Lugano e Malcantone Lugano con il lago, le sue valli ed il Malcantone propongono un ventaglio ampio e articolato di motivi per un soggiorno. Lugano e l’intera regione che le gravita attorno sono quindi protese verso un turismo “intelligente”, perché molto vario e sostenuto anche da offerte culturali che per vocazione si inseriscono nel carattere di questa terra: dai molti musei alla costate offerta di spettacoli e di concerti, dagli edifici nei centri storici all’edilizia rurale nelle vallate, fino alle costruzioni moderne della “nuova architettura ticinese”, ormai famosa nel mondo.

With the lake, its valleys and the Malcantone offer a wide and varied range of good reasons for a stay. Much of its success as a centre of tourism derives from its temperate climate, moderated by the presence of the lake, with mild winters and a high proportion of sunny days. The landscape has not been spoilt by excessive urbanisation, and its natural balance of summits, mountain, valleys, hills and lowland makes it an agreeable place to be in any season, offering a wide range of things to do: mountain bike and mountain climbing to heights of almost 2000 m., bathing in lake and swimming pool, playing tennis or golf, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, walking through virtually unspoilt countryside and villages, as well as doing essential business and shopping. The region’s attractions are varied, and it offers support and sustenance to many cultural facilities and activities: museums devoted to ethnography and the visual arts; a constant stream of

concerts and events; historic city centres, traditional domestic architecture and the modern offerings of today internationally famous “Ticino school”. I caratteri della vita comunitaria delle popolazioni che abitano la regione del lago di Lugano sono ancora oggi riferiti fondamentalmente alla storia civile e religiosa, alla posizione geografica, alla cultura e all’economia. L’indole della gente è tipicamente latina, quindi aperta, accogliente, disposta al dialogo e alla comunicazione. Ne deriva una certa gioia di vivere, evidente nei luoghi d’incontro: le tipiche piazze lombarde, in particolare Piazza della Riforma a Lugano, la vita dei quartieri, i grotti e le osterie, i sagrati, le rive del lago e le moderne sedi di congressi. Partendo da questi presupposti, la regione ha sviluppato un’animazione molto intensa che, lungo l’arco dell’anno, ha alcuni momenti salienti. Tra questi vanno annoverate alcune antiche tradizioni: le Processioni Storiche del Giovedì e Venerdì Santo a Mendrisio e in altri centri del Mendrisiotto, la Maggiolata nel Malcantone, la Festa d’Autunno a Lugano, le sagre religiose nei villaggi, come quelle di San Martino a Mendrisio e di San Provino ad Agno. Fra le diverse proposte in città merita una citazione il grande spettacolo pirotecnico nel golfo di Lugano, che ha luogo la sera del 1°agosto in occasione dei festeggiamenti per la Festa Nazionale. Non meno importante è la Festa d’Autunno, che si celebra nelle diverse vie e piazze di Lugano a conclusione della lunga estate all’insegna della gastronomia, dei vini e dei prodotti tipici della regione, il tutto da assaggiare accompagnato da musica e diverse animazioni per tutti i gusti. Manifestazioni più recenti, ma di altrettanto prestigio, sono i diversi mercatini di Natale, la Notte del 31 dicembre in Piazza Riforma e la Pasqua in Città. Sul piano merceologico ricordiamo manifestazioni fieristiche come Artecasa, Luganoexpo, Edilespo, LuganoNautica, Tisana, TI-Tattoo, I Viaggiatori, Più Gusto, Ticino Informatica a Lugano, che attirano migliaia di visitatori anche dal resto della Svizzera e dalla vicina Italia. Importante e crescente è l’attività culturale. L’apertura di musei e pinacoteche, anche in centri minori, ha comportato un vasto fervore espositivo sul piano sia dell’arte, di grande respiro internazionale, sia degli usi e dei costumi, ma anche degli aspetti legati alle tradizionali attività economiche. Significativa è inoltre l’attività concertistica, che ruota attorno alle stagioni sinfoniche dei Concerti d’Autunno e nell’ambito di Lugano Festival, con il fondamentale apporto dell’Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, e si esplica anche con numerosi cicli concertistici locali: le Settimane Musicali di Lugano e di Castagnola, la rassegna di Ceresio Estate

