The original proposal for a development in Gisborne was rejected by the residents and local reporters. The prompted redesign took on a more Australian character addressed through the use of metal cladding, brick and wooden posts. The skillion roofs provided a perceived height reduction and vertical elements grounded the form allowing vegetated element to be incorporated.
