GRADUATE PROGRAMS

A LETTER FROM DEAN NAOMI BOYD

Greetings from the Daniels College of Business!

A Daniels degree equips students to solve problems with agility, ingenuity and sensitivity—critical thinking attributes that have never been more important in a competitive, rapidly evolving business world. Our graduates are in demand because they leave us market-ready, with innovative and strategic mindsets developed through experiences that transcend the classroom. From global experiences to immersions with corporate partners to relevant case studies, your time at Daniels will be unlike anything you have experienced.

It's an exciting time to enroll at Daniels. Our College has been newly restructured to better support you and help you achieve your goals.

This summer, we created a Student Success Center, which puts our specialized business advisors alongside our talented career services team, a group dedicated to helping you secure internships and jobs for your entire career, not just while you’re a student. We are also creating a dedicated graduate school, carefully designed to meet your specific needs.

Each of our programs has something that sets it apart from other business schools. Whether it’s the STEM-designated degree in quantitative finance, the School of Accountancy’s high CPA exam passage rate, or the chance for every MBA student to travel abroad and immerse themselves in a foreign business ecosystem, you will feel the Daniels difference from day one. Daniels also allows you to create the degree that you want and need, rather than prescribing it for you. This customization is delivered through over a dozen specialized, customizable graduate certificates and broad-based electives.

During your time in the program and beyond, a network of more than 40,000 alumni stands ready to accelerate your future. The connections you make here will open doors and create lifelong ties. We leverage our alumni network to ensure Daniels students are consistently in the room with big-name corporations, helping them take on their most pressing problems.

Above all, we are committed to doing things The Daniels Way: morally, ethically and with a commitment to serve the public good. You will see this mission in our values, our outreach and in the experiences that you will have in our programs.

Denver is the best place in the world to earn a business degree. Our picturesque campus is bathed in 300 days of sunshine a year and is close to both outdoor activities and a thriving business community, with tremendous access to internships, jobs and networking.

On behalf of the Daniels community, I look forward to partnering with you to accelerate your career and transform your life.

Warmly,

GRADUATE PROGRAMS

What’s the difference between an MBA and a specialized master’s degree?

The primary distinction between an MBA and a specialized master’s degree is breadth versus depth. An MBA is an internationally recognized degree designed to develop the broad-based skills required for careers in business oversight and management. Alternatively, a specialized master’s degree is designed to provide a deep dive into a specific discipline, such as accounting, business analytics, finance, management, marketing, or real estate and the built environment.

MBA PROGRAMS AT A GLANCE

EXPLORE OUR PROGRAMS

We are pleased to offer four different MBA programs and seven specialized master's programs. Choose the one that’s right for you, based on your professional profile and personal needs.

MBA PROGRAMS

Students who pursue an MBA often want to achieve a greater leadership position within an organization, or they may be in the process of switching careers. MBA students may also be interested in starting their own businesses. Earning an MBA can add both short- and long-term value to your career in the business sector and beyond. In addition to increased earning potential and career opportunities, the benefits of getting an MBA can be measured in less quantifiable ways, such as building a dynamic network, growing real-world skills, and focusing on leading with innovation and integrity.

SPECIALIZED MASTER'S

Students who pursue a specialized master’s degree often want to become an expert within a particular field. Candidates have diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. They may have recently completed an undergraduate degree or they may have been in the workforce for a few years. Others are experienced, seasoned professionals looking to enhance their understanding of a specific discipline.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATES

A Daniels graduate certificate quickly provides new skills and knowledge to advance or shift your career. Earn a valuable credential at your own speed or take the first steps toward a master's degree. We have 16-credit and 24-credit offerings in more than a dozen topics.

THE DENVER MBA

Imagine building a startup, supporting an organization that works for social good, consulting with a local corporation and traveling around the world to help a business solve a major problem. You'll experience all of these things as a student in our full-time MBA program. In just 21 months, this program will push you to solve real-world business challenges, provide opportunities for you to work alongside organizations, and give you access to a diverse network of business leaders.

With the Denver MBA (DMBA)—one of the most innovative management business degrees around—you'll leave Daniels ready to change the way the world does business.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The DMBA curriculum is composed of four distinct challenges, each emphasizing a different dimension of your development. Together, they form a cumulative experience that effectively launches your career.

Entrepreneurship Challenge (10 weeks)

You may have a great idea for a business, but how do you get started? Using design thinking, you’ll build a personalized toolkit, create a variety of potential solutions, and test and substantiate your ideas. At the end of this challenge, you and your team will pitch a validated and viable solution to an existing customer problem.

Social Good Challenge (10 weeks)

Through engagement with community stakeholders, you’ll evaluate possible responses to identified social issues and create a plan to address them. This consulting project with a local nonprofit will allow you to apply coursework to real-world challenges.

Corporate Challenge (10 weeks)

You’ll work with companies on a challenging business issue to deliver actionable results while further developing capabilities to succeed in complex environments. Working on a team, you’ll play the outside consultant role and provide value to corporate partners.

Global Challenge (17 weeks)

The program allows me to learn in a very collaborative environment with real-world applications and deliverables I can build on for my future career.

