Cjay Shot Dat was created as a platform to merge passion with purpose offering creative services that elevate brands, preserve moments, and tell meaningful stories.

Daniel’s mission is simple: to create visuals that connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impression.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project is a 60-second audio advertisement developed for my creative brand, Cjay Shot Dat, as part of the CAT1005 Mini Multimedia Project. The advertisement promotes photography and graphic design services while establishing a strong and professional brand identity.

The purpose of this project is to demonstrate how audio can effectively communicate a visual brand. Although photography and graphic design are visual mediums, this advertisement uses voice, tone, pacing, and background music to create a mental image of quality, creativity, and professionalism. The ad highlights services such as portrait photography, event coverage, logo design, and promotional graphics.

The target audience includes young entrepreneurs, creatives, students, artists, and small business owners who require strong visual branding and professional imagery. The advertisement is designed to appeal to individuals who are building their personal or business brands and need impactful visuals to compete in digital spaces.

The creative direction focuses on clarity, confidence, and inspiration. The tone is professional yet engaging, supported by cinematic background music to create a modern and polished feel. The script structure includes a strong opening hook, clear presentation of services, value-driven messaging, and a memorable closing tagline.

This project demonstrates my understanding of the design process by moving from research and brainstorming to scripting, concept development, and final production. It reflects my ability to integrate branding, storytelling, and multimedia communication into a cohesive promotional piece.

research

Before developing the advertisement, research was conducted on audio advertising techniques and creative branding strategies. I examined how 60-second audio ads are structured, particularly focusing on:

• Strong opening hooks

• Clear value propositions

• Emotional appeal

• Brand positioning

• Memorable taglines

Ialso analyzed local and international creative service promotions to understand how photography and graphic design brands communicate professionalism and creativity through tone and pacing. Research showed that effective audio ads use descriptive language to create “visual imagery” in the listener’s mind, especially when promoting visual services.

Additionally, I researched my target audience young entrepreneurs, artists, and students and identified that they respond best to confident messaging, modern sound design, and inspirational tone. This influenced the final direction of the advertisement.

brainstorming

During brainstorming, I explored multiple directions for the advertisement:

Idea 1: High-energy, hype-style ad with fast-paced music

Idea 2: Calm, cinematic, professional tone

Idea 3: Youth-focused Jamaican creative vibe

I created a word bank including: Create. Capture. Elevate. Vision. Impact. Bold. Identity. Professional. Culture.

I also sketched out possible taglines such as:

“Your Vision, Our Lens.”
“Design That Speaks.”
“We Don’t Just Shoot, We Create.”

After reviewing the ideas, I selected a cinematic, confident approach because it best represents professionalism while still appealing to young creatives.

concept & treatment

Concept

The concept of this advertisement is to promote Cjay Shot Dat as a modern, professional creative brand that specializes in photography and graphic design services. The ad positions the brand as a solution for individuals and businesses seeking strong visual identity and impactful content.

The core message is that visuals matter, and professional creative services can elevate a brand’s presence.

Treatment

The advertisement opens with a reflective and attention-grabbing line: “Every moment tells a story. Every brand needs a vision.”

A smooth cinematic instrumental plays in the background to establish a premium tone. The voiceover is confident, clear, and professionally paced. The middle section outlines the services offered (portrait photography, event coverage, logo design, promotional graphics), emphasizing value and impact.

The advertisement concludes with a strong call to action and a memorable tagline: “Cjay Shot Dat, We don’t just shoot… we create.”

The final duration is approximately 60 seconds, maintaining clarity and engagement throughout.

Production Process

The production phase of this project involved voice generation, audio editing, and final sound refinement to create a polished 60-second advertisement.

To produce a professional and clear voiceover, I used ElevenLabs. Instead of recording my own voice, I generated an AI voice that matched the tone and delivery style I envisioned for the advertisement. The selected voice was confident, smooth, and professional to align with the brand identity of Cjay Shot Dat.

After finalizing the script, I adjusted pacing and tone within ElevenLabs to ensure clarity, proper emphasis on key phrases, and natural flow. The generated audio file was then exported in high-quality format for editing.

For the editing process, I used BandLab. The voiceover file was imported into BandLab, where I added a cinematic instrumental background track to enhance the mood and emotional appeal of the advertisement.

Balanced the voice and background music levels

Adjusted volume automation for clarity

Trimmed pauses to maintain a 60-second duration

Applied light equalization and compression for a cleaner sound

Care was taken to ensure the background music did not overpower the voiceover, maintaining clarity and professionalism throughout the advertisement.

After reviewing the mix for consistency and timing, the final advertisement was exported as a high-quality audio file. The completed version maintains a smooth introduction, engaging middle section, and strong branded ending, delivering a polished and cohesive promotional piece.

REFLECTION

This project allowed me to explore how audio can effectively promote a visually based brand. One challenge I faced was translating photography and graphic design which are visual mediums into a compelling audio experience. I overcame this by using descriptive language and strong tonal direction to create mental imagery for the listener.

Another challenge was balancing professionalism with creativity. I ensured the tone was confident and polished while still appealing to young entrepreneurs and creatives.

Overall, this project strengthened my understanding of branding, storytelling, and multimedia production. It demonstrated how strategic planning, research, and structured development contribute to an effective final product. The process also improved my scripting and conceptual thinking skills.