nei villaggi rivieraschi. Sotto l’aspetto dell’arte e della musica, la regione assicura una serie di appuntamenti di valore assoluto, con la presenza di pittori e scultori, direttori d’orchestra, complessi musicali e solisti di fama internazionale. A questi vanno aggiunti numerosi appuntamenti all’aria aperta legati alla musica moderna: concerti rock e pop, ma soprattutto legati al jazz e al blues: è il caso di Estival Jazz e del Blues to Bop di Lugano nei mesi estivi, con formazioni provenienti da tutto il mondo. Tanto che oggi questo territorio è diventato un punto di riferimento culturale, che interessa e coinvolge uno spazio che va oltre i suoi confini. L’attività culturale, così come quella legata all’animazione, si svolge praticamente in tutti i periodi dell’anno con una diffusione assai capillare. Time-honoured traditions include historical processions on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at Mendrisio and neighbouring villages, a May festival in the Malcantone area, grape harvest celebrations in Lugano, and village festivals in honour of patron saints such as San Martino at Mendrisio and San Provino at Agno. Lugano’s own festival includes a firework display on the shores of the lake. More recently, the town has begun to host trade fairs, such as Artecasa, Luganoexpo, Edilespo, LuganoNautica, Tisana, Titoy, TI-Tattoo, I Viaggiatori, Più Gusto, Ticino Informatica, which draw thousands of visitors from other parts of Switzerland and from across the Italian frontier. Cultural activities have been growing in number and importance. The opening of new museums and art galleries – and not only in Lugano – has created a great enthusiasm for exhibitions on the themes of art, local customs, and traditional economic activities. featuring the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana are organised by the Radiotelevisione (broadcasting authority) and the spring Concert Season in Lugano, while local music festivals thrive at Castagnola, Breganzona, Tesserete, Aranno, Melide and in other lake-side villages. The region’s artistic and musical events are of the highest order, attracting painters, sculptors, conductors, ensembles and soloists of international repute. Nor is modern music neglected. As well as numerous rock and pop concerts, jazz is featured at Estival jazz, and a Blues to Bop festival takes place in Lugano in the summer months, attracting mainly American performers. As a result, the region become a major cultural centre, exerting an influence beyond its own borders. There are cultural events and activities going on virtually all the year round, in towns and villages throughout the area. Das Gemeinschaftsleben der Bevölkerung in der Region des Luganersee wird auch heute noch weitgehend von der Geschichte des zivilen und religiösen Lebens, der geographischen Lage, der Kultur und wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung bestimmt. Der Charakter der Menschen ist typisch lateinisch, das heißt offen, gastfreundlich, dem Dialog und der Kommunikation zugeneigt. Daraus leitet sich eine gewisse Lebenslust ab, die sich besonders auf öffentlichen Begegnungsstätten beobachten lässt: auf den typisch lombardischen Plätzen, vor allem auf der Piazza della Riforma in Lugano, in den Quartieren, Grotti und Wirtschaften, auf den Kirchhöfen, an den Seeufern und in den modernen Kongresshäusern. Unter diesen Voraussetzungen hat die Region übers ganze Jahr eine intensive Aktivität entwickelt mit einigen besonders herausstechenden Momenten. Zu diesen gehören auch antike Traditionen wie beispielsweise die historischen Osterprozessionen von Mendrisio am Gründonnerstag und am Karfreitag, die Maggiolata (Mailiedersingen) im Malcantone, das Herbstfest in Lugano, zahlreiche religiöse Dorffeste wie San Martino in Mendrisio oder San Provino in Agno. „Lugano in Festa“ seinerseits bietet unter anderem Feuerwerke an den Seeufern. Auf dem kommerziellen Sektor haben sich in jüngster Zeit vor allem die Ausstellungen Artecasa, Luganoexpo, Edilespo, LuganoNautica, Tisana, Titoy, TI-Tattoo, I Viaggiatori, Più Gusto und Ticino Informatica in Lugano durchgesetzt, die Jahr für Jahr Tausende von Besuchern auch aus der nördlichen Schweiz und aus Italien anlocken. Zunehmend wichtig ist auch die kulturelle Aktivität. Die Eröffnung von Museen und Pinakotheken, auch in kleineren Ortschaften, hat zu einer regen Ausstellungstätigkeit mit internationalem Echo auf dem Gebiet der Kunst geführt; dazu kommen Ausstellungen über Brauchtum und traditionelles Handwerk.

