A MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR What's up D7W! A new name, a new mascot, new color, quarantine, 2020 has definitely been full of changes. Although this isn't exactly what we had imagined the year to be like, I hope that you all are staying healthy and safe throughout this time. I am honored and excited to serve you as the District Newsletter Editor for this 2020-2021 year! I wish to see you all once this is over. I love meeting new people, so feel free to talk to me anytime! I know that staying inside all the time has been driving us crazy, but with all of this time on our hands, it's perfect to spend some time on yourself and with family. This newsletter contains info about ways you can get hours from home and reminders for upcoming events so stay updated!

A MESSAGE FROM THE LTG
Hey Ghosties! I hope all of you are staying safe at home! Congratulations to all of you for reaching the end of your school year with service and pride. Especially to our seniors, thank you for showing all of us that even the most uncertain times can not stop you from graduating high school with the same energy that you’ve shown all year. Even though we can not meet together for our regular DCMs and events, I still highly encourage you to continue your service and spirit from home! Zoom meetings are an excellent way to keep in touch with each other and even resume your club meetings. Speaking of Zoom, thank you to everybody who attended our May Zoom DCM… 67 participants! I am more than excited to continue this chapter with you all as the Division 7 West Ghosts. SERVICE SPOTLIGHT RIVER CITY
BOARD MEETING River City held a board meeting though FaceTime to discuss term goals, fundraising, senior awards, and board training. They also planned for ICON if they were still able to go this year.
MAY DCM During our May DCM, River City got to meet the new DLT members and participate in the icebreaker games. The club also submittted an elephant as a suggestion for our division mascot!Â

NEW MASCOT & COLOR! D7W TAKES ON A NEW PATH
FROM D7N TO D7W Last year, District 7 North had the original bee mascot and yellow colors. However, with the addition of more schools into our division, D7N needed to be split up. The May DCM featured a live poll on Zoom for our new mascot and color. It was a close call between lavender gray and lilac, but the majority voted for lavender gray! Along with our new color, we needed to come up with our new mascot. Our district leader, Hollie, suggested the ghosts and it won the majority vote!

SERVICE FROM HOME HELPING OUT OTHERS DURING QUARANTINE
MAKE MASKS! You can help out front line and essiential workers by sewing and giving out masks.
DONATE! Many organizations are providing services like food and care to those in need. You can help them get food and supplies by donating.

CHECK UP ON OTHERS Check on elder neighbors or those you think may need help. You can even offer to buy groceries for them if they need it and leave it out their front door. Reach out to any friends who may need help too.
WAYS TO STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY IN QUARANTINE Wear a mask when outside. Wearing a mask when visiting the store or going outside will help prevent the spread of germs. They not only protect yourself, but also protect others.
Keep active and exercise. Go on a jog outside or find exercise videos on YouTube! There are many different ways to keep active at home. It is reccomended to exercise 3 times a week.
Have a routine. Creating a sustainable and healthy routine can keep you in check. Keep in touch with friends and family regularly and dedicate some time for yourself and school work!

STAYING SAFE Wash your hands regularly. The CDC recommends to scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap. Wash your hands after going outside and touching dirty surfaces.
Stay at home. Refrain from social interactions and large gatherings. It's okay to go on a walk or exercise outside, but stay at least six feet away from others.
