after hearing all the stories of Chug as a champion I was able to visualize the events just as I was sitting in the stands cheering him on. This is just how real the stories he told were. Anyone who really knew Chug and the person he was, understood he was straight forward, to the point, and sometimes could be boastful when it came to his life about football. Many times Chug would ask me out of the blue, “Baby girl, do you really know who you are married to?” Then Chug would go on to say, “I really wish you would have had the chance to see your husband actually play on that field, I was so good that I could call out the plays and Coach Patterson would often look to me to make the next move for the team. I would then tell him, I also wish I could have been there but I’m here now and that’s all that matters. I was and still am Chugs biggest fan and cheerleader and he was also mine. I did however have the privilege to see Chug on the golf course which was his favorite pastime during his ladder life. Chug begin to play golf as a young man and he told me, he would often work overtime to make sure he had extra money for the

golf course. As the years passed, Chug also became an effective as well as excellent player. Chug was the type of man who set standards and goals for everything he set out to do and golf was no exception. Following his retirement and our marriage, Chug went to the golf course daily without fail and was also employed and played a significant role for The First Tee of Houston for several years. Chugs game was so good, even some of the best players couldn’t compete with him. When others saw him play, they begin to go to him for pointers and advice and from that point he began to tutor and mentor others the game. Chug and several of his close golf friends would travel within the city and state as well as other states playing in tournaments with a competitive spirit to always be winners. I love to see Chug play golf; I would often tag a long and ride on the cart just to see how far he could hit the ball. Soon after, Chug bought me my first set of clubs and we would go together on many occasions to hit some balls and share each other’s company with conversation, laughter, and most of all love. Chug was indeed a loveable, talented, hardworking, intelligent, educated, straight forward and God fearing man. Chug was a man that I was so proud to have as my husband. Chug was a God scent to me and we encountered so many fulfilling memorable life events that I will cherish a life time. Out of all of the things we had in common, there was one that we that no one could take from us and that was our divine relationship with The Lord. As believers, we prayed together every morning and worshiped together at church. Chug was an active leader and deacon at his church home Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. F.N.Williams. Chug always had a positive word for anyone who had a listening ear. When Chug bowed to pray, his distinctive voice would tremble with conviction that he was a witness, he

EdwardRoby and SylvesterArmstrong at PVILCA Bamquet

had a testimony and most of all he was truly thankful for everything The Lord had done for him as well as his family and friends. I love to hear him pray as well as others because it was just like he was holding a conversation with God. Chugs wisdom, knowledge and love for God assisted him in helping so many when it came to winning souls to Christ. Chug would always tell me even when his health begun to fail, “Traci, I know you are not giving up on The Lord because he’s been good to us.” Today, I can still him saying those words to me and that’s what keeping me this very moment. I am trying my best lean and depend on God to lift me up, erase my tears of sadness with joy, happiness, laughter and peace again. As Chug would say best, “Trust in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” So I am not giving up on The Lord. I am going to trust God for his will and believe that Chugs legacy, life and love with help me to withstand and begin to live again. I know within my heart this is what Chug would want me to do. I will forever remember and treasure the great times we shared and the love we had for one another. These memories shall last a lifetime and I will hold them in my heart and look to the future for Gods guidance and strength to make it though.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK JOHNNY ROBINSON: DOGAN Southeast-Houston-While covering the Studewood Cobras showdown with the Southeast Lions we ran into an interesting 4th grader from Dogan Elementary school. He’s Johnny Robinson a hard working multitalented football player for the Cobras JV squad. Johnny is the adopted son of Sharon and Percy Boatner and loves reading best in his classes. He mixes sports news along with newspaper and books as well to keep his mind working. Clearly crediting his moth-

er with being his most driving force in life Johnny says she simply grounds me when things don’t go well in the class room. We agreed with him that getting grounded is certainly not any fun. “She just say you grounded and that’s it so I work hard to make sure I keep getting those good grades each time my card comes out”. Certainly one of his goals is to play pro football someday and he certainly plays three or four position on offense as well as

three or four position on defense. But we asked for a more realistic goal and he said wants to become a professional fire fighter. “I love the way they spray the water on a fire and that in turn safes lives and rescuing people from burning buildings has to be rewarding for a person like me who has a safety based philosophy”. We added the question of domestic violence and the way the pro athletes have been messing up lately. “No sir I don’t think I want to do what Ray Rice did, because you could windup in jail after that kind of thing”. When asked what about President Obama becoming the first African American President of the United States. “I think it’s good and he should stay as

long as he can because things are going pretty good right now”.

watches a lot of college football on TV and is learning all he can to make himself a better player.