Bedeutend ist auch die Konzerttätigkeit, die sich um die symphonischen Konzerte de Radiotelevisione und die Frühlingskonzerte von Lugano rankt, mit der wichtigen Unterstützung durch das Orchester der italienische Schweiz. Dazu gesellen sich zahlreiche Konzertzyklen auf lokaler Ebene, so in Castagnola, Breganzona, Tesserete, Melide und in anderen Seegemeinden. In Bezug auf bildende Kunst und Musik bietet die Region eine ganze Reihe von Veranstaltungen höchster Qualität. Lockt Maler, Bildhauer, Dirigenten, Orchester und international berühmte Solisten an. Auch die moderne Musik hat ihre Veranstaltungen: Rockund Pop-, vor allem Jazz- und Blues-Konzerte. So beispielsweise am Estival Jazz und am Blues to Bop in Lugano während der Sommermonate, mit vorwiegend amerikanischen Formationen. All diese Aktivitäten haben aus der Region Luganersee einen kulturellen Bezugspunkt gemacht, der weit über die Grenzen des Gebietes hinauswirkt. Sowohl die kulturellen Ereignisse wie die anderen Veranstaltungen verteilen sich über das ganze Jahr hinweg.

sentiero del castagno - Il sentiero si snoda lungo un percorso di ca. 10 km nell’Alto Malcantone dove i villaggi di Arosio, Mugena, Vezio, Fescoggia e Breno si integrano armoniosamente tra boschi e prati. Il percorso presenta 8 punti didattici marcati sul terreno e offre numerose infomazioni sui processi di lavorazione e uso del legno rispettivamente della castagna e dei suoi derivati.

The Chestnut Path - The approximately 10 km path winds

along a route in the high Malcantone region in which the towns of Arosio, Mugena, Vezio, Fescoggia and Breno are harmoniously integrated between woods and fields. The path presents 8 different educational markers on the terrain and offers a great deal of information regarding the chestnut and its derivatives, as well as clarifications about working the wood and its usage.

Un percorso che ci guida alla scoperta di muri a secco, mulini, ruderi di un castello d’epoca romana, miniere d’oro abbandonate, il maglio ancora funzionante, il tutto situato sul fondo valle e immerso in una splendida cornice naturale. Percorso con pause ca. 5-6 ore.

The Path

of Marvels - Along this path, one is constantly immersed in nature, but also encounters man-made works with a variable frequency. This route guides us to discover dry-stone walls, mills, remains of a castle from Roman times, abandoned gold mines, a mill that is still functioning today, all situated at the bottom of the valley and framed by splendid natural surroundings. With a break, it takes 5 to 6 hours to walk the entire path.

of the more than eighty sundials painted on the walls of the houses as evidence of the historical patrimony of the society before ours. News of these time markers goes back at least to 2000 B.C. from the Babylonians, peoples of Mesopotamia, the Egyptians, the Jews up to the Romans who handed them down to all the populations of the world.

Weg entdecken wir dreissig von den achtzig Sonnenuhren dieser Region, die man auf den Fassaden der Häuser bewundern kann. Die Ursprünge der Sonnenuhrenreichen sehr weit zurück. Im Jahr zweitausend vor Christus finden sich in Babylon schon die ersten Belege für diese faszinierenden Zeugen der Kultur vergangener Jahrhunderte. Von dort aus gelangten die Sonnenuhren nach Mesopotamien und zu den Aegyptern, Juden, und schliesslich zu den Römern, die sie im Laufe ihrer wechselvollen Geschichte in allen Völkern ihres Herrschaftsbereiches verbreiteten, also auch im Malcantone.

