DIGITAL MODELLING OF THE RELIEF OF FLOOR ICE SURFACES IN THE DOBŠINSKÁ ICE CAVE, SLOVAKIA Summary The present paper features empirical experience obtained from the use of terrestrial laser scanners to monitor ground ice in the Great and Small Hall of the Dobšinská Ice Cave. Although ground ice, as a spatial object for its optical properties isn‘t convenient to measure by terrestrial laser scanning method, respectively by other surveying methods using laser for measuring distances, there are places in the ice cave in which the movement of surveyors is restricted for nature protection reasons, or would pose a potential risk for damage of ice filling and decoration. Another reason for its use is that laser scanning is a powerful measurement technique, mapping the surface of objects with incomparably higher density and efficiency than conventional surveying methods. This contribution pointed to a case where the sufficient accuracy control points determined by tachometric or other surveying method are available in interpolation space by which it is possible to define morphometric parameters of interpolation functions to points observed by terrestrial laser scanning.
