ABOUT ME
I AM AN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT ENTERING MY FINAL SEMESTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT SAN ANTONIO. I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR AN INTERNSHIP IN THE FIELD AS WELL AS HOPING TO PURSURE MY MASTERS DEGREE THIS FALL 2024. I LIKE TO PLAY SPORTS IN MY FREE TIME SUCH AS GOLF, BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, AND PICKLEBALL. CHAOS AT THE RIVER

THIS PROJECT, WHICH IS SITUATED ALONG THE RIVERWALK IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN SAN ANTONIO, AIMS TO HOUSE MORE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND GIVE THEM A MORE CONVENIENT COMMUTE TO SCHOOL AS WELL AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN A DENSELY POPULATED URBAN ENVIRONMENT. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO USE THE BUILDING TO BRING THE ABSTRACT ART CONCEPT TO LIFE. FROM THE FRONT, WE WANTED THE BUILDING TO APPEAR TO BE A TYPICAL HIGH-RISE STRUCTURE, BUT WHEN VIEWED FROM THE SIDES, ALL OF THESE VOIDS WOULD BE VISIBLE, GIVING THE IMPRESSION THAT THE STRUCTURE WAS ABSTRACT. THE LOWER FOUR FLOORS OF THIS 20-STORY BUILDING WERE SET APART FOR AMENTITES AND AN OPEN PUBLIC RESTAURANT BY THE RIVER, WHILE THE UPPER 16 FLOORS WERE DESIGNATED FOR STUDENT HOUSING. THE BUILDING’S INTENDED SPLIT-LEVEL ON THE BOTTOM FLOORS WAS MADE TO KEEP THE BUILDING PRIVATE TO THE TENANTS WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY OPENING IT TO THE PUBLIC AND PROVIDING 24/7 ACCESS TO THE STREET AND RIVERWALK.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS NEW REDESIGN OF THE UTSA ARCHITECTURE BUILDING, WHICH IS SITUATED IN DOWNTOWN SAN ANTONIO, WAS TO ENHANCE AND SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATE THE CURRICULUM OF THE SCHOOL WHILE FOSTERING AN ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS HOLISTIC EDUCATION. THIS SEMESTER, OUR TASK WAS TO DESIGN A BUILDING OF ANY TYPOLOGY—AS LONG AS IT HAD AN ATRIUM. THIS PURPOSE-DRIVEN BUILDING IS SEEN AS MORE THAN JUST A PHYSICAL LOCATION; RATHER, IT IS ENVISIONED AS A DYNAMIC, ADAPTABLE LEARNING ECOSYSTEM THAT CORRESPONDS WITH THE CHANGING DEMANDS OF MODERN EDUCATION. MY OVERALL DESIGN IDEA WAS INSPIRED BY THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM, WHICH I DISCOVERED TO BE BRAIDED AND USED IT TO SHAPE THE ATRIUM. THE OVERALL DESIGN OF THE BUILDING EMBRACES THE CONCEPTS OF FLEXIBILITY AND ADAPTABILITY BY IMAGINING A FLUID, INTERCONNECTED SPACE THAT DISSOLVES BOUNDARIES BETWEEN TRADITIONAL CLASSROOMS, COLLABORATIVE ZONES, AND OUTDOOR AREAS.

DURING THIS SEMESTER WE WERE TASKED WITH THE QUESTION, HOW CAN WE COMBINE UNSTRUCTURED/NATURAL MATERIALS WITH DIGITAL GENERATED CONNECTORS? WE THAN BEGAN TO RESEARCH IRREGULAR MATERIALS SUCH AS UNPROCESSED ROCKS AND HOW THEY ARE USED IN CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTION DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF SKILLED LABOUR REQUIRED FOR PREPEARION. THIS PROJECT INVESTAGES METHODS OF GRAPHIC STATICS IN COMBINATION WITH TECHNOLOGIES SUCH AS 3D SCANNING, 3D PRINGING, AND AUGMENTED REALITY TO ASSEMBLE THE NATURAL AND REUSABLE MATERIALS BY RELYING ON DRY FITTED CONNECTIONS THAT WE WOULD DESIGN.
3 d scanning process
we had to input the rock as digtal mesh into the computer before we could create the connector itself we accomplished this by digitally creating the mesh by taking hundreds of images of each rock from various angles we employed a program known as agisoft metashaped i photographed every rock over hundreds of times before gathering all the images to feed into the program , which produced a realistic 3 d mesh i will never forget this entire process since it was like seeing magic happen in front of my eyes when i was able to insert a rock into my computer following all of this , i opened rhino and loaded the mesh it provided , enabling me to begin constructing my connector we were able to employ “ algorithmic arrangement ,” which determined the best orientation of scanned stones along the thrust - line , with my professor ’ s assistance the ideal rock arrangement for supporting the tower was determined by testing various configurations with 3 d manufactured connectors the printing time , material quantity , assembly , and general stability were all possible with algorithmic arrangement

THIS STUDENT HOUSING PROJECT LOCATED IN URBINO, ITALY WAS A GROUP EFFORT TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF DORMS WHILE ALSO TRYING TO TIE OUR DESIGN TO THE CITY AND CULTURE THAT IT IS URBINO. OUR DESIGN CONCEPT IS BASED ON GEARS THAT TURN ON A CLOCK, “ACTIVATING” THE WHOLE BUILDING TO FUNCTION. THE LOCATION OF COMMUNAL SPACES, AS WELL AS THE ADJACENT HOUSE UNITS AND GREEN SPACES, ARE DETERMINED BY THE DEEP VERTICAL CHANGES IN THE TOPOGRAPHY. THE BUILDING’S CONSTANT DIGGING INTO THE SLOPE TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT IT FOLLOWS THE TOPOGRAPHY AND OFFERS STUNNING VIEWS OF THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS LED TO THE NAMING OF THE STRUCTURE “BURROW.”

RESILIENCE CENTER

LOCATED IN FRANK TEJEDA PARK, IN AN ATTEMPT TO INCREASE NEIGHBORHOOD RESILIENCE BY PROPOSING A CENTER THAT HELPS BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER. THIS BUILDING IS MADE UP OF THREE INDEPENDENT STRUCTURES THAT HOUSE THE DISTRIBUTION CENTER, EVENT SPACE, CLASSROOMS, AND AQUATIC CENTER IN ADDITION TO OFFICES. THE SPLIT OF THE THREE BUILDINGS SERVED TO PROVIDE SHADE AND ALLOW FOR A COURTYARD IN THE CENTER. THE SECOND STORY SORT OF CAVED IN AT AN INCLINED ANGLE, GIVING THE IMPRESSION THAT THE BUILDING WAS CLOSING IN. THE ENTIRE STRUCTURE FACES THE PARK’S FRONT IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE A STATEMENT, FACILITATE FURTHER PARK DEVELOPMENT, AND DRAW VISITORS WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE AQUATIC CENTER.
