HANDLING AND UPKEEP OF STAINLESS STEEL FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES

Non-magnetizable chrome-nickel steels and magnetizable chrome steels with a chromium content of at least 12% are designated stainless steel. The corrosion resistance of Incoloy 800H Pipe is due to a passivation layer that forms on the metal surface in contact with oxygen. The oxygen present in the air is sufficient for this. Chemically destroyed and oxidative damage will occur even if it is stainless steel. Furthermore, stainless steels are not completely resistant to some chemical compounds. Heavy layers of dirt that contain chlorine salts or foreign rust, in certain circumstances can produce over time colorations or corrosion on the Inconel 600 Tubing surface.

WHEN HANDLING STAINLESS STEEL FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES, THE FOLLOWING BASIC POINTS MUST BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT: •

The stainless steel surface must always be kept clean and accessible to the air. Some deposits can cause corrosion under certain working conditions due to lack of oxygen. These marks of use, as well as the remains of cleaning products, must be removed immediately. The stainless steel exterior must be reserved undamaged. Damage caused by use, cleaning or repair work due to hard metal objects, especially non-stainless materials, should be avoided. The stainless steel surface must not remain in contact with normal stainless steel or iron for a long period of time. If stainless steel comes into contact with iron or normal steel, e.g. For example, through filings, steel wool, traces of metal barbed brushes or ferruginous water, chemical elements are produced that cause continuous corrosion on their own.
