She forgot who she was and Matale Toastmasters Club's presidency, reminded her" From joining MTC to become less socially awkward to becoming the unapologetic version of myself once again, my toastmasters journey during the last 3 years and especially the last 9 months as a president has been incredible An incredible journey that had, ups that were so good- that they reminded me of how good life is and downs, that were so stressful - that they reminded of how resilient I can be It brought back the girl I was almost a decade ago and shaped me into a better lady I will forever be grateful to this role for all that it has done to me.
Well, a president who says that she or he had an incredible tenure without a cool and hard working executive committee is lying. As for me fortunately I've got the best team I could ever get. A team with a mix of different strengths and different talents. We started the tenure strong, we became stronger with time and here we are. It's with immense pride I say this, MTC family has been growing in size and quality during this tenure. This is a testimony for what MTC has to offer to anyone who becomes a part of it. It gives you a safe space to grow, nutures you and propels you towards achieving your public speaking and leadership goals. I wouldn't be wrong if I say that it'll make you are better person holistically and that it'll offer you a support system that'll make you feel capable of achieving great things.

A zealous young crowd from the hill country, Matale Toastmasters have been a refreshing group of youngsters who have a youthful yet vibrant spirit. One of the first clubs to race to the president's distinguished status and one of the first clubs to have achieved all the educational goals in the Distinguished Club program, Matale Toastmasters Club has many firsts in my list.
I was personally taken up by the impressive show they put together at their installation ceremony, the way their entire team came together and pulled off a stunner was impressive I take this moment to wish the president of Matale TMC Zahara, VPE Ahsan, the executive committee and the entire club many more successes in the days and years to come and big kudos on having achieved many accolades during their time at the helm of the club ,

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, and fellow Toastmasters,
In the tapestry of our existence, there exists a thread that binds us all together - our shared humanity. It is a tapestry woven with strands of compassion, empathy, cooperation, and understanding. Today, I want you to celebrate this essence of humanity, to remind us all of the profound significance of embracing our shared humanity
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members " These words, spoken by Coretta Scott King, encapsulate the essence of what it means to be human - to extend compassion and empathy to one another, especially in times of need.
In a world often characterized by division and discord, it is imperative that we recognize the importance of understanding and celebrating our shared humanity. This recognition serves as the foundation upon which we can build a more compassionate and inclusive society
Let us first explore the power of empathy - the ability to understand and share the feelings of others Empathy transcends barriers of culture, language, and experience, allowing us to forge meaningful connections with those around us I have personally witnessed the transformative impact of empathy in my own life, as well as in the lives of others. It is through empathy that we can bridge the gap between differences, fostering unity and solidarity within our communities.
Compassion, too, plays a pivotal role in our shared human experience It is the driving force behind acts of kindness, generosity, and selflessness In the face of adversity, compassion has the power to uplift spirits, heal wounds, and create positive change I am inspired by the countless stories of individuals and communities that have demonstrated remarkable acts of compassion, proving that even the smallest gestures can make a profound difference in the lives of others.
Yet, we cannot ignore the challenges of divisiveness and prejudice that plague our society. It is essential that we confront these issues head-on, embracing diversity and celebrating the richness of different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives By fostering dialogue and understanding, we can bridge divides and build a more inclusive world where all individuals are valued and respected
Collaboration serves as a cornerstone in our efforts to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change. Through collective action, we can leverage our strengths and resources to create a brighter future for all. The examples of successful collaborative efforts abound, demonstrating the immense potential we possess when we work together towards a common purpose
As I draw my remarks to a close, I urge each of you to reflect on how you can embody empathy, compassion, and collaboration in your daily lives Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a willingness to listen, each of us has the power to make a difference in the world around us. Let us seize this opportunity to spread kindness and understanding wherever we go, for it is in embracing our shared humanity that we truly find meaning and fulfillment.
In conclusion, let us remember that our shared humanity is the bedrock upon which we can build a more compassionate, inclusive, and harmonious world Together, let us embark on this journey with open hearts and minds, united in our commitment to creating a brighter future for generations to come

