years and still playing We are both delighted and proud to announce that dantoy will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024. One of our first and longest selling products is our dantoy motorcycle. It has been a must-have toy both in children’s nurseries and private homes all over Denmark for many generations. The motorcycle is still actively being used, even in races for the youngest “racers” in the country. To mark our anniversary, we are launching a special, limited-edition dantoy motorcycle in this year’s product assortment. Thank you to all those of you, who have been part of the ride. We’re looking forward to the onward journey with you, and would like to wish all our newcomers a warm welcome. We’re still going strong and enjoying the ride.

1964-2024

We are celebrating 60 years of toy making We experience a high level of reciprocal job satisfaction through these diverse partnerships.

In 1964, manufacturing company HP Plast A/S was established in Skanderborg, Denmark. At the time, HP Plast supplied toys to Scandinavia and Europe.

dantoy is still located in Hobro, close to Aarhus, the second largest city of Denmark and an important traffic hub and shipping port.

In 1976, production moved a little further north to Hobro, where a new and larger factory was built to an initial size of 2,500 m2. In 1999, the company changed its name to dantoy a/s.

For dantoy, sustainability is not a trend or a new phenomenon. On the contrary, it has always been part of our DNA, which means that our journey towards less environmentally damaging production methods is part of our history and evolution.

dantoy is a private, family-owned business. We design and make quality plastic toys using the latest technology and materials. Today dantoy is one of the largest toy manufacturers in Scandinavia and the factory site covers 16,000 m2 (172,000 square feet) with a 24-hour production process. dantoy exports 75 % of its total turnover to 50 countries around the world and employs 50 employees and we also have affiliated colleagues who assemble our products at home or in various sheltered workshops.

We were one of the first toy companies to be globally certified with the ISO 14001 and 9001 standards. In 2010, we were the first toy manufacturer in the world to receive the Nordic Swan Ecolabel because we wanted to focus on providing chemical-free play for children.

Old toys become new toys

We have started collecting our old toys from Danish recycling sites and we're working together with various childcare institutions in Denmark. We have called this recycling project Take Back and we aim to expand it to the rest of Scandinavia.

The environment and responsibility are a core part of who we are and that's why we also want to take responsibility for our products when they are no longer usable. That's why we're now collecting used dantoy toys, ensuring they become part of the process of turning old toys into new ones.

Our vision of establishing partnerships with recycling sites and childcare institutions is to collect and recycle our plastic material in most of the world. The concept also helps us turn our attention to the environment in childcare institutions which gets educational and fun learning material as inspiration to teach children about the importance of recycling.

Important symbols of quality Blue Marine Toys are made from maritime gear e.g. nets, trawls and ropes from the fishing industry. Made from 100% recycled, Nordic Swan Ecolabelled materials collected from in-house production. Bioplastic toy, made of at least 90% sugarcane, a sustainable raw material. Our bioplastic is 100% recyclable. dantoy BIO products are of the same high quality as our conventional plastic toys. The Braskem “I’m Green” symbol may only be used if the amount of sustainable raw materials contained in the product has been verified. “I’m Green” PE (bioplastic) is made of at least 90% sugarcane (ethanol). Ethanol, a form of alcohol, is extracted from sugarcane, after which it is used to make bioplastic. Plastic toys that carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel comply with one of the world’s most stringent environmental certifications. Ecolabelled products may not contain phthalates, synthetic fragrances or endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). To qualify for eco-labelling, the entire life cycle of the product, from raw material to production, use, disposal and recycling, is assessed. 99% of dantoy’s plastic toys are manufactured in-house at our factory in Hobro, Denmark. All dantoy toy products comply with the European EN71 standard, and our products therefore meet the safety requirements for toys sold in the EU. Our child use and care articles, cutlery, drinking and feeding utensils are certified in accordance with EN14372 and EN14350. dantoy is certified to environmental standard ISO 14001, which means that via environmental focus, the company aims to minimise harmful environmental impacts by using sustainable processes, minimising consumption of energy, water and raw materials, recycling spillage and waste, and maintaining a healthy working environment. dantoy is certified to quality standard ISO 9001, which obliges us to observe high standards, including uniform quality, product safety, quality control and assurance (taking random samples and testing), as well as written procedures that ensure that our production processes are standardised. All dantoy toy products carry the CE mark, a key indicator of product compliance with the EU legislation that enables the free movement of products within the European market. dantoy is “Der Grüne Punkt”-accredited. This is a German eco-label implemented by Duales Systems Deutschland GmbH that verifies that dantoy collects and recycles used packaging. dantoy is a partner in Operation Clean Sweep, an organisation working towards a cleaner environment whose aims include reducing the discharge of plastic granules from manufacturing companies into the sea. All dantoy Dinnertime eating, drinking and cutlery sets are approved for food contact. However, other toys (role play-items) may only be used for brief periods of contact, with all kinds of food. All dantoy products are dishwasher safe. However, we advise you not to wash products with labels in the dishwasher. All dantoy role-play toys (cups, plates, bowls, etc.) are microwave safe.

Our products are generally labelled with EAN codes. NB: Individual items in our large pre-school sets are not individually marked with EAN codes. The sets are marked with EAN codes on the outside of the packaging.