Tracce d’uomo - È un percorso che si snoda attorno al nucleo di

Castelrotto nel comune di Croglio. La lunghezza del tragitto è di ca. 4 km ed è facilmente percorribile in ca. 2 ore e seguendo l’apposito logo che rappresenta le mani, si entra in contatto con il paesaggio e con le varie strutture; dal caseificio, ai vigneti, alla giazzera fino al roccolo, strutture che nel loro silenzio e staticità presentano le testimonianze di antiche attività.

of Man - This route winds around the old town centre of Castelrotto in the borough of Croglio. The length of the path is approximately 4 km and is easily travelled in approximately 2 hours. By following appropriate signs with hands depicted on them, one comes into contact with the landscape and various structures: from the cheese dairies and vineyards to the ice houses and lookouts used by hunters for bird watching, structures that in their silences and static nature are witness to ancient activities.

un museo, l’unico dedicato a lui in Svizzera, aprono interessanti spiragli di luce sulla lunga presenza in Ticino di questo famosissimo scrittore e poeta. Il percorso dedicato a Hermann Hesse intende condurre ad alcuni punti del paesaggio della Collina d’Oro che furono particolarmente cari al poeta e trovano un riflesso nelle sue opere. Lungo il tracciato si percorre sia la periferia quanto il nucleo di Montagnola; la parte finale attraversa il bosco per terminare al cimitero del paese.

path and a museum, (the only one dedicated to him in the whole of Switzerland), shed light on the long period spent by this very renowned poet and writer in Ticino. The path dedicated to Hermann Hesse intends to lead the observer to certain points of the landscape on the Golden Hill, which were especially dear to the poet and that are mirrored in his works. The path winds its way both through the outskirts of Montagnola and in its centre; the final part passes through the woods and ends up at the town’s cemetery.

dell’Olivo - Il sentiero si snoda tra Castagnola e Gandria attraversando una zona dove esistono i resti di antichi oliveti e dove è stato reintrodotto recentemente l’olivo. Si accede al sentiero sia da Castagnola (nelle vicinanze dell’exmunicipio), sia da Gandria. Il percorso è arricchito da 18 tavole che informano sulla storia, la botanica e la coltivazione dell’olivo, nonché sui suoi prodotti (olive, olio).

The Olive Path - The Path winds along the countryside between

Castagnola and Gandria and crosses hillsides of ancient olive trees where just recently fruiting olive trees have been reintroduced. You can reach the path either from Castagnola (close to the old Municipal Building), or from Gandria. There are 18 panels offering descriptions of the olive tree’s history, its botany, its cultivation and its products as well (the olive fruit ant olive oil).

Ausgangspunkt ist entweder Castagnola (in der Nähe des ehemaligen Gemeindehauses) oder Gandria. 18 Informationstafeln geben Auskunft über Geschichte, Botanik und den Anbau des Olivenbaums sowie die Verarbeitung seiner Früchte.

Monumenti d’arte attorno al Lago di Lugano The artistic heritage of Lake Lugano Kunstdenkmäler in der Region Lugano

La vocazione artistica del Ticino e dei suoi abitanti lungo i secoli ha dato vita ad una serie di insigni monumenti, che ancora oggi decorano città e villaggi. Non è possibile stabilire dei collegamenti tra i vari artisti né tracciare un percorso di tipo cronologico. Semplicemente vogliamo qui ricordare alcune delle maggiori opere d’arte, in aggiunta a quelle già menzionate sotto le voci specifiche. V’è poi da aggiungere che grandissime testimonianze dell’operatività artistica dei ticinesi sono visibili nelle più importanti città europee, da Roma a Venezia, da Vienna a Parigi, da Varsavia a San Pietroburgo e Mosca. La radicata tradizione religiosa ha fatto sì che gran parte delle opere d’arte sia rappresentata da chiese monumenti religiosi, specialmente in ambito architettonico e scultoreo. A Lugano merita una visita la Cattedrale di San Lorenzo con una splendida facciata rinascimentale; la chiesa ha un impianto romanico e una serie di affreschi del sec. XIII sulla parete ovest e dei sec. XIIIXVIII sui pilastri della navata. Da notare in una cappella laterale una pala di G.B. Carloni del 1632. Sul lungolago sorge la Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angioli, già facente parte di un convento francescano fondato nel 1490 e soppresso nel 1848. La parete che separa il coro è interamente coperta da un affresco monumentale realizzato nel 1529 da Bernardino Luini, che raffigura la Passione e la Crocifissione di Cristo. Sempre a Lugano, segnaliamo anche la Chiesa di Loreto con il portico in stile rococò e i Palazzi Riva in stile barocco. Tra gli edifici romanici sono senz’altro da visitare le Chiese dei S.S Pietro e Paolo a Sureggio (Lugaggia), di San Martino a Sonvico e di S. Stefano a Miglieglia, in cui sono conservati significativi affreschi della fine del periodo gotico. Meritano una visita anche la Chiesa di S. Ambrogio a Cademario, dove il santuario primitivo a navata unica risale al sec. XII, la Chiesa di S. Maria dei Ghirli a Campione, che conserva importanti affreschi del Tre e del Seicento, e San Mamete a Mezzovico, con il campanile romanico e affreschi del Cinquecento. A Carona risale all’epoca romanica la Chiesa di S. Maria Assunta di Torello, con frammenti di affreschi del XIII sec., mentre ricche decorazioni a stucco e affreschi del Petrini si possono ammirare nel Santuario di S. Maria d’Ongero. Sempre a Carona, tracce di romanico possono essere ammirate anche nella Chiesa di S. Giorgio. Stupendo il campanile romanico della Chiesa di S. Stefano a

