News of these time markers goes back at least to 2000 B.C. from the Babylonians, peoples of Mesopotamia, the Egyptians, the Jews up to the Romans who handed them down to all the populations of the world.

Weg entdecken wir dreissig von den achtzig Sonnenuhren dieser Region, die man auf den Fassaden der Häuser bewundern kann. Die Ursprünge der Sonnenuhrenreichen sehr weit zurück. Im Jahr zweitausend vor Christus finden sich in Babylon schon die ersten Belege für diese faszinierenden Zeugen der Kultur vergangener Jahrhunderte. Von dort aus gelangten die Sonnenuhren nach Mesopotamien und zu den Aegyptern, Juden, und schliesslich zu den Römern, die sie im Laufe ihrer wechselvollen Geschichte in allen Völkern ihres Herrschaftsbereiches verbreiteten, also auch im Malcantone.