On the subject of doing anything over in life Johnny said he would love to have been able to grow up and get a great job and build a new house for all his family members. Describing himself as a hard working guy who still has jokes and gets along well with is teammates. Last year the JV team went to the Super Bowl and lost to the Southeast Lions but Robinson says they plan to get back there again and win it all this time around. He added he would like very much to see the student body at Dogan follow the teachers instructions a lot better. In closing Johnny says he

ALCORN RUN PAST PV 77-48 IN A THRILL UPON THE HILL By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Prairie View, Texas-The Alcorn State University Braves went up and down the field on the Panthers of Prairie View A & M University all game long. But for a while the Panthers hung in there with the SWAC’s number one offense. Billie Shed grabbed a routine swing pass from John Gibbs Jr. and raced all the way inside the five on the first place of the game. A couple of plays later Aaron Baker a 5 foot 11 inch 235 pound bruiser who actually is a Walk-on all the way from Florida took it 3 yards for the game first score. Using their bruising defense the Braves got the ball back and Lenoris Footman ran 4 yards for a 14-0 lead. Oh but the Panthers wanted to have something good happen in the last game played at the 66 year old Blackshear field. So they scored on a 33 yard Johnta Hebert run and later Nick Pitre hauled in a 20 yard scoring pass from Jerry Lovelocke to tie the score at 14 all. Then the team of Anthony Williams III and John Gibbs Jr. went to work. Williams scored

on a 20 yard pass from Gibbs and followed that with a 4 yard run and just like that it was 2814. Arron Baker then ran in from 3 yards about followed putting the Braves up 35-14. Oh but the Panthers would come back again when Johnta Hebert got behind the Braves defenders and hauled in a 60 yard scoring pass from Lovelocke closing the gap to 35-21. However the Braves answered again as Gibbs found Brandon Vessell from49 yards out and a 42-21 lead. Joshua Holley returned a block field goal attempt 63 yards for a

score. Gibbs would throw his third Touchdowns pass of the day when he found Jaborian McKenzie from 3 yards out and big 49-28 half time lead. The second half stared out as Keith Hartaway pulled in a 20 yard scoring pass from Lovelocke closing to 49-35. But bruiser Arron Baker ran 16 yards for another score and Jaborian McKenzie hauled in another 35 yard scoring pass from John Gibbs and Alcorn was up by 63-

35 near of the third period. The Panther scored on Jerry Lovelocke 5 yard run and the period ended 63-41. Jaborian McKenzie bolted 31 yards with Panthers defenders on his back for another score. Once again Lovelocke answered with a 5 yard run breaking a few tackles himself. Robert Clay ended the scoring when he ran 19 yard for the Braves with 4.30 left in this hotly contested showdown. The final count turned out to be 77-

48 in a game that lasted 3 hours and 43 minutes. The win is the Braves 7th against two defeats and they moved them to 5-1 in SWAC play with Alabama A & M next on tap for the Braves.

JAY HOPSON KAMERON WALLER-COBRAS ALCORN STATE ARRON BAKER-ALCORN By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Prairie View, Texas-In his third year coach Jay Hopson has the Braves on a path that could lead to historic proportions before he’s done. With a quality group of assistants working with him Hopson is making it work. Fred (Air) McNair is assistant head coach/QB while Willie Simmons is offensive coordinator with Tony Pecoraro serving as the defensive coordinator. Ralph Street works with the defensive line and Cedric Thomas handles the defensive backs with West Turner coaching the linebackers. Leroy Fredericks works with the wide receivers and Ryan Stanchek handles the offensive line. “I’m really proud of John today and our offense played a great game here today”. Gibbs played well as a true freshman two years up on the hill against P V. “I think it likes it playing here because it’s home for him and we are pleased with is efforts today”. When Hopson took over the job as the first Caucasian to coach

in the SWAC, some folks didn’t like the idea. But Hopson who grew up around Alcorn and has many friends who are Alcornites so he said he considered it an honor to coach the team. “This has been a big blessing in my life being from Vicksburg it like home to me anyway”. Hopson added working with Gibbs has been the highlight of his tenure with the Braves. “He’s certainly a wonderful kid and a very hard working kid plus having a great person like Fred McNair to help us with John, I can’t say enough good things about these two people”. In closing Hopson didn’t want to look no further than their match up with Alabama State. But clearly at 5-1 in the Conference they certainly have the leg up on winning the East division and playing in the SWAC Championship game in NRG Stadium in December. “We as coaching have to keep our team focused on the very next task at hand and that Alabama State and we have to work hard and take care of business!

to Kameron Waller one of their top players who for sometime now has made a name for himself. The 4th grader at Conley Elementary school likes Math best in class and plays corner and running back for the Cobras this season. When asked if he was made Principal at Conley he would certainly increase the recess time. Fact is the school only has one recess period and he feels it’s simply not enough time for students prepare themselves for the long day at school.