CHASE CURTIS | 2026

Integrating learning outcomes from the three previous challenges, you’ll work with an international organization on a major problem, providing an opportunity to balance cultural and business issues. The first 10 weeks are spent preparing in class, on campus once a week, followed by a 10-day working trip to your global destination. During the final five weeks, you’ll be back on campus working with your team to finalize your deliverable to your organization.

I appreciated the small class sizes, the focus on student outcomes, and the opportunity to build strong relationships with faculty and my cohort.

AMMIEE BROWN | 2026

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Experiential Learning

Prepare for the marketplace through hands-on experiences throughout your program. Every student will participate in a weekend leadership experience in the Colorado mountains and an international trip to learn about the intricacies of doing business in a global context. In addition to these core experiences, students have many other opportunities including consulting projects, site visits, and case competitions.

Find Your Cohort

From the first day, you’ll build relationships with a tight-knit group of your peers, who come from diverse backgrounds and industries. As you take classes, solve problems and tackle challenges together, your cohort grows into a business network you’ll rely on throughout your career.

Connect Through Community

Daniels has deep ties to the Denver community, and our classes ensure that you build new connections and a nucleus of support as you navigate the program. At Daniels, your peers, faculty, network of 40,000+ alumni, and our local, national and global corporate partners are invested in your success from your first day—and for the rest of your life.

The Daniels Difference

PMBA students enjoy twice-monthly community dinners, quarterly networking events with alumni, a free transit pass, a quarterly spending stipend and lifetime access to dedicated Daniels career coaches. Professional development scholarship funds are also available to help make case competitions and MBA conferences more accessible.

A Customizable Degree

Build your MBA for the career you want by adding a concentration to your degree. Concentrations are available in accounting, business analytics, executive leadership, finance, marketing, and real estate and the built environment. Or, design your own custom concentration.

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

Global Trip and Leading at the Edge experiences are included in program tuition. In-person classes are with your cohort. Online courses will be outside of that group. The 60-credit lock-step curriculum is designed to be completed in 21-months.

*Electives can be advanced core, concentration or certificate courses. Please note: This curriculum is subject to change.

CLASS SCHEDULE

PMBA core classes take place on Monday and Wednesday, evenings with a few Saturday sessions in Quarter 6. Electives may be offered on days other than Monday and Wednesday.

The in-person cohort experience is one of the key differentiators of our program. Recognizing the challenge of balancing career, school and home life, all core class sessions are recorded, and most classes are offered online for quarters in which you need flexibility. In-class participation is expected at both in-person and online classes.

MBA PROGRAMS ONLINE MBA

Experience the dynamic environment of an in-person MBA program from the comfort of your own home or office with our Online MBA program. You can customize your electives to fit your career, pick the experiential learning that interests you and complete your degree at your own pace. Our live, synchronous classes foster collaboration and conversation. Every session feels like you’re stepping into a classroom, with the flexibility of learning anywhere in the world. And small class sizes mean that you can build meaningful connections with your faculty and peers. Your professors and classmates will know you by name, not just as a face on a screen.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

A Collaborative Online Environment

Class discussions are informed by current business issues and class assignments. You’ll meet live in a virtual environment to work on group projects and connect with your classmates. Applying theory, you’ll solve current business problems together with your classmates and professors.

An Extension of the Campus Community

As an Online MBA student, you’ll be as much a part of the DU and Daniels communities as our oncampus students. You'll have access to Daniels career coaches, academic resources, mentorship programs, networking events, student gatherings and more. All students—whether you are on campus or online—are invited to walk across the stage at both graduation ceremonies, Academic Hood and Commencement, to celebrate the hard work that goes into earning a graduate degree.

A Face-to-Face Experience

To increase your network beyond the live sessions, you'll attend at least two in-person immersions. These multi-day experiences are offered in Denver and in cities around the world and are designed to enrich your education with new perspectives and deepen your understanding of unique topics, while building lasting relationships with your classmates, faculty and the Daniels alumni community. Additionally, you can choose to take any of your courses on campus.

I chose Daniels because for its more intimate classroom experience, and I knew this program would challenge me.

EBONI WILLIAMS | 2025

A Deep Connection to Your Faculty

Many program faculty teach both online and in-person and care deeply about connecting with you. You can expect to receive extensive feedback on your work. Our faculty are experienced, not only in the graduate classroom, but also in business. Many of our faculty have started and/or owned their own businesses, and consult as part of their portfolio.

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

Core courses should be taken in this order. In addition, five elective classes are required, which can be within or outside of a concentration. Please work with your advisor to build your schedule.

AVERAGE YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE

*These courses are offered during the same quarter. This 60-credit online program can be completed in as few as 21 months. Participation in two immersions/experientials is required for graduation. Online MBA courses require both synchronous and asynchronous work. Synchronous work refers to the weekly live sessions that accompany Online MBA courses. Asynchronous work refers to the self-paced coursework that students complete on their own.

Each course requires a 90-minute live session each week, affording students the unique opportunity to interact with each other and the instructor in real time. Finance, marketing and executive leadership concentrations can be completed online. Accounting, business analytics, and real estate and the built environment concentrations are currently only available to those students who can take on-campus courses. Students also have the option to complete a customized (selfdesigned) concentration.
