Season Highlights From September 2011 to August 2012, Dance Place • Attracted 40,000 visitors and participants to our campus and reached 16,000 audiences and students off-site throughout the DC Metropolitan area • Partnered with 60 schools, non-profits and arts organizations with OutReach classes and performances, co-presentations at other theaters and artist commissions • Publicly launched our multi-year $5 million Capital Campaign, “Moving Forward” • Was awarded a $75,000 grant from the DC Office of Planning and ArtPlace to operate the Artland Brookland Temporium, a robust 13-week initiative with free arts exhibitions, performances, workshops and community discussions in venues throughout our neighborhood during Summer 2012 • Hosted the launch of DanceMotion USA, an international tour of dance sponsored by the US Department of State and produced by the Brooklyn Academy of Music • Expanded our Energizers Junior Staff program, through a major grant from the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation, to serve local teenagers 3 days a week with intensive arts integration workshops, life skills, mentoring and first-time employment • Was selected as “one of the best small nonprofits in the Washington, DC region” by the 2012-2013 Catalogue for Philanthropy • Received national funding from the National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” program to support the development of the 8th Street Arts Plaza and expanded community programming as part of our capital campaign Program Enhancement Fund

Dance Place’s Artland Brookland Temporium project served over

1,500 visitors and 260 visual artists, performers, poets and musicians with free cultural activities throughout Brookland, June-August 2012.
