Chant Out Loud with Amalia is intended to be a series of little story books accompanied with chants, to discover the Alternative Spellings of the English Language. This will be the ďŹ rst book of Chant Out Loud with Amalia.

Teachers, caregivers and parents can read out loud the book to their young learners and chant together.

Fluent readers can as much use the book to read and explore alternative spellings, helping them to better read and write in English.

Hoping that you will all enjoy that little English Learning Adventure with Amalia.

Hello to all the children around the world.

My name is Amalia and I live in a beautiful little island, The Green Island.

I live not so far from the beach and I love swimming.

I am six years old and love going to school because I am learning how to read and write in English using letter sounds.

Now, I know my 42 basic letter sounds.

My teacher Danielle is now helping my friends and I to recognize different letter sounds written in different ways. She calls them the Alternative Spellings.

I am not so sure to understand alternative but it is so much fun to learn about.

Today at school we learned that the letter ‘y’ can have the same sound as ‘ee’ like in bee. Here are some words that Teacher Danielle taught us

sunny

funny puppy

spotty

Here is a little story: A group of happy children were playing in the park on a sunny day.

Guess who they meet at the park???
