Mireya Alt Psychology and Sociology, 2022

Mireya Alt is no stranger to hardship and challenges. She grew up in South Central LA and worked hard to overcome childhood trauma, left an abusive marriage, and, while rebuilding her life as a single mother of four and first-generation college student, experienced a period of homelessness during the early days of the pandemic. Yet Mireya never gave up on her goals.

She was selected as the 2022 Presidential Scholar of Distinction for the Social Sciences pathway and graduated with associate degrees in psychology, sociology, and liberal arts with an emphasis in social and behavioral sciences.
