Reflections 2022 cont…

I joined a cohort of small business entrepreneurs hosted by Vital Spaces & Creative Startups. At the end of a six-week training, I presented a threeslide, minute-and-a-half pitch for SoHyp, my somatic coaching practice. SoHyp is now an LLC and I am accepting clients

I also did a 20-slide, six-and-ahalf-minute presentation for PechaKucha Santa Fe This event is hosted by Creative Santa Fe at SITE Santa Fe to a sold-out house The theme for this PechaKucha was Multiplicity, and my presentation was on the Hypnopompic Chronicles, a RedQuyn Production

This Fall, I did a bold and uncomfortable thing I joined a “FunRaising Challenge” led by Ela Thier of the Independent Film School I was able to modify the challenge for the production of the Hypnopompic Chronicles. Thank you to all who participated in that challenge and supported the HCs

Soma refers to the body Hypnosis is a naturally altered state of being SoHyp teaches you how to enter into a state of awareness that allows you to access and deepen our somatic intelligence

SoHyp increases body/mind intelligence fusing traditional fitness with somatic movement techniques, meditation, breathwork, and more

SoHyp is a system of body and thought awareness training that assists one in learning how to use movement to activate, enhance, and support life

SoHyp incorporates mindful movement, breathwork, vocal exercises, dance, and meditation All sessions are crafted specifically for each clients needs and goals

The Hypnopompic Chronicles

A person. A puppet. A creature. An entity. A story. The Hypnopompic Chronicles are a durational performance project intended to be revised and revisited through the rest of my lifetime The characters may resolve their conflicts and phase out New ones will emerge as I get older and confront new plateaus in my life My lifestyle and practice will continue to be informed by my search for meaning and spiritual expansion.

These five characters arose separately: workshops, festivals, in line for a breakfast burrito And at some point, I started to see how they were related through me. “The Mistress Louise” was first. I have a cabaret act with her that I have performed in several venues. Most recently at The New Moon Cabaret February of 2020 Her act is an improvised question and answer set “The Girl” was almost mysterious in the way they started small, un-voiced, and sometimes sinister. “Dusty” showed up at Burning Man, Rainbow Gatherings, and shaman gatherings with Radical Faeries and the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers Dusty is a death doula “Stashbelly” was born in a workshop on buffoons “The Doll,” the inanimate one

Why hypnopompic? It is the moment just before waking up A lucid state Though hypnogogic refers to the space just before falling asleep, it is also the quality of the state at both ends of sleeping The hypnogogic state is creative space to actively imagine, to channel resonances from the aether, to experience yourself as a wave in the ocean. This is a state I have incorporated into my meditation practice when I want to intentionally activate it

What am I chronicling? Each of the characters in the HCs arose from me. I recognize when and how they have evolved and sustained their presence in my awareness throughout my life They each have their own world and story and can stand alone as a chronicle in performance, a cabaret act, a staged live performance, video series, storytelling soundscapes, and a puppet show There are threads that connect them to each other, and my plan is that they can happen simultaneously. A journaling of being- ness, individuation, and wholeness told from the perspective of 5 personas in five media expressions