Tesserete, il cui interno è caratterizzato da sontuose decorazioni, tra cui alcuni affreschi del Quattrocento. Risale a prima del Mille l’origine della Chiesa di S. Vitale a Riva San Vitale, località famosa per il Battistero, che è il più antico monumento cristiano conservatosi in Svizzera: datato del 500 circa, è del tipo a pianta centrale strutturato in una costruzione cubica sormontata da un ottagono. Pregevoli affreschi tardo-gotici sono visibili nella Cappella di S. Antonio Abate a Morcote. Degno di interesse a Ponte Capriasca, nella chiesa di origine medievale con campanile romanico dedicata a S. Ambrogio, è un affresco del 1550 raffigurante l’Ultima Cena, copia di grande valore documentario del capolavoro di Leonardo da Vinci. Over the centuries, the people of canton Ticino have expressed their artistic talents in a series of distinguished monuments, which to this day grace town and village. Without attempting to establish connections between the various artists or make a chronological survey, we will simply record here some of the chief masterpieces, in addition to those specifically mentioned in other sections. It should also be borne in mind that some of the greatest expressions of the artistic activity of the local people are to be found in such far-flung centres as Rome and Venice, Vienna and Paris, Warsaw, St.Petersburg and Moscow. In a region with so deep-rooted a religious tradition, most work of art were created for churches and other ecclesiastical buildings, particularly in the fields of architecture and sculpture. In Lugano, it is worth visiting the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, which has a Romanesque ground plan and magnificent renaissance facade. The west wall is decorated with thirteenth-century frescos, while those on the pilasters of the nave date from the thirteenth to eighteenth centuries. One of the side chapels has an altar piece by G.B. Carloni, executed in 1632. On the lakeside stands the church of Santa Maria degli Angioli, once part of a Franciscan convent (founded 1490, suppressed 1848). The wall separating the nave from the chancel is entirely covered with a monumental fresco depicting the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ, painted in 1529 by Bernardino Luini. Other buildings of note in Lugano are the church of Loreto, which has a rococo portico, and the baroque-style Riva residences. The region boasts some very fine Romanesque architecture: the churches of SS. Pietro e Paolo at Sureggio (Lugaggia), San Martino at Sonvico and S. Stefano at Miglieglia, which has some important late-gothic frescos. Other buildings worth visiting are the church of St. Ambrogio at Cademario, whose primitive sanctuary with its single aisle dates from the twelfth century; S. Maria dei

Ghirli at Campione, with its interesting fourteenth and seventeenth century frescos; and S. Mamete at Mezzovico, which has Romanesque bell tower and frescos dating from the sixteenth century. At Carona, fragments of thirteenth-century fresco painting can be seen in the church of Santa Maria Assunta al Torello, which is of Romanesque origin, while the sanctuary of S. Maria d’Ongero is richly decorated with stucco work and frescos by Petrini. Still at Carona, vestiges of Romanesque architecture can be detected in the church of San Giorgio. A breath-taking Romanesque bell tower overshadows the church of S. Stefano at Tesserete, whose sumptuous interior decoration includes some fifteenth-century frescos. The church of S. Vitale at Riva San Vitale was founded before the year 1000. This village is famous for its baptistery, the oldest Christian monument in Switzerland, dating from around the year 500. The design is simplicity itself, consisting of a cubic structure surmounted by an octagon. Some fine late-gothic frescos can be seen in the chapel of S. Antonio Abate at Morcote, while the medieval church of S. Ambrogio at Ponte Capriasca is particularly interesting: as well as a Romanesque bell tower, it has a fresco of the Last Supper, painted in 1550. The work is a copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s badly damaged masterpiece in Milan and, as such, is of great value to art historians. 44

