Evolution Of The iPhones: A Brief Look At History

Apple CEO Steve Jobs revealed the first iPhone on Jan. 9, 2007, after months of speculations and conjecture. The gadget, which didn’t go on sale until June, cost $499 for a 4GB model and $599 for an 8GB one (with a two year contract). In this article, we’ll discuss the evolution of the iPhones and their history. It had a 3.5inch screen, and a 2 megapixel camera, and was praised for its multitouch capabilities at the time. Critics, on the other hand, said that the phone was too pricey to succeed in the market.

Here we’ll discuss the evolution of the iPhones over time;

1. iPhone 3GS

On June 9, 2008, a year after the original iPhone was released, Apple released the iPhone 3G, its successor. The updated model was quicker on 3G networks, had

built-in GPS, had more capacity, and was less expensive. The iPhone 3G was released on July 11 for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model, and it had a feature called location services. “Location services is going to be a huge deal on the iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, the company’s CEO. “It’s going to blow up.”.

2. iPhone 4

On June 7, 2010, Apple released the revamped iPhone 4 along with the newly called iOS 4, which included FaceTime video chat. The prices for the 16GB and 32GB models stayed the same: $199 for the 16GB and $299 for the 32 GB. It was released on June 24 and marked the introduction of the first high-resolution “Retina” display. “You can’t go back after you’ve used a Retina Display,” Steve Jobs declared. This is the best thing about the evolution of the iPhones.

3. iPhone 5

On September 12, 2012, the iPhone 5, the first with a 4 inch screen, was released, with CEO Tim Cook touting the quicker, thinner update to the iPhone 4S during a

90-minute presentation in San Francisco. “This is the biggest event to happen to iPhone since the [first] iPhone,” he remarked, alluding to Steve Jobs’ 2007 unveiling of the first-generation smartphone. The iPhone 5 was released on September 21st, with pricing for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants remaining constant.

4. iPhone 5S and 5C

Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled not one, but two iPhones on Sept. 10: the upmarket iPhone 5S (now available in gold in addition to white and black) and the colorful, less expensive iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S gained a speedier, 64 bit A7 SoC (system on a chip), Touch ID, and a new motion data processor billed as the cornerstone for a new generation of health and fitness apps. (The iPhone 5C was just a reskinned iPhone 5.) The iPhone 5C cost $99 for 16GB of storage, whereas the iPhone 5S cost $199 for the same amount of storage. Both were released on September 20th.

5. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

Apple revealed two iPhones for the second year in a row: the iPhone 6, which has a 4.7 inch screen, and the iPhone 6 Plus, which has a 5.5 inch screen. The A8 CPUs in both iPhones are speedier and more efficient than those in last year’s models. Both feature updated cameras and are NFC ready for use with Apple Pay, which will be available in October. The iPhone 6 is the same price as the iPhone 5S from 2013, however, the Plus variant is $100 extra. This is the popular thing about the evolution of the iPhones.

6. iPhone 6S and 6S Plus

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are significant advancements over the 2014 devices they’re built on. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus include 3D Touch, a new force touch technology, and a 12 megapixel iSight camera that can record 4K video. (Another

new feature is the 5-megapixel FaceTime camera, which is supposed to snap better selfies.) Both phones have a speedier A9 processor and a new color for 2015.

7. iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

With three key exceptions, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus resembles the 2015 models: In the 7S, Apple removed the headphone jack, replaced the home button with a haptic-based virtual button, and added a dual-camera arrangement.

Users will have to rely on Apple’s provided earbuds or use their old headphones with the accompanying adapter due to the elimination of the audio jack, which is a contentious decision. Both phones have a quad-core A10 Fusion processor and are available in two new colors: Black (a matte finish charcoal hue) and Jet Black (a super-shiny black).

8. iPhone 8/8 Plus

On September 12, 2017, Apple unveiled the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which feature a new glass and aluminum casing, Retina HD display, A11 Bionic Chip, and wireless charging. The front and back glass enclosures, which Apple claims is the most durable glass ever used in a smartphone, are similar to the iPhone 4 and 4s in design. True Tone technology changes the display’s white balance to match the ambient light. The new stereo speakers are 25% louder and provide a deeper bass response. This is the amazing thing about the evolution of the iPhones.

The A11 Bionic processor is described by Apple as “the most powerful and intelligent chip ever in a smartphone.” It has a six core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, which are 25% and 70% faster, respectively, than the A10 Fusion chip. The latest iPhones include an Apple designed GPU that can produce up to 30% quicker graphics than the iPhone 7 from 2016. Each model has a 12-megapixel camera with a bigger (and quicker) sensor, a new color filter, deeper pixels, and 4K video at 60 frames per second and 1080p slo mo at 240 frames per second.

