The retired teachers limit the class to 13 each in both sessions. On the first day, children were working on oil pastels on black paper. “Over the next two days they will build a picture using different shapes of recycled paper,” added Smillie. Started in 2006, the art camp covers primary and secondary colors along with the different shapes. Youngsters also learn the fundamental concepts in mixing and using color in drawing and painting activities. “We teach them to use their imagination and how to see things,” said Smillie. Art produced during the camp will be featured in an exhibit at the 507 Cruise Street gallery from July 28 to Aug. 10, and the participating

Majors. City voters brought back liquor to Corinth for
the first time since 1989 in overwhelming fashion. Over 2,500 citizens voted for liquor’s return in December of last year. “There are certainly pros and cons to this decision,” said Arena General Manager Tammy Genovese. “In my research our venue competition has their licenses and this move will continue to allow us to compete for
bigger events and private parties … it will also allow us another revenue source to assist in our efforts to increase our bottom line.” Beer has been available at arena events since it opened at venues which requested it. In other board business: • Tull was selected vice chairman of the board.
The board had been without a vice chairman since the resignation of Alva Dalton in March. • The board has decided to do more research on an exhaust system after discussion with some members of the Board of Supervisors. “It’s on hold, but I think we will be revisiting it again,” added Kay. • The seven-person
board learned they will receive a check of $25,277.73 from Travelers Casualty and Surety Company to replace missing funds detected by the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office in Oct. of 2011. A total of $34,678.29 was scheduled to be headed back to the Arena, but the auditor’s office charge – just over $9,400 – dropped the amount.
The Daily Corinthian Pet of the Week is Roy Rodgers, a male healer mix with a Hollywood face. He is around 1 year old. Roy is a very easy going dog in need of a good home and would make a great pet for that ranch or farm. Contact the Corinth Alcorn Animal Shelter for information on any of the adoptable pets.
