“I DON’T THINK ARCHITECTURE IS ONLY ABOUT SHELTER, IS ONLY ABOUT A VERY SIMPLE ENCLOSURE. IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXITE YOU, TO CALM YOU, TO MAKE YOU THINK.”

TMBR (timber) supportive housing aims to provide 24 affordable housing units in a developing Dallas area. The name come from the mass timber strucuture it consists of, giving a warm inviting feeling to the units and buidling program. The program revolves around a C-shaped building that consists of housing units on the top floors and a public program on the ground floor. This was a group project that invoved two sites and two seperate buildings to be connected through a shared pathway. To give the residents a sense of community, an internal courtayard that is open to the adjecent park is provided for vegetable growing and community gatherings.

The second step was to asses the setbacks and establish the parking lot as it takes up a big part of the site itself.

This infill housing project is meant to provide residency to an area that is low-income, low-density but is its location to Downtown OKC makes it favorable for communting and work. My design proposes modular-shaped units in order to keep rent costs the same while still keeping a couple of more units in the semi-luxurious feeling for those who can afford it. It provides both private and public spaces to the residents and to passerbyers. One challege was trying to accomadate a 16 feet slope changing from the street to the back alley. This was ammediated through the use of a hardscaped area that includes planters for sitting, stairs, and ramps.

This boathouse serves as a way to mediate the changing elevation from the street to the shore. One big challenge for this studio was contour regrading. Through the use of cut and fill as well as swales, I was able to situate the building pad while draining water away from the building. The program provides access for all people through the use of ramps, transparent circulation, and boat drop off area for easy access to the lake. This simple enclosure acts as a tranparent storage that encloses the boats that can then be rented and used at the lake. Curtain walls allow for a 360 view of the surrounding park while still providing shelter from the elements.

This urban farming center, is located in a commercially busy area of downtown Norman. It has commerce and restaurants that attract a lot of Norman residents during the weekdays and weekends. With this in mind, Green Growth is commited to providing local growth food that is housed in a sustainable environment, where people can enjoy and learn about hydroponics.
Thank you.
