of them, but I don't think we needed to register for as many as we did, because they add up. They take up so much space.
I love your map in the dining room.
How would you describe your style together in your home?
C: You can scratch off places you’ve been on the map once you go to them to show where all you’ve been.
K: I don’t think I necessarily have a style, but I think if it’s quirky and it makes me happy, we kind of have to get it. Like our animal plates Craig got me when I thought he was going to propose… [laughs] What are other quirky items are your favorites? C: Ooh, like the ginseng plant that we got at Ikea. When we spotted it, we realized it looked like a person. K: We laughed so hard! I think the whole way home from Minneapolis we would look at it and just start laughing. So I think if it puts a smile on our face, that’s our style.
K: Yeah, that was a bachelorette gift, and then we got the corkboard and frame at Hobby Lobby.
Do you travel often? K: We like "mini-cations," as we call them. We’ll take off for Minneapolis , Omaha, Des Moines… Or big vacations, too. I actually asked Craig to go to Jamaica after five days of dating. Really? Oh my gosh! K: [Laughs] Yeah, we went on the trip about six months into our relationship to Montego Bay. It was definitely a learning experience to travel together for the first time. So things moved pretty fast.
Is there a particular item that's special in your home?
K: Yes. Clearly not fast enough, because I was hoping for a ring before that.
C: The flowers from our first date. She knew enough to save them.
Do you have different ways of communicating?
K: Oh, yeah! The flowers from our first date! I saved them and felt so creepy. We have a date box, too. Last year for Christmas I got him 12 dates, so every month we open one and it has ideas like going to a movie, stargazing, and a dart night at a bar.
K: We’re definitely different. I talk and won’t stop talking, and then he doesn’t start talking, so it’s just me go-go-go until I’m like, "Why aren’t you saying anything?!" C: I need time to process it and think about what I need or want to say and convey.
