A Day in the Life of...

MAR POZA, THE ART TEACHER By Omar Mohamed & Ana Denisa Ciotlaus

The other day we had a talk with Mar Poza, our Art teacher. She has been working as a Secondary School teacher for 14 years, and 10 of them have been here at IES Sabinar. She told us that her relationship with the students, from her point of view, is very good. She believes that the thing that most annoys her is when the students aren't interested in what she explains. She also told us one funny anecdote: a student was playing with a green spray; he thought that the spray was empty, but it wasn't, so the spray started to come out and it got all the students dirty. Mar went to the director's office and she discovered that the student was the director's son.

A Day in the Life of...

She never thought that she would be an Art teacher. One thing that she loves about her job is to do new projects and see the students enjoying them.

DRAMA LESSONS By Miriam Aitaoui & Ainara L贸pez Aguado

Sabinar Speaks talked with Amanda and Mar铆a del Mar, from the drama lessons. Most of the time they do acting exercises, spelling; they try to not be shy with their partners and control the stage panic when they are on the show. This term they have performed the Day of the Spanish Constitution, representing different types of societies. They like this project about theatre, because it caught their attention, and they say that they would repeat it again. Carmen Castillo, the teacher of this subject, is a very good expert in theatre and drama, and she is fulfilling all the expectations from the students at the same time as they are enjoying it!

MOGON, MY HOMETOWN By Nuria Robles [1º ESO C]

I was born in a beautiful village called Mogón. It is located at the bottom of Cazorla (Jaén). Around there are green olive trees which give the best olive oil in the world. The Guadalquivir river and a tributary river called Aguascebas pass by my hometown. In the summer we swim in it. Although it is a small town, it is charming and everybody knows one another. I recommend you to visit my hometown, you will never forget it.

LADY GAGA's CONCERT By Marcelino Fernández (2º Bachillerato B)

Last week I travelled to Barcelona to make one of my dreams come true. I saw Lady Gaga in concert! I went with three friends, they love Gaga, too. The concert was really amazing. First, we took a plane to fly to Barcelona. My friends were scared because it was the first time they were flying. When we arrived at the hotel, we were very tired. At the hotel hall there were a lot of foreign people. There was an Irish man who was wearing a skirt. It was so funny. Maybe he was drunk, I suppose. The next day, early in the morning, we were ready to see the city centre. We visited the Sagrada Familia, the Güell Park and a lot of landmarks. Later, we returned to the hotel to get ready for the concert. It was at the Palau San Jordi stadium. We were so excited in the queue of the concert! When we were inside, we could see the stage and the colourful lights. Suddenly, the music started to play and the lights turned off. Everybody started to scream and Gaga started to sing. The atmosphere was lively. All in all, Barcelona was amazing and it was the best concert I have ever been to.

MY COUSIN's WEDDING By Clara Moreno (2ยบ Bachillerato B)

Two months ago, I went to my cousin's wedding. The wedding was in Mรกlaga, in a wonderful church next to the beach, in the open air. I hadn't seen my cousin for many months and I had never met his girlfriend who, in a short time, would become his wife. All in all I had a great time. My family and I arrived in Mรกlaga the day before, and we visited the city and some monuments. It was the wedding day and we began to get ready for the celebration. When we arrived, the church was already crowded. People were sitting, talking excitedly, and there was areal buzz in the air. It was a sunny and warm day, it was the perfect day to get married. Suddenly, the musicians began to play and all the bridesmaids came into the garden church singing and dancing. Then, when the groom and the bridesmaids were at the altar, the musicians began to play the nuptial song and the bride, in a wonderful white dress, began to walk towards the altar. All the people were silent and, while everybody was looking at the bride, I looked at my cousin, and I saw him with the biggest eyes that I had seen in all my life. He was very happy, and he was starting another life with the woman he was in love with. Finally, we went to a restaurant and had a nice family meal, and after that we danced for a while. It was a wonderful, beautiful wedding.

A TRIP TO LONDON By Cintya Molina (2ยบ Bachillerato B)

Five years ago I went on a trip to London with my friends and my English teacher. We wanted to visit the city and discover a new culture. For me, it wasthe first time that I travelled abroad, so I felt extremely happy and excited. When we arrived at the city centre, we saw a lot of people and cars in the streets. It was great! The next morning we decided to go to the London Eye and enjoy the view of the city. It was a cold and stormy day, but in spite of the bad weather, the trains were crowded and I was scared of getting lost. Unfortunately, that was what happened later. After our group had got off the train, everybody started walking very quickly and I couldn't follow them. To my surprise, I found myself alone at the station. The terrible thing was that I didn't speak any English and I didn't have my mobile phone with me. I didn't know what to do and where to go to find my friends. Moreover, I had an impression that it wasthe worst nightmare of my life. Suddenly, I heard my name by the loudspeakers, it was my teacher. I couldn't believe my ears but it was true. They were waiting for me at the exit of the train station, so I went there immediately and I felt really happy to see them. Although I will never forget this terrible experience, I learnt at that moment that you shouldn't panic and feel helpless. 14

ELEMENTAL

WAR By José Antonio Martínez Pérez (2º Bachillerato B)

This is a made-up story which explains the formation of Planet Earth. Long ago, before the human race appeared, Planet Earth was nothing but an isolated valley. It was then when godly, immortal beings called Elementals existed. They were divided in two tribes: the Water Tribe and the Earth Tribe. They all shared a common desire: the expansion of their own element. However, expanding one of these elements would lead to the disappearance of its counterpart. Since this was a problem talking could not solve, the Earth Tribe leader Nildrun declared war to the Water Tribe leader, Blannir. The confrontation began. High mountains and vast oceans were created. The war shattered the planet. It seemed like the Earth was condemned to disappear. However, a light of hope appeared. A third Elemental came down from the sky. It was the one who represented the Sky Tribe, Arnel. It stopped the two armies and organized the expansion of those two elements: first, wide landscapes were formed, and water surrounded them. These were the continents and the oceans. Both Nildrum and Blannir found satisfied and fell asleep within the core of the planet as its protectors. Arnel raised above the sky and disappeared.