With ARKit on iOS 11, developers can create AR games and apps that are both immersive and fluid. Space gray, silver, and a new type of gold are among the color options. This is the amazing thing about the evolution of the iPhones. Pre orders commence on September 15 and in store sales begin on September 22.

9. iPhone X

Apple finished its September presentation with “one more thing,” the iPhone X (“ten”), to mark a decade of iPhones. It is Apple’s most costly iPhone to date, starting at $999 for 64GB and $1,149 for 256 GB. Wireless charging, two cameras, and a new glass and stainless steel shell are all included. Its main feature is an edge to edge “Super Retina display,” a 5.8 inch OLED display with Dolby Vision

and HDR 10 compatibility. It boasts a pixel resolution of 458ppi, a contrast ratio of 1 million to 1, and True Tone.

Touch ID and the Home button have been replaced with a new biometric security system known as Face ID. Face ID is powered by a TrueDepth camera system that includes a dot projector, infrared camera, and flood illuminator. The A11 Bionic processor, in conjunction with enhanced depth sensing technology, maps and recognizes a user’s face in order to safely unlock the iPhone or complete an Apple Pay transaction.

Face ID is meant to prevent spoofing by images and masks and only works when a user stares at the iPhone X directly. The TrueDepth camera can also animate emoticons, dubbed Animoji by Apple. Face ID is enabled with a 7 megapixel TrueDepth front facing camera with auto image stabilization and Portrait mode for enhanced selfies with a depth of field effect. This is the amazing thing about the evolution of the iPhones.

The dual 12 megapixel back camera has dual optical image stabilization and a telephoto lens with an enhanced f/2.4 aperture. The new A11 Bionic brain engine, according to Apple, can conduct 600 billion operations per second and is intended for specialized machine learning algorithms, allowing Face ID, Animoji, and other capabilities. Silver and space gray are two of the available colors. The iPhone X will be released on November 3 after pre orders begin on October 27.

10. iPhone 11

The iPhone 11, which replaces the iPhone XR from 2018, has a $50 price decrease (to $699), a new color (purple), a revised two camera system, and a slew of under the hood technical improvements. The phone features a 6.1 inch Liquid Retina HD display, 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage, and Apple’s new A13 “Bionic” chipset. A new ultra wide camera catches more than four times the scenery and

shoots 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second as part of the camera system. This is the amazing thing about the evolution of the iPhones. It also has audio zoom, which means that when you zoom in on video, the audio zooms in as well. The front facing camera has been upgraded to a 12 megapixel type that supports slow motion selfies, called “selfies” by Apple. A new “night mode” has been added to the camera system to improve photos in low light situations. In comparison to the 2018 models, Apple claims that the A13 bionic chip provides an extra hour of use. Pre orders will begin on September 13 and the phones will be available in retailers on September 20.

11. iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 succeeds the iPhone 11 as Apple expands its OLED display lineup throughout its smartphone lineup and introduces a 5.4 inch iPhone mini (on sale in November). The iPhone 12 small starts at $699 ($100 more for the bigger iPhone 12), with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of storage options. The new Super Retina XDR screens use Apple’s “Ceramic Shield” technology, which makes them four times more resistant to shattering if dropped. The A14 Bionic processor is found in

every iPhone 12 model, and it supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G networks. This is the amazing thing about the evolution of the iPhones.

Both versions have a dual 12 megapixel camera system with Ultra Wide and Wide sensors, as well as Night Mode for excellent photographs in low light. 4K video may be recorded at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps, while HDR video with Dolby Vision can be recorded at up to 30 fps. The iPhone 12 will be available for pre order on Oct. 16, with the phones arriving in stores on Oct. 23. The iPhone 12 small will be available to purchase starting November 6 and will be delivered a week later.

12. iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 and 13 pro are small carry-on from last year’s models, with the same form factor and pricing range, a new chipset, and improved battery life. Prices for the small start at $699 ($100 more for the bigger iPhone 13), with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB (up from 64GB last year). Both variants have Apple’s Super Retina XDR screens and are powered by the latest A15 Bionic processor. This is the amazing thing about the evolution of the iPhones.

Both include a 12MP dual camera system with Ultra Wide and Wide cameras, sensor-shift optical image stabilization for crisper shots, and video in “cinematic mode.” 4K video may be recorded at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps, while HDR video can be recorded at up to 60 fps with Dolby Vision. The iPhone 13 has a bigger battery that gives it up to 2.5 hours of additional battery life (1.5 hours more in the mini). Pre-orders for the iPhone 13 began on September 17, and the phones went on sale on September 24.
