It’s Dodge County Fair Time

It’s summer and that can only mean the Dodge County Fair is right around the corner. August 19-23 is full of concerts, food, rides, exhibits and fun for the entire family. This concert venue and county fair entertains more than 52,000 people each year and is the area’s main attraction.

Plenty Of Activities Planned At The Annual Iron Ridge Picnic

The 127th fun-filled Iron Ridge Fire Department Picnic will be held August 6 through 9. Kicking off the annual event will be the free sweet corn roast on Thursday, Aug. 6. Sweet corn is will be available beginning at 5 p.m. Be sure to get there early because when it’s gone, it’s gone. Playing rock music from 7:30 to 11 p.m. will be Nobody’s Hero. At dusk, enjoy a fireworks show. Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, a fish fry will be available, and Bill McCollum will be broadcasting WXRO’s Barn Show live from the picnic grounds beginning at 5 p.m. Softball action begins at 6 p.m. on Friday. Two bands will be performing on Friday. Enjoy polka music from 5:30 to 10 p.m. with the Kenny Brandt Band. Vic

Ferrari will take the stage from 9 p.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday will include volleyball and softball tournaments. From 6 to 10 p.m. will be the country music performance of Gary Cross ‘Cedar Creek Band’. The Toys will perfrom from 9 to 10 p.m. As usual, the gigantic parade marches through the village on Sunday, the last day of the picnic. The parade will step off at 11 a.m. The UW-Madison marching band will return to march in this year’s parade. Iron Ridge native Brandon Berens is a member of the band. Beanbags will be played at 2 p.m. The softball championship will take place on Sunday. Three musical performances will occur on Sunday. From 1:30 to

5:30 p.m., enjoy polka music with Brian and the Mississippi Valley Dutchmen. Local band Dexter Road will be on stage from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., and local musician Spid Pieper will perform

cheese curds, strawberry ice cream, funnel cake and cream puffs, the fairgrounds are a special and an important place to review the value of fairs as a classroom to the young exhibitors. The fair is a mere three miles east of Beaver Dam on State Highway 33. The musical acts for this year won’t be announced until closer to the time of the fair.
