A SELECTION OF OUR MARKETS
WITH CARE FOR PEOPLE, CHICKENS AND THE PLANET
Every day we act responsibly to create value and profitability through our products and through promoting health and wellbeing for people, our chickens and the planet.
PEOPLE
Food is deeply rooted in local traditions, cultures and tastes Our overall strategy combines the strength of being a global group with the local context required to create strong brands that consumers appreciate Our most important undertaking to consumers is that our products are safe and healthy to eat, and that they are produced locally from chickens that are thriving and treated well .
CHICKENS
Our premise is that all of our chickens must thrive, from hatching to slaughter . Good animal welfare is an intrinsic part of our operations for ethical reasons, and because this has a direct impact on product quality, resource efficiency and profitability . Only healthy chickens can grow in a sustainable way .
PLANET
Ensuring that every single chicken thrives and is reared in a resource-efficient manner, and that as much of the chicken as possible is turned into good food on plates, is the most important thing we can do to reduce our environmental and climate impact We work continuously to improve and strengthen our sustainability efforts throughout the entire value chain .
THE SCANDI WAY
Our mission is also our commitment to sustainability . The Scandi Way means working every day to create attractive, innovative and profitable products that promote health and wellbeing for people, our chickens and our planet both in the short and in the long term .

OUR CLIMATE TARGETS
Scandi Standard have set short-term industrial and energy targets together with FLAG emission reduction targets for the entire Group as well as for the individual companies within the Group . These targets encompass all emissions, including those linked to land management and land use change . The targets are aligned with the Paris Agreement’s goal to limit global warming to 1 .5°C .
The Science Based Targets initiative validated our short-term targets for the entire Group in November 2024 and approved our long-term targets Alongside the overall emissions targets, we have set additional targets that focus on different parts of our value chain . These include packaging, water, food waste and biodiversity, among others
1) Forest, Land and Agriculture

SUSTAINABILITY OUR FOCUS FOR 2030
Scandi Standard’s business concept is to contribute to the joy of food, and to health and wellbeing We work with sustainable food production, where we assume the responsibility from farm to fork, for people, chickens and the planet
Providing local, healthy, safe and cost-efficient protein
Our products form the basis of our sustainability strategy and business strategy . We strive to offer high quality products, with the best food-safety standard, and at the same time healthy, locally produced and cost-efficient compared to other animal protein . Safe and healthy workplaces and committed employees
Our employees are the foundation of our operations . Ensuring that they have a safe and healthy work environment is our highest priority .
Safeguarding and developing our animal welfare work
Scandi Standard’s veterinarians and other chicken experts work together with all of our growers on a daily basis to ensure that our chickens thrive . Reduced climate impact from chickens – from farm to fork
Although chickens are the animal protein with the lowest climate impact, we still have room for improvement . We have taken it upon ourselves to set sciencebased climate targets throughout the value chain .
Reduced and improved use of plastics when developing our packaging
Packaging is the key to food safety and product sustainability . Good packaging also reduces food waste The key issue is for packaging to be recyclable and not to contain any more plastic than is necessary and, where possible, to be made from recycled or bio-based materials . Maximised resource usage and minimised waste
Every chicken and the whole bird matters . Being able to use as much as possible of every chicken is the key to sustainability and profitability . New innovations, improved processes and product development are all important factors for attaining our goals . At the same time, it is crucial to minimise waste – not only food waste but also other types of waste arising in our value chain .

CHICKEN IS A CLIMATE-FRIENDLY CHOICE
The consumption of chicken is expected to continue rising in the next ten years One reason is that the climate impact from chickens is significantly lower, compared with other animal protein .

CHICKEN: AN INCREASINGLY ATTRACTIVE PROTEIN

There are many reasons why the demand for chicken as a protein is expected to grow . Chicken is a valued source of protein in most cultures and is appreciated for both its flavour and versatility in cooking . As such, an increasing number of people are choosing chicken instead of beef and pork for health and sustainability reasons, which is a trend that continues to grow .
Chicken is also a cost-effective and affordable protein source, which further supports its use in times of economic hardship . As a result, it is particularly beneficial to have shorter production cycles and less resource-intensive production .
BEST-IN-CLASS CHICKEN PRODUCTION
Danpo was established in 1972 from the merger of five small cooperative slaughterhouses and became a part of Scandi Standard in 2013 . Each day 938 employees work to deliver healthy and tasty chicken products in Denmark and for our export markets
At our slaughterhouses in Aars, we annually slaughter around 45 million chickens . We have employees with strong skills in slaughtering and use modern equipment .