No one, absolutely no one living in any part of the world has been raised without stories narrated to them in a phase of their childhood From bedtime stories to whispering secrets, stories shape our childhood and stay with us forever
In fact, stories have been the main method of transferring information from generation to generation. Not only that, in everyday life, we attentively listen to the unauthorized storytellers who bring stories from everywhere. Maybe this could be the underlying reason for the undying tendency in human beings to listen to stories irrespective of their age, social status or gender
Yet, effective storytelling is more than a simple pastime– a form of art, one that few master but many aspire to. For years, I have been the storyteller whether through words on paper or pixels on a screen. But vocal storytelling, that was a different story altogether. That gym challenge led me to join the toastmasters. I see how I am becoming a better version of the storyteller I already am
As stated in toastmasters international website by DTM Jess Cinto in his article , ' Anatomy of a story’, the elements in a strong story are also key to persuasive speaking as in toastmasters, funny, somber, insightful, relatable stories are woven into the speeches for the similar purpose of persuading, influencing, inspiring or informing the audiences.
You don’t have to be a toastmaster to master storytelling, whether you want to inspire, persuade , or simply connect, your voice has the power to move people if you can learn to use it well Your voice has an immense power learn to use it well
an just delivering words it’s about making an impact. I ty to communicate effectively is one of the most powerful It builds confidence, enhances leadership, and opens doors to endless opportunities. When we speak with clarity and purpose, we inspire, influence, and connect with people in meaningful ways. Public speaking isn’t just for the stage; it’s a skill that empowers us in every aspect of life, from business to personal growth

tmasters is one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself. As p rs, I felt the value of Toastmasters with time. And it's a great experience on so many levels
Also, from my experience, the Toastmasters club meeting provides us with a platform to learn in the process of making mistakes In every meeting, members are encouraged to explore their hidden leadership and communication skills potential through delivering speeches ,evaluations , and taking up different meeting roles The first time, it was very difficult for me to speak with so many people, and there were so many tasks to perform at meetings. Now I became confident and performed small roles and things started changing less than before. For now, I feel I have benefitted from the Toastmasters journey and hope I will gain much more in the future.

When I heard about toastmaster my first thought was, is it related to cooking
But when I joined youth leadership programming conducted by Matale Toastmasters Club, which led me to learn skills in public speaking and encouraged me to join this toastmaster club and met valuable people in the club which is now a family to me My journey with Toastmasters is almost 2 years which has been transformative, filled with growth, challenges and remarkable achievements When I first stepped into a Toastmasters meeting, I nar nervous at the beginning but excited to explore the art of public speaking Through constructive feedback and mentorship, I learned not only to speak confidently but also to lead with purpose. With the toastmasters journey, I was able to take some responsibility by taking roles to proceed the meetings smoothly and also it taught me that every challenge is an opportunity to improve and every setback a lesson to cherish

first thought when I joined my first competition as an SAA My club members were delivering their speeches, and they were EXEMPLARY. A few even made me shed a few tears ( and considering I laughed through the Titanic, that says a lot). That’s when it hit me: I need to be as good as them– just as powerful and persuasive.
When I joined Toastmasters, my primary goal was to overcome my crippling stage fright, which I felt was holding me back from reaching my full potential But after witnessing these awe-inspiring speeches, I now realize my ambition has climbed to a much higher rung on the ladder. As someone new to this journey, I’m excited about the opportunities Toastmasters has in store for me– from learning to speak with confidence, to structuring my thoughts effectively . I’m eager to challenge myself in ways I never have before, knowing that my fellow club members will always be there to encourage and support me along the way

