ONT HISTORY Futura is a sans-serif typeface designed by the German typographer Paul Renner, and released in 1927, as a contribution to the New Frankfurt project. It is a high-quality font that is almost as popular as Helvetica typeface. The design of this typeface is based on simple geometric shapes, triangles, squares and particularly the circle and was based on the Bauhaus style. The stroke weight is nearly even throughout, except for some specific letters like the lowercase “a”. The lowercase has tall ascenders, which rise above the cap line, and uses nearly-circular forms for the “a” and “g”. Futura is characterized from its long ascenders in which these elements give it its stylish elegance and make it unique from other geometric san-serifs fonts. Futura has a modern and clean design in which takes away the decorative elements, and this makes it more usable by people especially graphic designers. It can be used as a display and paragraph font which works well in both print and digital texts, longform and for headlines. Futura is also commonly used for logos, album covers, film posters, magazines, automotive advertising ,the Olympic Games and it can be seen in covers of books in historic projects.
