rusann ibay Hello Keyclubbers! My name is Rus-Ann Ibay and I’m absolutely proud and honored to serve as one of your Spirit Coordinators for the 2015-2016 term. I’m extremely excited to work alongside Lieutenant Governor Tyler Kowta and all the other wonderful spirit coordinators to create cheers you fellow koalas will enjoy. To me, Keyclub has served to be much more than a service club and it’s honestly one of the best decision’s I have ever made. If I were to sum up Keyclub in three words, those three words would be “ opportunity, ohana, and leadership “. Remember to never be afraid to interact and branch out to others, especially me! I would love to get know you better and become friends with you. It is my goal to make sure you are all comfortable and happy so if you have any new ideas, share them with me! Be sure to show all the other divisions and the whole CNH district what the Koala Nation is made of. I hope you’re all ready for a spirited and exciting day at Fall Rally South!

REGION 7 BEACH CLEAN UP

Although the beach clean up wasn’t how we planned it to be, it actually brought us closer together. During the time in the rain, we were all able to bond people from our division that we never talked to before. We were able to laugh about the situation and joke around with this summer California weather. The rain allowed us to really become one big Ohana, laughing and making the best out of these type of situations. The region 7 LTGs did an outstanding job with the whole situation. It was so stressful and hectic, but they handled it so well. They were able to create a stress free environment for the members, which allowed us to have an amazing time at the beach clean up, despite the whole weather situation.

Officer Reflection organizaKey Club is not only an amazing organiza tion, but a family. You are able to work and talk with your friends side by side while serving the community. Key Club taught me many things besides the joy of serving the community. Even though school going to begin, it will not stop my Key Club spirit.

Northridge Academy High School Goals Our goal this month is to find as many ways possible to advertise our club. We want to make sure we get lots of new members because we can’t have a club without our members. It’s really sad going to events with only three people supporting key club while other clubs have ten or more people attending there events. We want to make sure Northridge academy’s key club doesn’t fade away. We want it to thrive and only get better with the new members we bring in! For this reason were working extra hard to advertise key club and make it inclusive just as its supposed to be. Our club is getting together to come up with ideas to advertise. Anytime we get the chance to get together we will come up with more ideas because if we fail to get members there won’t be any more key club for Northridge. As an officer that breaks my heart, knowing how many students won’t be touched with the spirit of service. Key club offers so much, it changes you because you learn to help others but more importantly, to LOVE helping others. We haven’t gotten our ideas straightened out but when we do we hope to share it with you, and let’s hope that were successful.

Officer Reflection Secretary Christy Seguritan

Our Secretary Christy, recently went to patches to make pillow cases for foster homes. This is what she had to say “Making pillow cases was easier than making quilts so I was able to create more than one. The whole process took multiple steps but it felt good finishing a pillow case, and knowing that it was going to someome who would really appreciate it. I cant wait to see pictures of the kids with the pillow cases we made them”. Christy not only felt happy about making pillow cases for foster kids but she had fun making them to. With her positive energy she turned this energy depriving task into something fun with her humor. It takes a lot of patience to make pillow cases because you have to pick out fabrics that match, make sure you get your measurment’s done right, and sow it all together.

Upcoming events

James Monroe High School Officer Reflection The event I found especially memorable this month was the Special Olympics at Warner Center park. The special Olympics allows people living with a disability take part in competitive athletic activities. Over 500 athletes joined in this event, and I personally got to meet and greet people from Venezuela and even Greece. I particularly liked this event because of its message. No disability should stop you from being an athlete, or dreams. Meeting and greeting people around the world was an interesting experience. Although there was a language barrier, I could still communicate fairly well with hand signals. I loved giving out drinks and snacks during the closing of the race and just fulfilling some genuine keyclub service. This event was even more memorable during its closing. At the very end Mikayla (Granada Charter High School) , Kelly(Valley Academy, and myself saved the left over food. Doing this we prepared and packaged salad and 50-60 hot dogs. This was donated to the homeless so nothing would be left to waste. This reminded me of why I serve and what it really means to be in keyclub. -Darren Viloria

The region 7 beach clean up was the most anticipated event of the month. It was amazing to see members join together to make the world a better place. Although things had taken a wild turn, it brought everyone together and we were able to truly become one Ohana. As school comes near, I’m excited to welcome new members to the club and rejoin with the old ones in order to make my last year service as VP the best. My fellow senior officers are working on organizing as many events as we can throughout this year, in order to leave the club in a solid basis in the coming years.