QB John Gibbs said he can’t describe the guy and the way he runs but it certainly makes his job so much easier. “Man with Arron, we just give it to him and he runs so hard and so does Anthony Williams III and all our backs do, I’m so blessed to have them on my side”.

WHAT IS TRUTH? FOR THAT IS DELIVERED UNTO ME Dear reader again, there are so many warnings and so many examples from GOD through CHRIST and his apostles, against CARNAL Prosperity in this World. They teach against; being conformed to this WORLD (Rom.12:1-2), loving this world and the things that are in it (1John2:15-17), loving our lives here (John12:25-26), minding HIGH things (Rom.12:16; James2:1-7), or EARTHLY, SECULAR, TEMPORAL things (Phil.3:16-20; Col.3:1-4; 2Cor.4:18; 5:16). We will again ask this question, why then are there so many religious leaders teaching such? They are teaching that GOD has chosen these things and that God blesses one with CARNAL PROSPERITY, and through these things He is glorified. Why would he, when he did not choose these things for his Son Christ Jesus to have, and to glorify Him with. According to scripture, it is simply because HE HAS NOT CHOSEN these things. We chose to believe the Lord for we know His intents, how about you? “2 Pet 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” If we profess to be Christians, thereby saying we believe on Christ Jesus, then we MUST follow Christ through his apostle’s word, to be right (righteous) with GOD; “John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that

they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

In the past two months we have attempted to study in depth, the things GOD HATH CHOSEN, thereby understanding the things He hath not chosen. With CARNAL Prosperity in this World being one, and Worldly Wisdom, which is prudence, intelligence being another, that He has not chosen (Matt.11:25-26; 1Cor.1:18-31; 1Cor.3:16-23); let us now study, according to scripture WHY? The answer is simple; GOD has delivered these carnal, worldly things and their advantages to someone else. God the Father has delivered them to the god of this WORLD, the Devil (Luke 4:6-7; 2Cor.4:16). Again, we believe this is why the Lord warns us AGAINST, loving this world and the things that are in it (1John2:15-17). Dear reader, if we honestly think about it, if something has been given over to someone and it has become theirs to do with as they please, then we, under their conditions, are blessed by the one that HAS it; “Luke 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, ALL shall be thine.” As pertaining to verses 6 and 7, someone once said, “The Devil was really fooled”. We MUST be careful of that train of thought; so that we will not be fooled, for it is certain the Devil was not and is not fooled. This can be scripturally proven by Jesus’ reply in verse 8. Note, he never denied anything that the Devil said in verses 6and 7, but he refused the things offered because he knew to accept them, would be to Worship and to Serve him. “Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” THE LESSON: FOR THAT IS DELIVERED UNTO ME (Luke 4:6) Luke 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a

moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Dear reader, Christians MUST follow the example of the apostles; and be NOT ignorant of Satan’s devices, nor of his power, so that he will not take advantage of us; thereby making us his children 2 Cor 2:11 (1)Lest Satan (2)should get an advantage of us: for we are not (3)ignorant of his (4)devices.

He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” Satan intends that ALL should PERISH along with him, and his devices are the Carnal, Fleshly, Earthly, Secular, Worldy things that he has put place for this to occur. His power is enormous, though no match for the GOD HEAD, but much, much more than ANY man’s. We believe according to scripture this power MUST be RESPECTED; Michael the ARCHANGEL did why shouldn’t we, are we stronger than Michael the archangel? (Please read; 2 Cor

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them.

How then do we not WORSHIP the DEVIL? Again this is done simply by taking up our cross daily and following Christ (Luke9:22-26). According to scripture, this is done not by doing what JESUS would do, but by doing what JESUS and his apostles SAY DO, in his written Word. If we want to be worshipers of GOD rather than worshipers of the Devil, then we must suffer, just as Christ DID and do not accept these worldly carnal things, which is Temporal Prosperity and the glory of them. This would be a good start to getting our names written in the book of LIFE. Please read again Luke 4: 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. Note again the admonishment of the apostle Paul; Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.(KJV) Luke 4:6 ... and the glory of them: (KJV) Isa 5:13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and (1)their multitude dried up with thirst. 14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and (2)their glory, and (3)their multitude, and

