Deaths Cullen B. ‘Len’ Curlee III

Following an extended illness, Cullen B. “Len” Curlee III succumbed to Huntington’s disease at his home, Monday, October 14, 2013. Born in Corinth to Cullen B. Curlee Jr. and Doris Curlee, June 9, 1944, Len grew up in Rienzi and graduated as salutatorian from Rienzi High School and attended Northeast Community College on basketball and baseball scholarships. During his junior year of college, he joined the United States Air Force where he served on SAC bases for four years. During that time, he received the “Marksmanship” award and was selected “Outstanding Airman.” After basic training, and an assignment to the Plattsburg, N.Y. Air Force SAC base, he married Barbara Bonds, May 28, 1966 in Burnsville. After serving his time in the Air Force, he returned to the University of Mississippi where he was a graduate assistant in the Physical Education department. Kathy Burkeens Funeral services for Kathy Tucker Burkeens are set for 1 p.m. today at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors Chapel with burial in Newcomb Cemetery. Miss Burkeens died Friday, October 11, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born December 1, 1952, to Harold and Velma Newcomb Tucker. She formally worked at Genesco Shoe Co. and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed animals and yard sales. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Tucker; brothers, Charles, Robert and Roger; grandparents, Charlie and Emma Newcomb, and Mable Eli and Mable Glidewell.

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — Funeral services for Bonnie Lou Hurley, 53, are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corinthian Funeral Home with burial in Indian Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Hurley died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at her residence. Born October 6, 1960, she was employed at Walmart in Bolivar. Survivors include a son, Rockie Hurley of Ramer,

Before his illness, Len was a member of the Rotary Club and served for many years on the Northeast Mississippi Board of Mental Health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cullen B. Curlee, Jr. and Doris McClaran Curlee; and a niece, Laura Dawn Tuckier. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bonds Curlee; daughter, Anna Katherine Curlee of Corinth; a sister and brotherin-law, Trudys and Larry Tuckier of Tuscumbia, Ala.; parentsin-law, Thomas and Wylodene Bonds of Iuka; brother-in-law, Tommy Bonds (Wanda) of Iuka; nephews, Dr. Rex Tuckier (Beth) of Moulton, Ala.; Brian Bonds (Shannon) of Iuka; Brad Bonds (Cindy) of Cairo and Brent Bonds of Batesville; great nephews and nieces, Elijah Tuckier; Connor and Caroline Bonds, and RJ Bonds. Visitation will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight.

A memorial service for William “Bill” Nunley is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

SALTILLO — Funeral services for Randy Quinn Thompson, 67, formerly of Corinth, are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with burial in Henry Cemetery. Mr. Thompson died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born August 9, 1946, he was a retired manufacturing worker in Corinth. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and after moving to Saltillo, he attended Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo. He loved his family and spending time with his grandson, Kyle. He enjoyed fishing, working on and selling cars and spending time with his family. Along with his parents, Mr. Nunley was preceded in death by two brothers, John Anthony and Vester O’Neal Nunley; and his step-father, Thomas Wroten. Survivors include his wife, Betty Nunley; one son, Ronnie Cornelius; one sister, Susan Barnett and husband Tracy; one step-daughter, Lisa Harris and husband Kenny; two grandchildren, Kirsten and Abbie Cregeen; and one great-grandchild.
