DANIEL GRIESE SECOND YEAR

My name is Daniel Griese. I am a second year architecture student at Drury University.

I began my secondary education at Missouri S&T where I studied Mechanical Engineering. After discovering that engineering was not as creative and problem solving oriented as I had hoped I left S&T for a couple years of exploration at St. Charles Community College, there I earned my associates of arts and science. During that time I was able to take a multitude of classes eventually discovering my love for architecture and design. I then transferred to Mizzou where I spent a year in their architecture program. In that year I fostered a deeper appreciation for the art of architecture and decided to attend a licensed and more developed institution. I then transferred to Drury where I have spent the last year improving my skills and increasing my knowledge.

EV CHARGING STATION BANGOR, MAINE

As we shift from gasoline to electric vehicles we are left with a strange one to two hour gap where we are forced to remain with our cars while they charge. This is made worse during road trips when convenient charging is not available. This program aims to solve that problem by providing food options, leisure spaces, active spaces, and a convenience store to assist you on your journey. Its form is influenced by the nearby Appalachian mountains while its facade is reflective of Maine’s coniferous forests.

SPRINGFIELD SUSTAINABILITY CENTER

This project is meant to invoke curiosity and inspire ecological change for the community of Springfield, Missouri. The organic form is indicative of nature while the glass facade invites the community into the building. The program features large multipurpose spaces for exhibitions, lectures, and events as well as a permanent exhibition space and administrative offices.