According to the above scripture (Rom.12:16) Christians are NOT to mind high things, NEITHER be aspiring in this world, toward worldly, carnal, earthly things, including Prosperity. Why, because these things have been Delivered unto the DEVIL, by GOD. The Church MUST be indifferent and lazy toward these CARNAL things, and a ZELOT in SPIRITUAL things. TRUTH CONTINUED II Th 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but (1)had pleasure in unrighteousness. (Please read also; John3:17-22; Rom.1:16-32; Rom.2:1-11; Rom.12:9; 2Pet.2:9-22; 3John1:11.) Definition:(1)had pleasure in unrighteousness-2106 eudokeo (yoo-dok-eh'-o);from 2095 and 1380; to think well of, i.e. approve (an act); specially, to approbate (a person or thing), 1) it seems good to one, is one's good pleasure a) to think it good, to choose, to determine, to decide b) to do willingly c) to be ready to, to prefer, to choose rather 2) to be well pleased with, to take pleasure in, to be favorably inclined toward one: KJV-- think good, (be well) please (-d), be the good (have, take) pleasure, be willing. Again according to scripture, if we proclaim to be Christians then we MUST deny ourselves, take up our cross DAILY, thereby hating our lives in this world, making our bodies a living sacrifice; this then would make us followers of Christ and his apostles (Luke 9:22-26: John12:2526; Rom. 12:1-2; Phil.3:17-20). Why, because according to scripture, the kingdoms of the world and the glories of them have been delivered by God the father, unto the god of this WORLD, which is the Devil (2 Cor 4:1-6). Dear readers remember as always, the purpose of these articles is to seek the TRUTH according to THE WORD, thereby exposing ERROR, for the purpose of saving our souls. We believe this is best done by definitions and the PREPONDERANCE OF SCRIPTURES; which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence of SCRIPTURE. Again we believe this allows SCRIPTURE to INTERPRET SCRIPTURE, thereby allowing a better understanding on that topic. Again, thank you so much for your interest in the WORD of TRUTH; GRACE and SALVATION; John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32; James1:21-25. After all it is our MAP to HEAVEN and away from HELL, and the continuance in it, is the ONLY thing that allows the man of God to be perfect, 2Tim.3:12-17! ELLA MAE JOHNSON-SHAW LAID TO REST By King Arthur Prayther A King-Size View Dallas, Texas-For the short while we had knowing Ella Mae Johnson we found her to be a wonderful person. After meeting her brother Ernie Johnson the Soul and Blues Legend we ran into his sister on several occasions. Each time she was always pleasant and friendly much like her World famous brother. As Ernie and I worked together in the Fiesta Black History Celebrations and Music Festivals we would see Ella Mae coming to the events and dressed up and showing a lot of love for her brother. Time and time again we were going to Dallas to take A King-Size View Newspaper and we would check in with Ernie and Ella was always around offering to help any way she could. Going to Dallas to share in Ernie’s Birthday Parties again there was Ella right on the door and covering her brother’s back. That’s basically why it is so hard to accept the fact she is now

gone home and it all seem so sudden.

Born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on August 4th 1943 Ella Mae Johnson was the 8th of 9 children to the late Jim and Ella Johnson. Having several big brother to watch out for her and keep the fellows away from their lovely and talented sister. Ella Mae went on to graduate from Franklin Parish high school and moved to Dallas where Ernie had already started his singing career. The charming Ella Mae went on to become a L.V.N. and became of one of the Dallas area’s top nurses. She worked for Baylor Hospital and retired after 27 years, but continued to work part time until her health begin to fail her.

Shortly after that we spoke with Ernie who to this very day is still having a hard time understanding and believing she is gone.

sharing in the services. Ernie fought back tears and sang Change Gonna Come much to the delight of the people gathered.

On Saturday September 27, 2014 her Homegoing services were held at the New Unity Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Shank Robinson is the pastor. After the awarding winning entrance by Golden Gate Directors the service got underway with people from all over the Metro-Plex coming and

Rev. Robinson made is words of comfort short and sweet by telling the group of people he saw a smile on Ella Mae’s face like he had never seen and that’s when he knew she was gone home to be with God.

Ella Mae caught the eye of a fellow Ivery Lee Shaw and the couple wedded in 1964 and to this union one child was born (LaTricer). On Saturday September 20th mid after noon we received a text telling us Ella Mae had gone home to be with the Lord.

A host of photos tell the story of a wonderful woman who was very caring and was loved by many!

Golden Gate Funeral Directors then closed the service with a

Final Glimpse “Till Glory and the recessional event took place after all persons viewed the remains for one last time. Ella Mae leaves to mourn her caring and loving daughter La Tricer, one sister Iola, three brothers James (Ollie), Ernest and Joseph (Bonnie), one adopted brother Joseph L.