When TM Muaaza called to ask if I could play the role of General Evaluator in an online meeting of her club, Matale Toastmasters Club, I was thoroughly excited I had known Muaaza from our meetings at ‘Spell Wizard Toastmasters Club’
When I spoke to the Toastmaster of the Day (TMoD), TM Ahsan Alavi, to find out how the TAG team and individual speech evaluators should be introduced, he said that the TMoD usually does the introduction. This was different from the way we do it here in our meetings. The TMoD doing these introductions has a lot of benefits. One, it saves time, and secondly, all introductions can be handled in a streamlined, centralized manner. The General Evaluator can concentrate on just one thing: doing the General Evaluation
The 'RRM' in the agenda puzzled me TM Ahsan Ali patiently explained it to me The 'Round Robin Master' is a warm-up session where all participants speak for 20 seconds, building on a storyline. What a fun way to begin a meeting with an icebreaker! I stole the idea and implemented it at my club, Ambattur Achievers Toastmasters Club, the very next day!
I met wonderful people, including TM Malik, TM Zahara Lafeerdeen, and many more. The speakers were amazing, and the Table Topics session was fun until I was called in to speak My wife said my voice quivered
Being the General Evaluator at Matale was a delightful and great learning experience I also had the opportunity to share insights on how Toastmasters clubs operate in our District 120. I would love to be with all of you again. Soon!

When I completed Level 3 of my Motivational Strategies pathway and received the Triple Crown award last term, I began to wonder what I could take on as my Level 4 project. According to the guidelines, the project needed to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the club.
After nearly two months of reflection, I came up with the idea of supporting the club’s educational goals and that’s when the concept of the 3x Triple Crown Project was born
Before diving into the project itself, let me briefly explain what the Triple Crown award is. It’s a recognition given to any Toastmaster who completes three educational achievements within a single Toastmasters year.
At the time I decided to launch this initiative, I had three enthusiastic Toastmasters in mind: TM Muaza, TM Fatheena, and TM Shanika all of whom were keen to be part of this journey
This project wasn’t limited to just our club I had the privilege of networking with clubs across the district and even beyond to secure speech slots for our members in a short span of time.
Now, as we approach the end of the Toastmasters year, I’m thrilled to say that all three of these dedicated individuals have achieved the ultimate goal of the project. But don’t just take my word for it, let's hear from them!
On the Brink of Triumph: My Triple Crown Journey I am on the verge of achieving the prestigious Triple Crown Award in Toastmasters, with just one final speech standing between me and this remarkable milestone The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, shaping me into a more confident and skilled speaker TM Malik, our Vice President Membership, introduced me to this opportunity when I was at Level 1, Project 2 His unwavering support and motivation kept me focused, ensuring I had the necessary speech slots to stay on track and progress steadily. Through this experience, I have gained invaluable lessons in perseverance, growth, and the power of mentorship Each project has refined my communication skills, broadened my knowledge, and strengthened my resilience The encouragement from my mentors and fellow Toastmasters has been instrumental in this journey As I prepare for my final speech, I eagerly anticipate earning the Triple Crown Award a testament to the dedication, learning, and support that define Toastmasters. To anyone pursuing a goal, remember that success is not just about talent; it is about persistence, support, and the willingness to push beyond your limits Embrace challenges, seek guidance, and stay committed to your journey because every step forward brings you closer to your dreams
Toastmaster Fatheena Rafi
The Triple Crown Award in Toastmasters recognizes members who complete three educational levels within a year. Back in November, my mentor, TM Zahara, our club president, introduced me to this milestone and gave me a rough plan for completing the levels While I was eager, I knew that coming up with speech ideas, crafting speeches, rehearsing, and delivering them took time at least for me Securing speaking slots was another challenge
Finding a single speaking slot was already difficult, but finding multiple slots across different clubs for several members was an even more significant challenge. Yet, TM Malik pushed through, guiding, encouraging, and sharing valuable tips. Watching his dedication inspired me to push myself beyond my comfort zone.
At the time, I had just completed Level 2, Project 1, and I initially planned to complete Level 3 by May. But his contagious energy motivated me to fast-track my progress I set a new goal: to complete all three levels by January! Was it easy? Absolutely not! The journey came with sleepless nights, endless rewrites, and speaking in unfamiliar settings from preparing speeches under tight deadlines to managing nerves while speaking at different clubs with diverse audiences
But beyond improving my communication skills and receiving valuable feedback, what truly made this experience special was the incredible support system around me. My mentors and fellow Toastmasters were there every step of the way, guiding, encouraging, and believing in me
One of the most rewarding aspects was stepping beyond my home club and speaking outside District 82 This enhanced my learning and growth and helped me build a global network, cross-cultural communication skills, and newfound confidence. I had the privilege of meeting Toastmasters worldwide, many of whom I now proudly call friends. The beauty of being in an online club meant that just as I experienced their meetings, they also joined ours broadening our perspectives and fostering mutual growth
Although I have successfully completed the required levels, I still await the official Triple Crown Award. But this achievement is not mine alone, it belongs to everyone who guided, encouraged, and supported me. To my mentors, club members, and friends across districts this victory is as much yours as it is mine. Without you, this journey would not have been possible
To those considering this milestone, I urge you not to hold back The only barrier is your mindset Shift it, embrace the challenges, stay persistent and you will shine brighter than ever. "The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory." If I could do it, can you!
Toastmasters has been an incredible space for me to express, explore, and evolve as a speaker and leader. This time, I’ve taken on the Triple Crown Challenge, which means completing three educational awards within a single program year With one level already achieved, I now have two more to conquer in my Dynamic Leadership pathway within the next two months!
Challenges like this push us beyond our comfort zones. As an ESL educator and a mentor, I know the power of structured learning, but Toastmasters adds an invaluable dimension: experiential growth. Each speech refines my articulation, each evaluation strengthens my adaptability, and each project deepens my leadership skills
This challenge is not just about finishing levels, it’s about becoming a more confident, strategic, and impactful communicator. I invite fellow Toastmasters to set bold goals because true transformation does not happen in our comfort zones, it happens when we dare to stretch ourselves