Es ist an dieser Stelle kaum möglich, alle Verknüpfungspunkte unter den einzelnen Künstlern zu vermitteln oder gar einen chronologischen Ablauf zu rekonstruieren. Weshalb wir in diesem Kapitel nur einige der wichtigsten Kunstwerke aufführen und im übrigen auf die spezifischen Kapitel hinweisen. Es muss auch erwähnt werden, dass viele der bekanntesten Werke von Tessiner Künstlern nicht im Tessin, sondern in den großen Metropolen Europas stehen, in Rom und Venedig, in Wien und Paris, in Warschau, in St. Petersburg, in Moskau und in anderen Städten des Kontinents. Die Tiefverwurzelte religiöse Tradition hat dazu geführt, dass ein großer Teil der Kunstwerke, vor allem bildhauerischer und architektonischer Natur, mit Kirchen und anderen religiöse Werken im Zusammenhang stehen. In Lugano lohnt sich ein Besuch der Kathedrale San Lorenzo mit ihrer prächtigen Renaissance-Fassade; die Kirche liegt auf einem römischen Fundament und beherbergt eine Reihe von Fresken aus dem 14.Jahrundert an der westlichen Wand und aus dem 14. bis 18. Jahrhundert an den Säulen des Kirchenschiffs. In einer Seitenkapelle befindet sich eine Altartafel von G.B Car-

loni aus dem Jahre 1632. An der Seepromenade steht die Kirche Santa Maria degli Angioli, die früher zu einem 1490 gegründeten Franziskanerkloster gehörte, das 1848 aufgehoben wurde. Noch vor dem Jahr 1000 wurde die Kirche San Vitale in Riva San Vitale erbaut, ein Dorf, das vor allem durch sein Baptisterium bekannt wurde. Es gilt als ältester Sakralbau der Schweiz und wurde vermutlich um das Jahr 500 erbaut. Beim Baptisterium von Riva San Vitale handelt es sich um einen Zentralbau in kubischer Konstruktion, auf den ein Oktogon aufgesetzt wurde. Wertvolle spätgotische Fresken finden sich in der Capella S. Antonio Abate in Morcote, und interessant ist auch die S. Ambrogio gewidmete mittelalterliche Kirche mit romanischem Turm in Ponte Capriasca. Sie beherbergt ein Abendmahl-Fresko mit grossem dokumentarischem Wert, da es sich um eine zeitgenössische Kopie des Meisterwerks von Leonardo da Vinci handelt.

Con pochi passi ci si trasferisce da un luogo all’altro, ci si può recare in montagna, sulla possente Jungfrau o sul maestoso Cervino. Riprodotti in scala 1:25, ecco i mezzi di trasporto con i quali gli svizzeri si sono ingegnati a collegare perfino zone montagnose si difficile accesso: ferrovie federali e private, cremagliere, funivie. Ecco i modellini di treni, battelli e impianti di risalita regolarmente in movimento: un divertimento per i modellisti ma anche per i bambini. Wie der Name sagt, versammelt die Swissminiatur in verkleinertem Maßstab und auf einer Fläche von 14’000 Quadratenmetern am Seeufer das Schönste und Interessanteste, was es im Land zu sehen gibt. Ein Besuch in diesem kleinen, immer auf dem aktuellsten Stand gehaltenen Wunderwerk erlaubt es, sich ein Bild von der Schweiz zu machen, von ihren majestätischen Bergen, ihren sanften Seen, den eleganten Städten und malerischen Dörfer, von berühmten Strassen und Plätzen, Schlössern und Kirchen - alles ist da und mit einem einzigen Blick zu überschauen. Es bleibt nur noch die Wahl der schönsten Ziele, um sie später zu

