FROM THE editor!

Happy Summer D7W! I hope you are all enjoying your summer break and staying safe as we begin to reopen. Also, happy pride month! And congratulations to everyone for completing their final exams and tests for school. Our DLT has been working hard to create activities and events that we can still do over quarantine, so keep an eye out for them online!

Also, we have recently changed our Instagram to @d07wghosts, so don't forget to follow us for important updates and reminders. The past few weeks have been a major turning point in our country's history. I urge everyone to educate themselves as well as your friends and family. It's been long enough that we took a stand and fought against the racial injustices that are deeply rooted in our country's history. Sign petitions, stay informed, email representatives, and educate others. Change begins with you. 04

FROM THE ltg!

Hey Ghoulies! It’s finally the beginning of the summer! Now we can enjoy the warmer weather with some individual sports and activities. Hopefully as our counties begin to safely reopen, we can look forward to the gathering and events that we miss so much.

Around this time of year would be our summer events such as Officer Training Conference at Monterey Trail High School or even Color Splash with the rest of Region Sweet 16. Even though it’s through our computer, Division 7 is still hosting OTC! I am happy to announce that this year, we will be hosting Let It Grow-TC on June 27th from 1-5 PM. Be sure to stay on the lookout for more information on our Instagram! During this time, it is especially important to stay informed about the things happening around us everyday. I would like to showcase some ways you may stay informed on racial inequalities that this country faces. You may find our official statement on our division Instagram page. The bottom line is: stay informed because black lives matter. 05

BOARD

meeting

On Thursday, June 4th, our board held a meeting over Zoom. We revisited the term goals and fundraisers that we discussed during last month’s board meeting. This allowed us to make small changes to our term goals and to go more in depth into the details of the fundraisers we hope to hold this term. We also planned some events we could do while at home so that we could remain as active as possible.

This month, we have further discussed the details of our club’s future. We have come up with ways to be more involved with our community during this time and we are glad to get started! On Thursday, June 4th, our board met with the LTG over Zoom. Our board was asked questions and we were able to share our club’s goals for the term. We were also given advice about our plans for our club this term and on ways to stay active during this time.

INDERKUM supports BLM

Recently, with the injustices towards the African American community, our board figured we should show support and raise awareness using our platform. Standing for inclusiveness, we created a post to encourage our key clubbers to use their voices. The primary purpose of this post was to spread more awareness on the issue and to encourage all our members not to stay silent. We would like all who come from different backgrounds to feel welcome and safe, especially in our club, fighting for a positive future. As key clubbers, It is vital to take initiative and action, especially during difficult times like these.

On the first Tuesday of June, a social media event took place called Blackout Tuesday. This event was where people would post a black screen in regards to the recent injustices. The purpose of this event was to go silent on social media, reflect on recent events, and show support for the African American community. We participated in Blackout Tuesday to spread more awareness and to remind our followers of ways they can help. We reminded our members to view the link in our profile, which leads to a collection of helpful resources (petitions, donations, helpful information for educating and protesting).

QUARANTINE ACTIVITIES! Pick up a new sport! I recently started skateboarding again and it has been really fun! I highly encourage you to find an activity that you like doing. Getting some time outside for some fresh air is definitely important.

Start a new hobby. Discovering a new passion like art or music can help cure your boredom. Try something new, photography, editing, art, or even learning a new language.

Discover new artists or shows. Finding a new show to binge during your free time is a good way to pass time in quarantine. I recommend watching Money Heist if you're into action and crime shows.!

08

STAYING SAFE Wash your hands regularly. The CDC recommends to scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap. Wash your hands after going outside and touching dirty surfaces.

Stay at home. Refrain from social interactions and large gatherings. It's okay to go on a walk or exercise outside, but stay at least six feet away from others.

TIPS + REMINDERS Check up on others! Take a break.

It's easy to get consumed in social media and the news. Don't forget to take a break and allow yourself some time to do your own things and clear your mind.

Get tested. If you believe you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to anyone with it, you can find a free testing site for you or your family to get tested.
