here’s no denying that Danville offers some of the best summer camps in California. The Danville Recreations Expose is celebrating its 10th year and will be showcasing some of the best summer camps you’ll find in the Bay Area. On February 9th and 10th, the Rec. Expo will be offering a variety of diverse choices ranging from sports to science to drama camp all under one roof. Geared toward children as young as 3 and all the way to high school seniors, the Rec Expo is a face-to-face meet and greet for anyone looking for a fun way to spend their summer. Locals see it as their “one stop shop” of summer enrichment. Parents and children alike lineup outside the doors of the Community Center adjacent to the Danville Library as early as 9 a.m. eagerly hoping to be the first in the door to grab a complementary tote bag and sign up for their favorite summer camps. This gives parents and children a chance to meet the class instructors, ask questions, and see demos of the classes. Each year brings new surprises, and you never know what you’re going to find. There is often a science experiment provided by Mad Science, musical instruments just begging to be played, Lego demonstrations and scripts from KAOS Camp to peruse. Anyone who signs up for the raffle also has a chance to win a fabulous prize. That’s just some of the many benefits of attending the Expo. However, the biggest attraction at the Expo is the 10% discount parents receive if they sign their child up for a camp that weekend. This may sound like a small chunk of change to some, but it really does add up if you have multiple children or require several camps to fill your summer. Many of these camps fill the majority of their summer roster just from one weekend at

the Expo. Georgia Buxton, who is a regular visitor says, “The Expo definitely gets bigger and bigger every year. You take away so much more when you have the opportunity to walk up to someone’s booth and ask questions about their program. You can’t get that from reading about it in the activity guide.” Buxton has not only been a spectator, but has worked some of the camp booths. Didn’t find what you were looking for? That’s no problem. Danville’s extensive activity guide is available at the Expo and online with an even bigger variety of choices to suit your needs. For more information on the Danville Rec.
