She went on to obtain her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Dr. William M. Scholl college of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago in 1992, graduating Summa cum Laude. She works closely with sociology masters students, mentoring them through their theses (four of her students earned their masters degree this calendar year).
