Inflation rate in the region settled at 42 percent, a slight decrease from the 43 percent recorded in the same period last year Rice prices notably hiked from 57 percent to 251 percent due to supply constraints as production was affected by the El Niño phenomenon. The Project Development Assistance Center (PDAC) successfully hosted the region’s first Public-Private Partnership (PPP)CongressfromJuly31toAugust2, 2024 at the Pamegafanan Hall, NEDA Regional Office 2, Carig Sur, TuguegaraoCity
The congress aims to orient local technocrats on the salient features of the newly enacted PPP Code and its implementing rules and regulations (IRR); provide them with knowledge, methodologies, and skills in preparing Project Concept Notes (PCNs); and harness the potential of PPP as a mechanism for implementing public infrastructure and services in the region
As part of the activity, the participants enhanced the PCNs that they initially prepared during the training in June under the guidance of the resource persons.

ThiswasledbytheRegionalGender and Development Committee (RGADC) in collaboration with the ProvinceofNuevaVizcayaashost.
Theeventservesasaplatformto:a) recognize and celebrate the significant progress and accomplishments of the region in promoting gender equality and women empowerment; b) assess the current state of GAD in the region, and identify challenges and areas needing improvement; c) highlight success stories, best practices, and initiatives on MCW implementation; d) reinforce commitment and strengthen partnerships between and among the government, civil society organizations(CSOs),international
institutions, and the private sector; and e) encourage collective action and shared responsibility in advancingthegoalsofMCW

The Luzon Regional Development Committee (Luzon RDCom) recommended the use of the updated land area of local government units (LGU) in the computation of national tax allotment (NTA), or the LGU’s just shareinthenationaltaxes,duringits meeting held on 20 August 2024 at the SotoGrande Hotel in Quezon City.

the Regional Development Council in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), said that the proposal emanatedfromtheclamorofLGUsin CAR, especially the municipality of Sadanga in Mountain Province, for adjustment of land areas used as basis for the computation of NTA Based on data from Land Management Bureau (LMB) of the Department of Environment and NaturalResources,landareasofLGUs in Luzon are already updated, as reflected in the 2019 Master List of
Land Area “The use of updated land areas as basis in computing the NTA of LGUs will result in a more efficient and equitable allocation of government’s limited resources,” the directorsaid
The Committee resolved to pass two resolutions on the matter addressed to the Oversight Committee on Devolution and the Department of Budget Management for the confirmation of the LMB-validated land areas and their corresponding useinthecomputationofNTA.

The Regional Development Council 2 (RDC2), through its Regional Research and Development, and Innovation Committee (RRDIC), conducted the 1st Regional Research Dissemination Forum on 6 August 2024 at the Pulsar Hotel Premiere Suites, Buntun, Tuguegarao City.
The Regional Research Dissemination Forum is the first initiative in the region to highlight the results of researches conducted by various research agencies and institutions It aims to transform the research findings into actions through possible development of policy, adoption of packages of technology, or partnerships with industries and other research stakeholders
RDC2 Vice Chair and NEDA Regional Director Dionisio C. Ledres, Jr. stressed the importance of recognizing the outputs of researchers and putting these to good use to create opportunities for economic development, generate more jobs, and increaseinvestments

The forum provided insights on the challenges faced by distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) -thosewhoareexposedtoorvictims of sexual harassment, discrimination, medical degradation,culturalalienation,and exploitation while working abroad. This also highlighted various government programs that support andpromotetheirwelfare
NEDA2 Assistant Regional Director Ferdinand P Tumaliuan welcomed theofficialsoftheOverseasWorkers andWelfareAdministration(OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the resource persons, and the participants who camefromthedifferentprovincesof the region He emphasized the contribution of OFWs to the region’s economythroughtheirremittances

The forum featured the personal stories of selected distressed OFWs, who shared their experiences, struggles, and coping mechanisms while working abroad One OFW cried while sharing her experience as a victim of sexual harassment. Other OFWs shared their plight of working abroad to improve the lives of their families left behind Despite their hardships, the OFWs maintained a positive outlook, and managed to bring warmth and hope to other distressedOFWs

The activity aims to provide the RDC2 members with fundamental knowledgeandskillsonfireprevention and control in the workplace The topics discussed include the general fire safety measures required under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards in the workplace, means of regress, emergency preparedness, and the 2008 Fire Code of the Philippines.

In line with the 50th Nutrition Month Celebration, NEDA2 conducted the Health and Wellness Forum cumCookfest Competition and NutriFashion on 22 July 2024 at the NEDA2 gymnasium, Tuguegarao City This year’s nutrition month theme is “Sa PPAN, Sama-sama sa NutrisyongSapatparasaLahat”.
