Creating a Legacy for future CVJFC U16 Squads

For the frst time in over 10 years, the club will have an U16 team competing in the Harrogate and District Junior Football League. With many of the squad being at the club since primary school the club are embarking on their Spanish adventure in recognition of the service that the boys have given to their team. The club are trying to make the trip as close to a professional experience for the squad as possible where they will all travel together on a team coach in CVJFC clothing, eat together at the same meal times in resort, train together and experience tournament football against European teams. The end of the tournament will culminate in a stadium tour of the Nou Camp in Barcelona.

After what started as a conversation between coaches a few years ago to get together for a family football holiday, the idea was set aside before being resurrected in early 2022. The club’s Development Offcer, Darren Rhodes wished to leave a legacy to the club that would remain long lasting and reward the players for their long service and dedication. The idea grew to reality when, put to the parents, it was evident that there was massive support and from then, planning started in earnest. Fundraising events have been undertaken and continues to ensure that the trip goes ahead. A session will be arranged with our coaches after the tournament to set the template that will enable future squads to embark on the trip of a lifetime.