Joining Forces - was definitely the coolest division conference of the season Division F and Division J had their joint conference at the Hillwood College auditorium on the 29th of March, 2025. The event commenced with the lighting of the oil lamp and the singing of the National anthem. The event was inaugurated with speeches of division directors and the district director. Following which the Hillwood stage was set ablaze by the inspiring International Speech Contest (ISC) speakers of division J and then by the ISC speakers of division F Also the unavoidable highlight of the event was the Keynote speech delivered by a former Booker Prize winner, Shehan Karunathilaka It definitely was a treat to all book lovers in the audience
What's a joint division conference without food ? Everyone feasted well except the Muslim toastmasters who were observing the Ramadan fast. Following this we had the daring Table Topics (TT) speeches of Division J followed by those of division F.
Matale Toastmasters Club made sure to make its mark in this event with TM Rameez Naseem and TM Zahara Lafeerdeen as representing MTC as ISC and TT contestants Also the most stunning, TM Shani showed up as one of the dynamic emcees while TM Malik was a part of the division contest PR team
TM Rameez Naseem delivered a thought provoking and inspiring speech that definitely left the audience moved. TM Zahara Lafeerdeen knitted a story on stage about her school life and was able to bring the first runners up trophy home.
Joining Forces, hands down was an experiment worth indulging in

le Toastmasters, I’ve enjoyed the cool, welcoming atmosphere and the supportive community Each session is more than just speeches, It’s about growth, confidence, and connection The encouragement from experienced speakers and the structured yet engaging meetings make every moment worthwhile. I always leave feeling inspired and motivated to improve. While I started as a guest and would love to join, I’m just too young maybe someday, when the time is right!
Observing
like watching a symphony unfold The prepared speeches set the rhythm, each speaker adding their unique melody Table Topics bring spontaneity, like unexpected yet harmonious notes Evaluations act as the guiding chords, refining and uplifting. At Matale Toastmasters, every role, every word, and every gesture contribute to a masterpiece of learning. It’s not just about speaking, it’s about listening, growing, and being part of something greater than oneself As an observer, I wasn’t just watching, I was experiencing the music of transformation
voices some bold, some hesitant, yet all striving for growth. Matale Toastmasters wasn’t just a meeting; it was an experience. Laughter intertwined with learning, every speech a story, every evaluation a lesson The air buzzed with encouragement, where even silence had a purpose Strangers became mentors, and confidence found its wings As the evening ended, I walked away not just inspired but transformed Because here, words aren’t just spoken they shape who we become.
