From the moment I encountered THE DAY THE STAMPERS UNITED, I was drawn to its bold spirit, imaginative metaphor and potential for co-creation. This is a story about movement – physical, political, and emotional – and how communities can come together to challenge the status quo. It asks us to reflect on freedom, solidarity, and the power we hold when we stand side by side.
In a world that often feels rigid and controlled, this play celebrates choice, difference, and resistance. It might take place in a warehouse, but it speaks directly to the workplaces, schools, and systems we all navigate today.
One of the most exciting aspects of this play is its open, flexible structure. It invites co-creation and collaboration at every stage, allowing our company to shape not just how the story is told – but what it means to them. The performers had the chance to decide how much responsibility they wanted to take on, so their ownership of the process has made this performance uniquely theirs.
My vision for this production was to empower our young cast to find their voices, experiment with storytelling, and explore what unity means to them. The rehearsal room became a space for creativity, honesty, and collaboration – just like the community of stampers in the play.
This story is playful and surreal yet rooted in something deeply real: the power of collective action.
