SHELL KANGUNDO ROAD

PROJECT TYPE : Petrol Station

PROJECT STAGE: Conceptual

Key Features of Deconstructivism Architecture Style:

• Unrelated forms.

• Abstract in nature.

• Smooth exterior surfaces.

• Contrast of shapes and forms.

• Large expanses of a single material (glass, metals, stones, etc.).

• Window frames often hidden in the walls.

• Simple metal frame doors.

• Exposed materials.

“It is the ability to disturb our thinking about form that makes these projects deconstructive. It examines an episode, a point of intersection between several architects where each constructs an unsettling building by exploiting the hidden potential of modernism.”

OVERVIEW

The Project also had an emphasis on use of concrete in creative and adaptive ways to achieve a congruent form.

In this case a concrete shell spanning over the filling station suppirted by angled columns.
