Ketchum named Rotary Club student of the month Kossuth High School has selected Andrew Zachary Ketchum as the November Rotary Student of the Month. Andrew is the 17-yearold son of Ronny and Amanda (Cutberth) Ketchum. He has no siblings, but enjoys spending time with his boxer, Caesar. He is a member of Oak Grove Independent Methodist church, where he is very active in the youth group. Andrew enjoys being with his friends, binge watching Netflix, and being outdoors. He also enjoys photography and collecting vintage cameras. He is an exceptional scholar. He has a 29 ACT

Andrew Zachary Ketchum score, a 4.0 GPA, and a number 5 class rank. He is a dual enrollment student at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Andrew loves community service and has completed over 100 hours. Andrew is the president of Future Business Leaders of America and the Student Government association. He is the National Honor Society secretary. He has held leadership positions in the sophomore class, Spanish club and math and science club in the past. Andrew is a Community Connections mentor; he meets weekly with a second grader and helps him with homework and other life skills. He is his school’s blood drive student coordinator. Andrew is a graduate of Junior Leadership Alcorn

Class of 2014. He attended the APEX Leadership Summit at Ole Miss this summer where his team received No. 1overall. Ketchum has maintained his position as an all A honor roll student throughout high school. Last year, he maintained perfect attendance throughout the year. Andrew is very involved in Future Business Leaders of America. He has been a member since the 7th grade. He has competed in the state level every year throughout high school. Last year, he won 1st place in the state for Healthcare Administration and advanced to

nationals in Chicago, Illinois. Being the president of FBLA, he enjoys learning new leadership techniques and has been to New Orleans, Louisiana and Charleston, South Carolina, attending leadership conferences. He also enjoys participating in the science fair, where he has advanced to district every year and to state once. Andrew is a shadowing student in the Magnolia Regional Health Center emergency room. His mother graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1992 with a degree in pharmacy; his father graduated from

Mississippi State in 1993 with a degree in accounting. Coming from a house divided, he sided with his mother. He has been accepted to the University of Mississippi, where he will attend in the fall. He has been invited to be a Provost Scholar. He wants to major in Nursing and become a trauma nurse. He hopes to one day reach a leadership position within the emergency room. Andrew plans to eventually pursue his Master’s in Nursing Administration. His dream is to open a day center for those with cognitive and physical impairments.
