The Board of Directors of Coastal Behavioral Healthcare, Inc., proudly joins the staff in presenting Coastal’s 2006-2007 Annual Report. If you are among the many that supported Coastal this year and in the past, we take this opportunity to thank you for your help in making Coastal one of the most effective organizations of its kind in the country. If you are reviewing this report to help you decide whether to become a Coastal supporter, we thank you as well. Simply by your consideration of the case for supporting Coastal you demonstrate your fundamental concern for the well-being of those members of our community which Coastal serves. It is customary in messages such as this to speak of the challenges the organization has faced in the preceding year, and our successes in meeting those challenges. That is no less so for Coastal in 2006-2007. We operate in a rapidly-changing environment of economic concerns and reduced public funding for mental health and substance abuse care. The same economic stresses cause increased demand for our services, in addition to the demands of serving a growing community. As Coastal supporters, you should be proud to know that the dedication of our professional staff, leveraged by smart, innovative management leadership, is meeting these challenges and that the organization is in a stronger financial position than it was a year ago. Your Board of Directors is committed to maintaining this approach in the coming year, as we believe that only by maintaining financial strength do we provide our superlative professional staff with the resources needed to fulfill Coastal’s mission: To provide behavioral healthcare services that exceed expectations for quality, availability and satisfaction. Please join me in welcoming Patricia Anderson of Longboat Key and Dudley Carson of Sarasota to Board membership, as well as Sarasota’s Jim Allan, former director and Board chair who was able to rejoin us this year. All the Board joins me once again in thanking you for taking the time to learn of Coastal’s successes, and its needs, and for your help in truly “Caring for Our Community”.