erleben - in ihrer wirklichen Dimension. Wer eine besondere Vorliebe für Schlösser hat, kann in der Swissminiatur einen Rundgang machen, der vom Schloss Chillon am Genfersee über Grandson, Frauenfeld und Thun bis nach Bellinzona führt. Wer lieber städtische Sehenswürdigkeiten erleben will, hat die Qual der Wahl zwischen der historischen Kappellbrücke in Luzern, der Kathedrale von Lausanne, der Stadthalle von Zürich oder dem Bundeshaus in Bern. Eine besondere Attraktion bildet das berühmte Zelt des Architekten Mario Botta, das dieser für das 700-Jahr-Jubiläum der schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft gebaut hat. In wenigen Schritten gelangt man von einem Ort zum nächsten, auf das majestätische Jungfraujoch oder das weltberühmte Matterhorn. In proportionaler Größe finden sich auch die Transportmittel, die von erfinderischen Schweizern gebaut wurden, um auch schwerstzugängliche Berggegenden zu erreichen: die schweizerischen Bundesbahnen, Privatbahnen, Draht- und Luftseilbahnen. Hier fahren sie, die Modelleisenbahnen, die –schiffe und –Bergbahnen – ein großes Vergnügen sowohl für Modellbauer als auch für Kinder. Letztere können in einer Minieisenbahn durch diese verkleinerte Traumlandschaft fahren. Swissminiatur bietet eine imaginäre Reise durch die ganze Schweiz, bevor man sie in Wirklichkeit unternimmt. Zur Verfügung steht auch eine illustrierte Broschüre, reich an Bildern und Informationen, die es erlaubt, sich in dieser Kleinstwelt zurechtzufinden wie in der wirklichen Schweiz. Die Swissminiatur ist von Mitte März bis Ende Oktober/Anfang November geöffnet. Im Juli und August ist der Besuch auch abends bei künstlicher Beleuchtung möglich. Ein zweiter Besuch an einem milden Sommerabend entpuppt sich als zusätzliches Vergnügen. Von der Swissminiatur führt übrigens auch ein Spazierweg dem Strand entlang über den Damm von Melide nach Bissone, das man nach einer halben Stunde erreicht.

Ponte Tresa - La Nostra Storia

La storia del nostro villaggio ha origini assai più remote, ma in base a documentazioni di carattere ufficiale riteniamo opportuno iniziare con una citazione di Gregorio da Tours tratta dal libro “Storia dei Franchi” scritta nel 594, in cui lo stesso parla di una colonna di soldati merovingi in lotta contro i longobardi “ove esiste uno stagno, che chiamano Ceresio, dal quale esce un piccolo ma profondo fiume”. Un dato sicuramente attendibile per dimostrare l’esistenza di una comunità nella nostra zona c’è fornito da un certo “Vuarino” che si definisce “de vico Ponte Tresa” in un documento vidimato a Lugano nell’875 dal notaio Gundovaldo di Agno. Al Ponte giungeva dalle zone italiane la famosa “strada regina”, diretta a Bellinzona. Questa via è percorsa nel 1186 dall’imperatore Federico Barbarossa proveniente dalla Lombardia e diretto in val di Blenio. Sul Ponte della Tresa transitano eserciti ducali dei Visconti e degli Sforza: i primi vincitori ad Arbedo nel 1422, gli Sforza sconfitti a Giornico nel 1478. Nel 1499 trecento guasconi capitanati da Francesco Triulzio passarono la Tresa per occupare in nome del re di Francia Luigi XII il castello di Lugano, fatto costruire da Ludovico il Moro nel 1498. A cavallo del primo e secondo decennio del 1500 da ponte Tresa passa gran parte delle milizie svizzere impegnate nelle campagne d’Italia e culminanti con la sconfitta di Marignano che, come noto, determinò un radicale mutamento della politica dei cantoni confederati. Nel 1518 si riuniscono a Ponte Tresa i delegati svizzeri e francesi per l’esecuzione di un articolo della pace perpetua di Friborgo del 1516. Nel periodo di sudditanza ai 12 cantoni (1512/1798) il villaggio di Ponte Tresa è, se non il più importante, uno dei maggiori posti di transito delle merci che la Confederazione manda al sud e viceversa. Un fatto curioso, ma che avvalora l’importanza di Ponte Tresa in questo periodo è dato dal modo in cui sulla bella carta (Landvogtien Lugano ind Mendris) realizzata da Conrad Finzler nel 1786, ponte Tresa è indicato nello stesso ordine di importanza di Chiasso, quasi come Mendrisio!
