New, familiar names to expect in the 2020 presidential election By Yousef Dababneh April 30, 2019 There are currently 22 candidates set to run for president in 2020, and a majority of them are of the democratic party. To be exact, 20 of the 22 candidates belong to the democratic party, as according to the New York Times. They describe the current situation within the candidates by stating, “It feels as if half the Democratic Party is running for the White House. In fact, it’s only 20, officially. Below, an accounting of who’s in, who’s out and who’s somewhere in between.” Of the many democrats running, a few familiar names we’ve seen try in the past have come again, including the likes of Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. Another notable democratic candidate that has entered the race is Kamala Harris, she had received high praise from the public for her firm questioning of President Trump’s cabinet nominees, including Brett Kavanaugh, this along with her other work in office has led to her catapulting into candidacy. The only two Republican candidates consists of Trump and William Feld, who is the former governor of Massachusetts and has openly spoke out against Trump’s immigration policies. This is just a hint of what this upcoming presidential election will offer.
