The CZECH REPUBLIC – A PARADISE FOR EVERY TRAVELLER


PRAGUE Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the 15th largest city in the European Union. Prague is situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava river. The city is home to about 1,26 million people. Prague has been a political, cultural, and economic centre of central Europe with waxing and waning fortunes during its history. Founded during the Romanesque and flourishing by the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras. Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th century Europe. Main attractions include the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Petřín hill and Vyšehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO. The city boasts more than ten major museums, along with numerous theatres (the best-known is The National Theatre), galleries, cinemas, and other historical exhibits. An extensive modern public transportation system connects the city. Also, it is home to a wide range of public and private schools, including Charles University in Prague, the oldest university in Central Europe. Prague is the fifth most visited European city after London, Paris, Istanbul and Rome. The legend: Prague was founded by Czech princess Libuše and his husband Přemysl in 8 th century. Libuše prophesied: “I see a great city whose glory will touch the stars.” On the site she ordered to build a castle and a town called Prague.

PRAGUE CASTLE Prague Castle is a castle complex in Prague, Czech Republic, dating from the 9th century. It is the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic. The castle was a seat of power for kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and presidents of Czechoslovakia. The Bohemian Crown Jewels are kept within a hidden room inside it. Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world and is among the most visited tourist attractions in Prague. Prague Castle includes Old Royal Palace, St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George's Basilica, Spanish Hall, Vladislav Hall, Golden Lane, Royal Garden, etc.


ST. VITUS CATHEDRAL Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral is a Roman Catholic metropolitan cathedral. It is the biggest and most important church in the country. Located within Prague Castle and containing the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors.

THE CHARLES BRIDGE The Charles Bridge is the oldest bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague and the second oldest in the Czech Republic. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the beginning of the 15th century. The bridge is 621 metres long and nearly 10 metres wide. The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, most of them baroque-style, originally erected around 1700.

THE OLD TOWN SQUARE Old Town Square is a historic square in the Old Town quarter of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. It is located between Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge. The square features various architectural styles including the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn. At Christmas and Easter, markets are held on the square, they resemble medieval markets. In the square there are Old Town Hall, St Nicholas Church, National Gallery, Palace of Kinsky, Prague astronomical clock.


WENCESLAS SQUARE Wenceslas Square is one of the main city squares and the centre of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague, Czech Republic. Less a square than a boulevard, Wenceslas Square has the shape of a very long (750 m, total area 45,000 m2) rectangle, in a northwest–southeast direction. In Wenceslas Square there is National museum, statue of St. Wenceslas.

PETŘÍN Petřín (327 m) is a hill in the center of Prague, Czech Republic. The Petřín Lookout Tower, which strongly resembles the Eiffel Tower, was built atop a hill in 1891. Since ancient times there was digged stones, from which Prague has built a lot of buildings.

VYŠEHRAD Vyšehrad (Czech for "upper castle") is a historical fort located in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. It was built, probably in the 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Situated within the castle is the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, as well as the Vyšehrad Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous people from Czech history.


WHAT CAN YOU DO IN PRAGUE? You can invite lots of interesting and amazing places. You can see many sightseeing. You can know something about Czech Republic in museum or gallery. You can visit a most of theatres and cinemas. In winter you can visit famous Christmas markets. In summer you can come to the concerts. When you are hungry you can go to the restaurants or pubs. In Prague there is lot of parks.


KUTNÁ HORA - UNESCO Kutná Hora is one of the most historian cities in the Czech Republic. There is Temple of St. Barbara which was written on the list of UNESCO in 1995. It is 40 meters long and it was built for 20years (1280-1320). It was built on a hill so there is an amazing view on the city Kutná Hora. A lot of people love this place. The interest of all is, in Kutná Hora there was silver. And in 13th century there were made coins, which was paid in the all Czech kingdom.

ČESKÝ KRUMLOV - UNESCO Czech Krumlov is a small city in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic where Czech Krumlov Castle is located. On the World Heritage List by UNESCO was written in 1922.

Czech Krumlov is important Czech cultural center. There are organized a lot of cultural events. One of the most important are theater, gallery and museum. Czech Krumlov visits about one million tourists a year.


THE CAVES AND THE CHAMS IN THE CZECH

CAVES The caves are predominantly in the territory of Moravia. Altogether there are over 2,000 in the Czech Republic, but all aren‘t made available to the public. The most famous are the Punkva caves. Their tour is 1.2 km long, includes a boat ride on the underground river Punkva and the subsequent visit of the abyss.

CHAMS In the Czech Republic there are two famous Abyss, Macocha and Abyss HranickĂĄ.

Macocha is associated with caves. Its depth is more than 138.5 m deep. At the bottom is a lake that is at least 50 meters deep.


Hranickรก propast is the deepest in the Czech Republic. Dry part measures 69.5 meters, located on the bottom of the lake. Its overall depth is not yet known, last measured value is -404 m (from 2016).


HOLAŠOVICE - UNESCO Holašovice is a small historic village located in the south of the Czech Republic, 15 kilometres west of České Budějovice. This village was first mentioned in 1263. This village is renowned throughout the Czech Republic, because buildings here are constructed in the South Bohemian Folk Baroque style and are unique. Thats why is this village is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Now this village is normally populated and every year there is Old Bohemian market for a week. There is a picture of square of Holašovice.


LIPNO UPON VLTAVA IN WINTER Lipno is favourite destination at South Bohemia. There are some places for skiing and enjoying fun with family and friends. For example - 11 kilometers downhills, snowpark, skicross track and other. There are 3 comfortable seats which are using by everyone people every day, because this seats served as transport from the bottom up. In the area is free parking. Opening hours for day skiing are from 8:30 to 16:00. After this is a break for preparing night skiing which is only on the longest downhill named JezernĂ­ and start at 18:00 and ends at 21:00. One of disadvantages is very expensive ticket for Czech people. After 6 years will be possibility skating on the lake only if the lake will be frozen and safe for users. Optimal strength for using is 18 centimeters. Distance of this track is more than 10 kilometers long. For people from abroad is one of the main reason what they visit this city.


IN SUMMER

Summer in the Lipno Region means water, sun, ice cream, swimming and many other activities that are available at the recreation centres: hiking, biking, yachting, scuba diving, windsurfing, horse riding, Nordic walking, golf, wellness, boating on the lake or the Vltava, mushroom picking or fishing. It is possible to end the day traditionally by a bonfire with a guitar, by visiting some of the open-air movie theatres or dance clubs and discotheques, or by having a nice time in a comfortable restaurant.

WALKWAY (STEZKA KORUNAMI STROMŮ) Interactive didactic stops and one of the longest dry toboggans in the Czech Republic. Amazing view of the Lipno lake, Šumava nature, Novohradské mountains and peaks of the Austrian Alps. All this will be your reward for climbing the 675 meters long walkway up to 40 metres.
