As summer comes to an end, get ready, because next school year is only gonna get tougher!
Division 28 North News: Early-Bird Dues are Nov. 1. Our RTC theme is: “Throwback to the 90’s!” RTC money and rosters will be submitted at our next DCM, Sept. 9, 5-6pm at A-TECH. Find chaperones for RTC! Our D28N FRS preps will be during the weekends following RTC. Lastly, applications for the fourth DLT position, Service EXPO Coordinator are now available! Contact LTG Rey-Rey for info. Shout-out to A-TECH President Jessica Dimalanta for sending me all these new phoenix arts she made! You’ll see ’em around my newsletters! A-TECH/RANCHO:
SOCIAL
On the 19th of July, A-TECH went with Rancho to the Las Vegas Ice Center for a summer ice skating social. The entire event lasted two hours, completely filled with fun and music. During those two hours, we not only were able to make new friends with the members of Rancho's Key Club, but a lot of us were able to practice ice skating and get a lot better at it! The entire social was a great event and I feel that this event really helped our members bond for the next Key Club year. Events like these help everyone relax a bit and get to know each other more. If you didn't go this time around, hopefully, next time we have a social, you can attend! Because it was definitely a great social and a great way to make new friends, especially for the incoming freshmen. A-TECH Treasurer

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION On August 19th, East Tech held its annual freshman orientation! As a student involved with Key Club, the orientation is always something to look forward to. Just like any new student heading into a high school, the curiosity of clubs and such started to settle in. And to know that I was once in their shoes, I find the opportunity of informing newcomers about Key Club quite exciting. Since I’ve experienced what Key Club has to offer, I have had the chance to tell new and upcoming students what Key Club is all about. I was able to tell them about what the club consists of, from the community service projects and their uplifting wonders to social events where we have extremely fun times as a club. Spotlight on Service, August 2014:
CHILDREN'S EDUCATION August is the month when we get back in school, and that goes for the youngest children, too! For this month’s Spotlight on Service, we’ll be supporting those kids! Donate to charities, tutor, and have fun!
“The CNH Spotlight on Service Program was created by the Service Projects Committee to promote International and District initiatives as well as to encourage active participation with organizations/initiatives. The Service Projects Committee will provide monthly guides that include tips and ideas on how clubs can complete the monthly service initiatives. Check out the monthly guides below to get some ideas for your club's service projects. The program also gives clubs the opportunity to showcase their unique service projects that positively impacts their home, school, and community. The Spotlight on Service Program would like to receive project submissions from the District to showcase projects from the previous month in the District Newsletter. Receive recognition and inspire someone with your creative project ideas. Clubs must submit their project through an electronic form. This form is very easy to complete and is due by the 5th of each month, for the previous month. August DCM Recap:
D28 @ DESERT BREEZE At the beginning of this month’s Division 28 Joint Division Council Meeting, we started-off with the Pledge of Allegiance and then our Key Club pledges. Afterward, one representative from each Key Club came up in a single-file line and told us what their Key Club did for this month. Next, our LTG’s informed us of the increase on the dues, the 10-1 chaperon rule, and the attire for Region Training Conference. Not only that, but they also mentioned the Division Service Expo with is coming up as well. The divisions also want to use the Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) and be more active with Spotlight on Service. Our LTG’s then gave us some advice on what our clubs should do on the day of Freshman Orientation, for example: free hug signs and the service hours. Towards the end of the DCM, we gave-out recognition awards to our most dedicated Key Club members and some really nice lanyards to those who answered trivia questions in the day’s discussion. And to top it all off, we had one huge ice-breaker, involving everyone who came! The meeting officially adjourned at 10:54 PM.
