Cumberland County is fortunate to have a variety of parks and trails to satisfy the outdoor recreation needs of both residents and visitors. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania manages over 38,000 acres of land that includes the Michaux and Tuscarora State Forests, 3 State Parks, 4 State Game Lands as well as Fish and Boat Commission facilities. These regional facilities provide ample recreation opportunities and serve to protect our precious natural resources. In addition, the County is home to more than 130 local parks, which provide active, close to home recreation. Whether you are seeking a round of disc golf, a pick-up basketball game or simply a quiet picnic, there is a park for everyone! Cumberland County also has over 200 miles of scenic trails. The State Parks as well as the Appalachian Trail and the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail are popular hiking venues. If you are looking to paddle rather than hike, the County boasts 3 water trails.