Our factory in Farre is Scandi Standard largest plant and produces frozen chicken products, primarily burgers and coated products such as nuggets The capacity is 45,000 tons p .a .

In addition to these two locations, Danpo recently established a new third office location in Skanderborg
HIGHEST FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS
Danpo conducts extensive internal work on food safety standards with the aim of delivering the best possible products that contribute to the health and well-being of consumers every day .
ADVANCED EQUIPMENT
At Danpo we have installed the most modern and sophisticated equipment for producing and packing all kinds of chicken products To this you can add the best know-how in every stage of our value chain Furthermore we benefit from the synergies from our sister companies in the Scandi Standard group of chicken companies
INCREASED PRODUCTION CAPACITY
The convenience food trend is growing stronger with consumers in all our domestic markets – it is a trend we are noting throughout the world . To meet the increasing demand for Ready-To-Eat products, we recently expanded capacity in Farre by upgrading one of the production lines . The expansion will contribute to increased production capacity .
HALAL CERTIFIED
At our slaughterhouse i Aars all chickens are slaughtered according to halal principles . The slaughter is done according to traditions and monitored by Danish veterinary authorities . In order to ensure that animal welfare is a firstrate, the process is acknowledged by Danish Veterinary and Food Administration

DANISH QUALITY CHICKEN

Danpo offers some of the best quality chicken available. Our ambition is to be industry-leading in terms of animal welfare and provide healthy chicken products with as low impact on the climate as possible.
ANIMAL WELFARE
Our focus on continuous improvement provides the basis of our efforts with good animal welfare . Together with our contracted growers, our ambition is to be a driving force for good animal welfare throughout the industry . Animal welfare legislation in the Nordic region is among the strictest in the world, and the Nordic approach is our starting point We give chickens every chance to stay healthy and absorb nutrients by applying a holistic approach, knowledge and high standards of handling, housing and feeding .
COLLABORATION WITH GROWERS
We have long-term partnerships with selected growers . The growers’ knowledge and understanding of and respect for the chickens is crucial for good animal welfare . Regardless of modern technology and well-developed processes, their day-to-day handling and know-how are by far the most important factor in allowing their chickens to thrive and grow . The growers are well aware that thriving chickens make the best economic sense
FREE OF SALMONELLA
In Denmark and the Sandi Standard Nordic countries, our chickens must be completely salmonella-free, and campylobacter must be at the absolute minimum level possible Regular inspection of both these bacteria is conducted in the breeding house or upon the arrival of chickens at lairage . Salmonella is very rare in the Nordic countries but common in other parts of the world .
EXTREMELY LOW USE OF ANTIBIOTICS
We have a very strict policy on the use of antibiotics and other types of medication . In accordance with current Nordic legislation, antibiotics must not be used as a preventive measure in the rearing process, unlike in many other countries . Only sick animals may be treated, following a decision by a veterinarian . The use of antibiotics in Danpo is extremely low (0 .4% in 2024) – which is a sign of good animal husbandry .

Danpo’s highest priority is to secure food safety as well as a very high and consistent product quality. We meet the highest internationally renowned standards of product and process certification.
IFS
Our slaughterhouse in Aars is certified according to the international IFS-standard (International Featured Standards) which guarantees food safety The standard is related to Danpo’s quality control and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system and also includes GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) . The certification is internationally recognized and widely used on the retail market .
BRCGS
Our factory in Farre and our slaughterhouse in Aars is certified in accordance with the British Retail Consortium Global Standard (BRCGS) . A BRCGS certification reflects food safety efforts throughout the supply chain and reviews all areas that may impact food safety . BRCGS is in turn recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), a global system of food safety standards .
SQMS
Danpos factory in Farre is certified according to the SQMS-standard (Supplier Quality Management System), with requirements for both food safety, GMP and HACCP This is an internationally recognized standard used by McDonald’s . As we supply chicken to McDonald’s, it is a requirement for our products to be certified with this standard
ACQP
ACQP (Assured Chicken Quality Programme) is an integrated program for quality control and documentation for all links in the process of slaughtering chickens . ACQP makes it possible to trace your chicken all the way back to where it was raised . The program documents full traceability from farmer to customer and is subject to an impartial control . This programme is used for our slaugtherhouse in Aars .

RTC PRODUCTS
Ready-To-Cook (RTC) are products for selfpreparation by the customer or consumer . They may consist of whole birds, cuts of meat, deboned, seasoned or marinated products . These products are used in the production of, for example, animal feed and biofuel, in line with Scandi Standard’s ambition to utilize and increase the value of the whole animal, because this minimises food waste, lowers the carbon footprint and increases profitability . A considerable portion of the by-products we produce are further processed in our jointly owned company, Farmfood .
